Cute and Cuddly Gifts For Your Littlest Loved Ones!

imageOne person that everyone loves showering and spoiling with gifts is the baby. We love gifting things to babies because, well, they’re just so darn cute! And everything made for them is also just so darn cute! Honestly, I believe that if we could get away with it, many of us would still be wearing soft fleece pjs with footies attached, or eating dinner off personalized plates and silverware with tiny animals marching across. Alas, we grew up as did our tastes, and although we can’t use many of the super soft, extra-cuddly or painfully cute clothes and accessories that infants get to, we now have the means to buy them and provide them to the babies in our life. Whether it’s your baby’s first holiday, a new niece or nephew that you’re welcoming, or a close friend’s mini-me, there’s a vast variety of brightly colored toys, plush pastel blankies, itty-bitty garments and beautifully shining accessories that are admittedly a little superflous but undeniably lust-worthy and still very practical. Click on the slideshow for some favorite gift ideas to show the littlest one how much you love them.

Cute To Boot: 10 Not Too Short, Not Too Tall Pairs!

imageWith our zillions of styles and outfits,we’ve really got to have a style of boot to pair with each: hot high heel ankle boots for mini dresses, calf boots for shorts and skirts, boots for skinny jeans, an over the knee pair for leggings and a long tee, and then cowboy boots just for the hell of it. If we’re practical about it (which I’m not– I need sweater boots to bring me from bed to breakfast) the one boot versatile enough to play whatever way we’d like is the short boot. It’s less likely to be choppy than the unforgiving cankle-flaunting ankle boot. Every boot’s different, so some may be difficult to categorize, but somewhere in between lies the short boot you’re looking for in absolutely every style imaginable. They’re hip, fun, fashionable and wardrobe workable and just a wishlist-add away from ending up under the tree on Christmas day. See my favorites in my slideshow!

Hot In The Hive: Beer In A Boot For Father’s Day!

imageFather’s Day is a step around the corner and I never know what to get my dad! I crossed ties off the list many years ago (he made me), he probably has bathrobe and slipper sets to last him two lifetimes, and all those cool gadgets and grill tools that my brother and I were gonna go halfsies on? He’s already bought them for himself! So, I think this year, I will go for a gift that’s something fun mixed with something a little traditional. Most men like beer… maybe even borderline love. Men have loved beer throughout the ages so much that German soldiers would drink it out of their boots, rather than not drink it at all! So this Father’s Day, get your dad the gift of tradition and beer with a glass beer boot from HomeWetBar! These glass boots hold up to 18 oz of beer which is about half a liter. Not big enough? They also come in two liter boot sizes! Dad may be sick of getting house slippers, but here’s some footwear that he’ll love to get out and use again and again! At $20 each, get a pair of beer boots and join your father for a Father’s Day brewski!

Price: $19.95

Purple Handbags Are A Must Have for Fall

imageStand out from a sea of black! Rich hues are in this fall, so why not give your outfit a pop of color with a purple handbag? I love this Kooba Amber Shoulder bag ($545 at Neiman Marcus) for it’s roomy size, not so flashy gold hardware, and cool looking bow detail. The Caroline Shoulder Bag (On Sale for $169 at Neiman Marcus) with watersnake skin gives a glamorous touch to an everyday bag. Finally, the Marc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Huge Hillier Leather Hobo ($498 at Bloomingdales) is sleek, roomy, and versatile with two strap lengths. Check out Coquette for more stylish purple bags for fall.

Cheap Thrills: Marc Jacobs “Special Items” That Are Worth The Trek To The Store!

imageAny devoted Marc Jacobs fan knows about the exclusive special items— those generally cheap, kitschy, and cute little trinkets that can be found at any Marc by Marc store (and on eBay, “MARC-ed” up of course). You can pretty much go in, scoop up a couple rhinestone rings, a tote, and a book, and walk out of the store having only spent $40. The best part of this entire scenario? You get the iconic Marc Jacobs carrier bag, so the rest of the world knows you shop at stores that garner a Yelp rating of $$$, which may lead them to believe you are a successful human being (or just connected to one). All kidding aside though, I love that the stores sell these items- it gives me a reason to wander through the racks, make a mental wishlist of everything I want but can’t have, and then drown my sorrows in $1 keychains and $3 fingerless gloves. Lancome, Urban Decay, And More Of Your Favorite Makeup Brands Go Green!

imageUsing beauty products may not be the most environmentally harmful part of your daily routine (well, unless of course you’re addicted to hairspray), but if you’re into going the natural route for the sake of saving your skin and the planet, you’re certainly not the only one! Lucky for us eco-conscious makeup mavens, some of our favorite beauty brands have jumped on the green bandwagon and made natural, organic, and eco-chic versions of their popular products. For example, Lancome’s Juicy Tubes Pure are just like the old favorite, but this time with 95% natural ingredients! And Urban Decay’s shadow box packs 10 of their favorite shadows into a sustainable wooden box complete with a cruelty-free eyeshadow brush. I won’t be dramatic and say that a few coats of organic mascara will save the world, but hey — every little gesture counts! Take a browse through the slideshow to see which big-name brands have gone natural!

Recession Chic: Statement Jewelry Under $50

imageIt’s all about making a personal statement through jewelry these days. Chunky bracelets, multi-layered necklaces and huge earrings help add character and individual style to sleek outfits, but many times, these gorgeous works of wearable art cost more than we’re willing to shell out. The great thing about statement jewelry is that it’s eye-catching and highly memorable, but the downside is also how memorable it can be. Sure, you could wear your statement piece every day, and you’d certainly get your money’s worth, but people would probably begin to notice and you might get bored of the piece yourself! Check out the slideshow for our favorite standout pieces and scoop up a few to add to your outfits- at under $50 each, you can shift your thinking to style statements, not bank statements!

Hot In The Hive: Chanel Les Tissages ‘Tweed’ Blush

imageStyles and trends have been done and re-done over the years, and Chanel tweed is one of these such styles. While many others have tried to imitate, no one does it quite as well. Since it’s been established that Chanel tweed suits and clothing are second to none, they’ve taken the iconic textured fabric and transferred it to their cosmetics. Chanel has a new “tweed” blush, Les Tissages, a mixture of pink and beige tones on a palette of silky powders that help give you a naturally rosy glow all through winter and right into the summer months! It’s two shades of color intertwined to resemble the iconic Chanel tweed fabric and comes in a variety of selections so you can find one that blends to your skin tone perfectly. It’s perfect as a turn-to cosmetic for yourself, or grab an extra for a mom or sister as a pretty and practical gift for the holidays!

Price: $45.00

Hot In The Hive: Jane Iredale chocohoLICKS Lip Glosses

imageMy first foray into lip products was way back when I young enough to reach for the Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. My favorite flavor to this day is Strawberry Kiwi! But somewhere between the start of teenage angst and graduating from college, I’ve since graduated to more “mature” lip products. I still miss the flavored lip glosses of my youth though. As luck would have it, Jane Iredale has a lip product that combines 100% all natural ingredients with flavors my sweet tooth loves. The box comes with 4 lip glosses that will send any chocolate lover straight to heaven. Flavors include: Truffle, Chocolate Orange, Strawberry Cream, and Caramel. They even come packaged like a box of chocolates. Gift them to your best friends or save them for yourself. Just don’t take a spoon to them!

Price: $44
