Who Was Most Fashionable At The Elle Style Awards?

imageAt the annual Elle Style Awards, which took place last Monday in London, we were expecting plenty of famous faces — both in the guest list and the guests’ labels. After all, with a name like Elle and a night dedicated to a subject like style, you can’t help but expect nothing but fashion’s finest. We certainly weren’t disappointed in that respect, as the red carpet boasted the likes of Claire Danes, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and other beautiful style icons from all over the globe. While some of the get-ups looked worthy of Lady GaGa’s next award show appearance, others played it safe yet sexy, providing a red carpet parade full of variety. Alexa Chung looked like her usual elegant yet I-just-rolled-out-of-bed self in a blue Chanel dress and messy ponytail, and Best Actress nominee Carey Mulligan was quirky in a belted top and knee-length skirt. As a pair, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen looked fashionably yin-and-yang in contrasting tulle-covered gowns, while Kristen Stewart gave off her signature awkward vibe despite the sexiness of her Pucci minidress. Vote below on which celebrity stylista really pulled out all the stops! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Devolution is the new red

pa href=”http://www.clubdevo.com/”Devo/a is doing some fantastic promotion as they relaunch their band/brand. They’re focusing on one of the most telling indicators of devolution: consumer culture, specifically production for consumption. That means you, dear readers. /p

pCheck out their positioning statement, Focus Group Testing The Futurebr /

pInteresting to see that their use of focus groups is being reported elsewhere on the web and in print mags like Rolling Stone as a straight fact. Sure, you can (and should) wonder if they are pranking us or not, and if they succeed (or not), does that change the impact of their provocation? No doubt there’s an “Is it art?” rat trap we could devolve (oops) into, but we’ll set that aside for now and just bask in the work./p

pThey’ve also put out a lovely color survey (and we aren’t exactly embig fans /emof surveys) a href=”http://splash.clubdevo.com/colorstudy/”here/a. It’s a gorgeous bit of interactive design as well as (of course) a brilliant satire of the concept. br /

pFinally, they are sharing the results of their color focus groups.br /

pIt was only a few weeks ago that we had Domino’s Pizza using customer research to spawn product redevelopment, and then using that process to promote their improved product. See a href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH5R56jILag#t=0m54s”The Pizza Turnaround/a, and note the negative quotes posted on the walls of their office. Devo flips that whole conceit back around with this campaign. Stay tuned to a href=”http://www.clubdevo.com/”Club Devo/a to see where they take it next./pa href=”http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/devolution_is_the_new_red_16051.asp”(more…)/a
