HauteMimi Finds A Laptop Tote That’s Actually Stylish!

imageI love a good clutch, but a stylish clutch that’s created to cradle my laptop? Now that is divine. I am all over this new laptop clutch named “Colette” by the stylish laptop bag maker J’Tote. It comes in 3 chic colors including black, pewter and navy blue and can hold laptops that are up to 14″. I personally have the Colette in black and I find that I can fit my Blackberry, wallet and makeup bag along with my hp mini. The envelope-style clutch is the new way to carry your laptop around town. Perfect for editors as well as fashionistas on the go! Get yours here.

College Candy Presents 8 Under $20: Old Navy!

imageFor many of you, school has already begun or will shortly, which means new additions to the wardrobe are necessary. Woohoo! But you don’t have to spend a lot to update that 2008 fall wardrobe. Old Navy is a great place to get cute basics at super reasonable prices. Just pair these items (many of which are on sale!) with the trendier items/accessories in your closet for a brand new look. Here are a few pieces I found that’ll be great for the upcoming months:

Jeans: Jeans are obviously a wardrobe staple in every college girl’s closet, but sometimes we need a little variety. I say that every gal needs a cute pair of khakis. You can wear them with a polo, a basic button down or a tee. I totally love the green of these ones. They’re a little different, but still totally neutral so you can wear them with just about anything!

Cute Tops: I’m really digging the cut and print of this shirt (though they also have it in solid colors if print’s not your thang). But what I really heart about this tank is that you can wear it on its own before it gets too cool and also rock it under a boyfriend blazer for those chillier days.

The Perfect Little Jacket (For Under $100!)

imageI’m crushing for this BB Dakota Indigo Blue Marsh Jacket ($70 at chickdowntown.com). The jacket is a lightweight deep denim and the ruffles on the sleeve give the military look a much more softer feel. Pair it with a longer tee over skinnies (pants, jeans, leggings — just learned this term in NY, ha!) for a more casual look. Plus it’s totally affordable! When the weather gets more chilly wear a long sleeve shirt with color to make it pop like this yellow one shown here. Looove this look! To find out more, click on over to our friends at Coquette!

Recession Chic: 10 Must-Have Messenger Bags Under $75!

imageIf your lengthy list of resolutions has so far only amounted to a big 2010 FAIL, it may not be entirely your fault. Sometimes when you get too ambitious with your start-of-the-year goals, your plans can contradict each other. For example, it’s hard to spend more quality time with your family while still leaving sufficient time for the gym. And it’s nearly impossible to be stylish, stay organized, and keep yourself on a budget all at the same time. Or is it? I’m here to let you know that you can confidently throw that beat-up old backpack in the trash — there are more fashionable alternatives for staying neat and organized on the go for work or school. Keep your laptop safe and close at hand with a messenger bag from Target (only $24.99!), or if you’d prefer something a little more versatile, this messenger backpack from Urban Outfitters can be used for anything from school to a celebratory post-work happy hour (yes, you can still go out on a budget too!). Browse the slideshow for more of my favorite cute carry-alls at recession-friendly costs!

Flirt Shamelessly This Season With Fall’s Spiky Lashes

imageI’ve always been a serious eyeliner girl, collecting everything from smoky kohl pencils in every color to budge-proof creme liner pots to liquid glitter liner. But my most recent beauty obsession? Spiky lashes — either blacked-out versions of your natural lashes, or a little added help from a handy set of falsies like Kim Kardashian’s. Unlike thick, showgirl-esque, llama-looking lashes that focus on heavy volume, fall’s take on the lash trend gives you dramatic length without verging on unnatural. In other words, you’ll have people commenting on how jealous they are of your flirty peepers instead of asking if you just walked off a Vegas stage. Take a look at the slideshow to browse some products that’ll help you get your lashes long and spiky! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Hot In The Hive: Meringue Rings

imageI have to admit that while I work in the notoriously food phobic fashion industry, I love all aspects of food. If you’re ever a fly on the wall of the Stylehive office, you can hear most of us gab about the latest cheap eats or restaurants we’ve been to. So of course, I’ve got to have some fashion accessories that look like food like my Ritz Cracker earrings and gum drop necklace. My fingers have been feeling lonely from the lack of food related goodies, but today’s the day! I found these super charming Meringue Rings that look good enough to eat. These realistic treats may look like they’re made of sugar and egg whites, but it’s actually silicone. They come in three sizes and inexpensive enough to buy as stocking stuffers for all your food loving fashionista friends. Just don’t be tempted to nibble on them!

Price: $22
Who Found It: facadeindreams was first to add the Meringue Rings to the Hive.

Eight Almost-Too-Good-To-Be-Guilt-Free Holiday Indulgences!

imageIt’s a pretty well known fact that we all tend to gain a few pounds during the holidays. The endless holiday parties, Christmas cookies and spiked apple cider are just too hard to resist for most of us. But with all the parties, it’s actually the time of year I want to look my best in my little black cocktail dresses. One way to curb a nagging sweet tooth? Sugary sweet beauty products that have all the holiday cheer and feel without all the consequences. Turn your pre-party bubble bath in a delicious creme brulee soak with Laura Mercier’s honey bath. Light some sweet scented candles all over the house to give off the warm holiday feel of hot buttered rum and cookies baking. A chocolate or pumpkin spiced lip balm will keep you satisfied with high shine, great taste and perfectly kissable lips for those under-the-mistletoe smooches. Check out the SLIDESHOW for more sweet treats that will keep you looking hot in your body-conscious frocks!
