Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

Designers Antrepo have created conceptual packaging design for well-known supermarket products by stripping back the existing graphics in stages.

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

Called Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market, the experiment asks readers to choose which of the stages they prefer.

More information on the designers’ blog.

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

The information that follows is from Antrepo:

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market

Our last project is about simplicity and we try to find alternate simple version for some package samples of the international brands. We think almost every product needs some review for minimal feeling.

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

What is your choice in these 3 different variations?
1. Original variation
2. Simple variation
3. More simple variation

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

P.S. This project is only a design practice for showing minimal feeling of some international samples. It is an article about unnecessary items on the global brands, any of them, second or third variations are not new packaging proposals!

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

A dose of minimalism and efforts for changing the perception is maybe the simplest definition for Antrepo Design Product.

Minimalist Effect in the Maximalist Market by Antrepo

Antrepo is a multi-disciplinary design consultancy. Also It produces a fresh design object for better tomorrow like posters, industrial object, fonts etc.

Here’s some more information from THEY:

THEY UNVEIL NEW DESIGNS FOR OWN-BRAND CHAMPAGNE

THEY, the Amsterdam-based communications agency, introduce the latest collection of designer bottles for Zarb, their own-brand champagne. Following the successful launch of the champagne in the Netherlands in 2009, Zarb has also been introduced in Belgium, France, Asia, the United States and beyond.

For the new collection, THEY (Ad Age’s Small Agency of the Year 2009) are again working together with international pioneers such as deep sea photographer David Shale, underwater photographer Zena Holloway and renowned costume designer Vin Burnham.

The new collection was officially launched at the opening of a pop-up store in Amsterdam’s trendy ‘Nine-Streets’ district. Divers surfaced from the canal and delivered the collection to the store, which will be open from 15 December until the beginning of January.

Zarb is a unique combination of traditional champagne with an unconventional look. The brand owes its name to French slang – ‘zarb’ means ‘bizarre’. Following 2009’s Skin Collection with photography by Cornelie Tollens, the new collection Deep Black: The Underwater Exploration has taken the wonders of the underwater world as its inspiration.

The first new bottle in the collection is a journey through the eyes of deep sea photographer David Shale. He has taken pictures down to depths of 5000 metres in order to show us a marvellous world that we have never seen before.

Zarb designed the bottle as an adventure into the unknown, modelled on the magnificent creatures of the deep.

For the second bottle, we swim from the depths up to the surface, where angelic mermaids can be found. Zarb’s design was brought to life by photos from London-based underwater photographer and director Zena Holloway.

She has previously worked for famous names such as Vogue, Nike and Mastercard and has also won several international awards.

THREE packaging by Nendo

Three by Nendo

Japanese designers Nendo have designed stackable packaging for a range of products by Japanese cosmetics brand THREE.

Three by Nendo

The bottles have been designed to resemble blocks of stone that can be displayed together in any configuration.

Three by Nendo

The products can be displayed by stacking them in different ways.

Three by Nendo

Light and dark shades of grey distinguish the different products.

Three by Nendo

Photographs are by Masayuki Hayashi.

Read all our stories about Nendo in our special category.

Three by Nendo

Here’s some more information from the designers:

We designed packaging design for Japanese cosmetic brand “THREE”

“THREE” designed by nendo / Design concept

The packaging design for cosmetics brand THREE. The brand name refers to the three keywords that describe THREE’s fundamental values: ‘natural, honest and creative’.

Three by Nendo

The brand honours the bounty of nature by using natural ingredients whenever possible. It is honest about its ingredients, allowing no genetically modified products, artificial scents or colours.

Three by Nendo

And it respects the creative generation of style that is free and unconstrained by existing attitudes.

Three by Nendo

Our motif for integrating these three core values into the packaging was the image of blocks carved from natural stone.

Three by Nendo

Blocks of stone are a natural material shaped patiently by human hand; stacked together, they become architecture, freely formed by human creativity and the attributes of the materials.

Three by Nendo

The final design for the products is a simple one that resembles a block of stone.

Three by Nendo

The different bottles can be stacked horizontally or vertically, and fit together perfectly, a pleasant surprise.

Three by Nendo

The rubber finish feels moist in the hand, and the edges are soft and rounded, as though worn away over time. These and other small, thoughtful touches make the products an unexpected delight to use.

Three by Nendo

We used two different warm shades of grey to distinguish between the skin care and makeup lines, but pared away all other design elements to the bare minimum to bring out the appeal of the products themselves.

Nativas Naturals

goji-berries.jpg goji-berry-processed.jpg

Borrowing their name from the Latin word for energy, Navitas Naturals makes the best in exotic organic and raw superfoods packaged in equally refreshing zip-top bags. The Marin County, CA-based company’s 24 functional foods have seemingly unlimited possibilities for use. From simple snacking to flour substitutes, they all work as both a tasty ingredients and valuable sources of nutrition.

lucuma-powder-processed.jpg lucuma-powder-1.jpg

Navitas founder Zach Adelman was introduced to maca, a nutrient-dense root vegetable grown and consumed by the indigenous people of the Andes, while traveling through South America. Maca increases stamina and energy; Incan warriors used it in preparation for war. He brought it back to the U.S. and started selling it in powder and capsule forms. (It’s also used in some specialty chocolates.) Since then Adelman’s goal has been to search the world for “functional foods that have been used by traditional cultures for both medicine and nourishment.”

maca-powder.jpg maca-powder-caps.jpg

Bountiful information can be found on the Navitas website, which reads like an encyclopedic guide, filled with recipes, random facts, health benefits, and info on where Adelman sources the products. Available at Whole Foods stores and online, prices and quantities vary.
