Hot In The Hive: R.I.P. Tombstone Nail Color

imageSo far, we’ve given you lots of options for Halloween makeup, in case you’re looking for an excuse to splurge on more dramatic products and shades you may normally not allow yourself to indulge in on any average day. But what if your beauty budget doesn’t exactly allow for high-end costume-y makeup you know you’ll never use again until it’s way past its expiration date? Luckily, the lines carried at Sephora aren’t the only ones boasting Halloween-friendly products — bargain drugstore brands are going festive with their shades too. Wet ‘N Wild’s costume-specific line, Fantasy Makers, has just released their own mini-collection of R.I.P. Tombstone Nail Polish just for the spooky season. While the three different shades (shiny black, multicolored glitter, and a sheer glow-in-the-dark shade) are pretty “Halloweenie,” they’re inexpensive enough to be worth the splurge. Plus, the bottle is totally cute, in an appropriately morbid sort of way…

Price: $2.50 each

Hanukkah Trinkets And Treats For Eight Crazy Nights!

imageAs a kid, I fondly remember being far more excited about Hanukkah than say, my own birthday. I mean come on– eight nights of presents is so much better than one! Of course, that tradition sadly ended when I was around 10, and not long after, I was a tad crushed to find that the menorah I so diligently crafted in preschool (eight Lifesavers-turned-candle holders glued to a wooden plank- so modern!) had been replaced with a stainless steel one– growing up is tough. Nevertheless, I still look forward to the holiday with the same childlike excitement. Hanukkah begins at sundown this Friday, so click on the slideshow to see an assortment of Hanukkah trinkets and treats– jelly donuts and latkes not included!

Make Your Wedding The Sweetest Day Ever With A Candy Buffet!

imageForget picture frame magnets, mixed CDs, and those other gimmicky favors you’ve been considering doling out to your wedding attendees. Get on your guests’ sweet side with a spread of sweet treats! Candy buffets are a fun, colorful reception trend nowadays that are used in place of favors (no, not in place of dinner!) and look gorgeously festive when matched with your wedding colors. With overflowing tiers of homemade goods, trays of colorful truffles, or decorative jars full of your everyday favorite goodies, you can arrange a beautiful table complete with cute candy scoops and personalized to-go boxes and part with guests on a sweet note! You can even ditch the color scheme and stick with a theme, like a fireside s’mores bar for a rustic reception! Hot In The Hive: Urban Decay Rocks

imageAs a big fan of Urban Decay for all my more indulgent beauty buys (glittery eyeliner, purple opalescent eyeshadow…), it came as no surprise to discover that the brand has recently released their own collection of stick-on crystals to bling out your makeup look! The Urban Decay Rocks kit comes with 24 tiny crystals (in gold, silver, and iridescent) and brush-on lash glue for easy bedazzling. Use on the outer and/or inner corners of your eyes, on your nails, or even along cheekbones if you’re feeling especially Lady GaGa-esque. While it’s certainly a bold beauty move, it’s a fun way to jazz up your New Year’s look — all you need is the confidence to pull it off and a steady hand!

LemonDrop Suggests You “Trick Or Chic” With Fashion-Inspired Costume Ideas!

imageCraving a Halloween costume that’s not so much scary as it is stylish? Why not pay homage to an iconic fashion personality? From a ghoulish Karl Lagerfeld to a monstrous cat-wielding Kenley Collins, these get-ups are just right for fashionistas who are less into “boo” and more into “Goo … cci.” How about Anna Wintour? Between her pow-wow with David Letterman and the success of “The September Issue,” it may just be the Year of the Icy British Editrix. Here’s what you’ll need:

-elegant dress or skirt suit
-bobbed wig with bangs
-fabulous heels
-devil’s accessories
-sunglasses
-copy of Vogue
-haughty attitude

You may not be able to snap your fingers and have a designer frock suddenly appear, but you can fake it. Simply throw on your finest skirt suit or dress (bearing in mind that Ms. Wintour does not do black), affix an inverted triangle Prada label you’ve cleverly made out of construction paper, stick some devil’s horns atop your bobbed wig, and slap on some giant black shades. Extra points for carrying a copy of Vogue or having your giant Andre Leon Talley lookalike BFF hover behind you in a cape. Click over to Lemondrop for three more clever ideas!
