J.Lo, Katy, Or Vivica: Who Rocked Basic Black Best At The “This Is It” Premiere?

imageIt’s no surprise that a documentary on the late and great Michael Jackson would draw in a crowd of A-list celebrities, all wanting to show their love and support for the King of Pop. The tragic and sudden death of the greatest entertainer of all time sent shock waves through the community and “This Is It” is one way to commemorate Jackson, as well as keep him with us for a little longer. Everybody who’s anybody, and their mom and kids, showed up dressed to impress with styles ranging from dressed up tees to floor-sweeping gowns. One common color that celebrities showed up in was chic head-to-toe black ensembles that were edgy, sexy, sleek or just plain sweet. Perhaps it was out of respect for the loss that the Jackson family and the rest of the world has recently endured, but there’s no denying that they all looked like “Pretty Young Things.” So who do you think rocked the basic black look the best? The acclaimed senior fashion editor at Elle and style icon to all urban girls everywhere manages to take grey and black and combine them, twist them, and surprise you with a few basic ingredients. Seriously, just do a quick Google image search – you’ll see Lanphear in jeans, t-shirts, blazers, and cashmere, and always looking chic. She’s a serious reminder that a minimalist closet can take you very far. Just stock up on a few key pieces and you’ll be on your merry way to super-star style status. Flare With Fruit: Banana Vase

imageEvery home needs a unique piece to focus on. Personally, I’m a fan of subtle humor, and a banana vase plated in silver is pretty much hilarious, and a great conversation starter! Don’t get me wrong, you still need to have some class in your place and I think Jonathan Adler’s banana vase really captures the essence of mature humor. This vase is arty, quirky, funny, and totally unique, so I find it completely necessary to add this piece to my living room collection. It’s not only a really great piece of art, but it’s functional, too since it’s designed to hold a small bouquet of flowers! Regular vases are so blah and predictable, why waste an amazing flower arrangement in a not so amazing vase? Plus, think of all the great puns you can get in with a vase shaped like a banana, it’s so a-peel-ing (sorry, I couldn’t help myself!).

The Hottest Over-The-Knee Boots For Fall

Whether you’re sporting a short skirt or a pair of skinny jeans, some over-the-knees or thigh highs are the perfect way to warm your legs this fall. Although our budgets couldn’t get us the same shoes that our favorite celebrities rock, it’s still possible to get this look that’s become trademark of some of our favorite female stars. Unlike our cowboy and ankle boots, these boots are capable of flashing an intriguing slice of skin when paired with short bottoms– and showing less skin can often be sexier as it leaves the curves of your legs to the viewer’s imagination. He’s been making shoes for over twenty years, first as a design apprentice and now for his eponymous line. His designs are known for being high quality, unique, and of course, totally sexy. One of his latest creations is no exception to the rule. His Swarovski-embellished sandals are over the top and super glamorous. I think they’d be the perfect pair of shoes to wear if you’re going to a fashionable Halloween costume party whether you’re dressed as a witch or even as Victoria Beckham. Hanukkah Trinkets And Treats For Eight Crazy Nights!

imageAs a kid, I fondly remember being far more excited about Hanukkah than say, my own birthday. I mean come on– eight nights of presents is so much better than one! Of course, that tradition sadly ended when I was around 10, and not long after, I was a tad crushed to find that the menorah I so diligently crafted in preschool (eight Lifesavers-turned-candle holders glued to a wooden plank- so modern!) had been replaced with a stainless steel one– growing up is tough. Nevertheless, I still look forward to the holiday with the same childlike excitement.
