LemonDrop Suggests You “Trick Or Chic” With Fashion-Inspired Costume Ideas!

imageCraving a Halloween costume that’s not so much scary as it is stylish? Why not pay homage to an iconic fashion personality? From a ghoulish Karl Lagerfeld to a monstrous cat-wielding Kenley Collins, these get-ups are just right for fashionistas who are less into “boo” and more into “Goo … cci.” How about Anna Wintour? Between her pow-wow with David Letterman and the success of “The September Issue,” it may just be the Year of the Icy British Editrix. Here’s what you’ll need:

-elegant dress or skirt suit
-bobbed wig with bangs
-fabulous heels
-devil’s accessories
-sunglasses
-copy of Vogue
-haughty attitude

You may not be able to snap your fingers and have a designer frock suddenly appear, but you can fake it. Simply throw on your finest skirt suit or dress (bearing in mind that Ms. Wintour does not do black), affix an inverted triangle Prada label you’ve cleverly made out of construction paper, stick some devil’s horns atop your bobbed wig, and slap on some giant black shades. Extra points for carrying a copy of Vogue or having your giant Andre Leon Talley lookalike BFF hover behind you in a cape. Click over to Lemondrop for three more clever ideas!

Hot In The Hive: Beer In A Boot For Father’s Day!

imageFather’s Day is a step around the corner and I never know what to get my dad! I crossed ties off the list many years ago (he made me), he probably has bathrobe and slipper sets to last him two lifetimes, and all those cool gadgets and grill tools that my brother and I were gonna go halfsies on? He’s already bought them for himself! So, I think this year, I will go for a gift that’s something fun mixed with something a little traditional. Most men like beer… maybe even borderline love. Men have loved beer throughout the ages so much that German soldiers would drink it out of their boots, rather than not drink it at all! So this Father’s Day, get your dad the gift of tradition and beer with a glass beer boot from HomeWetBar! These glass boots hold up to 18 oz of beer which is about half a liter. Not big enough? They also come in two liter boot sizes! Dad may be sick of getting house slippers, but here’s some footwear that he’ll love to get out and use again and again! At $20 each, get a pair of beer boots and join your father for a Father’s Day brewski!

Price: $19.95

The Reluctant Givers’ Gift Guide

imageEveryone has ’em: people who you’d prefer to send a gag to rather than a gift. The busybody mother-in-law. The frenemy who’s somehow firmly entrenched in your crew of friends. The jerky coworker you happen to draw in the Secret Santa pool at the office. Or maybe it’s the awkwardness that comes along with gifting someone you’ve just started dating. Manners dictate that you not overlook them on your holiday list yet how do you shop for people who, plain and simple, are unavoidable thorns in your side when it comes to gift giving? I recently attended celebrity stylist Robert Verdi’s guide to holiday gifting event, and got some inspired ideas for those one or two difficult someone specials that fall on everyone’s list. Check out the slideshow for suggested gifts and tips!

Babes In Boo-land: Halloween Costumes For Little Ones!

imageAt age one, I was a mouse, and front-page news for winning my small town’s Halloween costume contest. While my fifteen minutes of fame has come and gone, there may be a little one in your life who has a winning future too. Yes, sometimes toddlers don’t like costumes — or clothes in general, for that matter — but wrestling them into an over-sized, plush lobster may just be worth the hassle. It’s probably true that junior won’t remember his or her first anything let alone the first October 31st, but the pictures will live to tell the story of a good costume. The best thing about these costumes is that they’re timeless, and certainly reusable for the next little nugget that will fit into them. Don’t make them too scary though — the thought of getting a toddler into a costume is frightening enough. Click through the slideshow for some adorable Halloween costumes for babies!
