Don’t You Dare Call These Tees Basic!

imageWe love our basics, we really do… but we’d be lying if we said they were the most exciting things in our closets. Sure, that American Apparel v-neck goes with 18 other outfits (and that’s just the grey one) but honestly, it’s kind of boring on its own, right? Why not swap out those boring basics with tees that have just a little something extra? Tiny embellishments transform plain tees from reliable standbys to fashionable favorites in their own right, and they’re just as versatile as ever. Take this jersey tank from Casual Couture by Green Envelope- from the front, it’s a simple, well-cut top, but the back features an exposed zipper that will add a little edge to any outfit. The pearl tee from Sauce is a girly spin on everyone’s favorite slouchy pocket tee, and J. Crew’s jeweled tissue tee practically has a statement necklace built in and would look perfect paired with everything from scruffy boyfriend jeans to a polished skirt and blazer. See the slideshow for your new favorite basics!

J.Lo, Katy, Or Vivica: Who Rocked Basic Black Best At The “This Is It” Premiere?

imageIt’s no surprise that a documentary on the late and great Michael Jackson would draw in a crowd of A-list celebrities, all wanting to show their love and support for the King of Pop. The tragic and sudden death of the greatest entertainer of all time sent shock waves through the community and “This Is It” is one way to commemorate Jackson, as well as keep him with us for a little longer. Everybody who’s anybody, and their mom and kids, showed up dressed to impress with styles ranging from dressed up tees to floor-sweeping gowns. One common color that celebrities showed up in was chic head-to-toe black ensembles that were edgy, sexy, sleek or just plain sweet. Perhaps it was out of respect for the loss that the Jackson family and the rest of the world has recently endured, but there’s no denying that they all looked like “Pretty Young Things.” So who do you think rocked the basic black look the best? Was it Jennifer Lopez in her edgy black panel sheath and rockin’ knee boots? Or perhaps you preferred Katy Perry’s lacy, glittering gown? And there’s no question that Vivica A. Fox looked smoking in a body-hugging, one-shouldered mini. Take the poll below and let us know who you think looked best at the Michael Jackson’s “This Is It’ Premiere!

Add Vintage Appeal To Your Look With A Pocket Watch Necklace!

imageOne accessory of the past that I wish had never gone out of style is the pocket watch necklace, or pendant watch. There’s something so refined and sophisticated about this vintage-inspired timepiece, dangling elegantly from a chain and worn as a necklace, or placed carefully inside a breast pocket. While watches can also be beautiful, a watch necklace is not only eye-catching, but unique and practical as well. Is there anything else you could ask for from a piece of jewelry? With the layered look still at the forefront of jewelry trends today, a pocket watch necklace frees up a wrist from an everyday watch and allows you to pile on a few more bangles and bracelets. Plus, a pocket watch necklace nestled amongst other chains and necklaces adds interest and texture, giving the wearer a look that’s both vintage and modern. Take a look at some of my favorites by clicking on the slideshow!

Camilla Belle Wears Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

imageAt the debut of the futuristic dystopian flick “2012,” Camilla Belle bravely donned an Alexander McQueen creation from his Spring 2010 collection, which premiered in Paris a few weeks ago. The entire Alexander McQueen collection featured a futuristic look and reptilian themed prints. Belle’s dress was a short dress with a puff-ball skirt and gem trim on the sleeves. She wisely accessorized this attention-grabber of a dress with a minimal theme in mind. A simple bangle, plain earrings, and nude platform heels ensured that accessories would not compete with the dress. It would be easy to overdo it with chains or diamonds or “look-at-me” shoes. Also in attendance at the movie premiere was American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert. The soundtrack to the movie features his song “Time for Miracles.” Critics describe the song as “perfect” for the movie in which the world faces a huge cataclysmic event and those left have to fight for survival. Written by Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser, the movie’s cast includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Thandie Newton. Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover are also included in the cast of thousands. The film premiered November 4 in Los Angeles. This week it is scheduled for release in Belgium, France, and the UK. Bag Of The Week: Treesje Jovi Cross Body In Turquoise

imageBy now you might be starting to get sick of seeing studs on just about everything: blazers, bracelets, even last week’s shoe of the week… but somehow, this Treesje Jovi bag seems to have the unique ability to breathe new life to the embellishment. Then again, I think any trend could look way less redundant when it’s part of a bright green bag! Aside from the vibrant color (which would be a great refresher to my otherwise muted winter wardrobe), I love the fact that it’s convertible — wear it as a cross body when you need your hands to carry all those shopping bags, or snap off the strap and you’ve got yourself a rocker-chic clutch. It may not match everything, but it doesn’t hurt to indulge in a healthy pop of color every now and then!

What: the Treesje Jovi Cross Body in Turquoise
Price: $363
Where to Buy: Revolve Clothing
Who: xgalexy was the first to add the Treesje Jovi Cross Body to the Hive.

Which Of Lady Gaga’s Looks Is The Wildest?

imageBy now, there is no need to prelude Lady Gaga with an introduction or description. Everyone knows who she is. Plus, how exactly would you describe this powerhouse entertainer? Her blindingly platinum blonde hair, those bling-ed out sunglasses, her lack of pants and one over-the-top get-up after another… one almost forgets that through all the crazy costumes, strange antics, make-out sessions with muppets and smoke and mirror filled performances, this girl can actually sing! Fantastical ensembles aside, Lady Gaga is known for pumping out one hot dance hit after another, making it impossible to not get up and bust a few moves to her beats. But let’s face it. She’s become a household name due to more than her songstress talents. Those crazy costumes and over-the-top outfits are what made us sit up and take notice. Some would say she’s the leader in avant-garde fashion, others find her amusing, while still more would claim that her fashion sense belongs in an asylum! What do you think? Take our poll below and tell us which Lady Gaga ensemble is the wildest!
