Chic Curtains Add Style And Shade To Your Room

imageDo you ever wake up with the sun in your eyes? Sure it may be a natural wake up call, but surely there are days where you just want to sleep in. That means you should cover up those naked windows with some chic curtains! Curtains can shield your eyes (and your furniture) from the harsh sunlight, keep the cold or heat out, and make any room look more put together. Shopping for window treatments can be confusing so make sure you measure all the windows and bring the measurements with you to the store. It also helps to bring swatches of any furniture you have in the room to make sure none of the colors clash with your new curtains. Besides getting curtains, don’t forget the curtain rods, finials, holdbacks, and tiebacks. Take a look at my slideshow to see them all.

“Gossip Girl” Gets Even More Fashionable!

imageYes, it’s possible. As if the clothes on “Gossip Girl” weren’t chic enough, now, two very well-known fashion designers are making cameos on the show’s upcoming new season. And those women are Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman. Both Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman were spotted at the “Gossip Girl” studio in Long Island, NY, filming scenes for the new season. It’s a big secret how the two fashionistas will be woven into the show’s plot, but it was revealed that some of the set was made to look like Tory Burch’s office. So, we’re thinking one of the girls is trying to get a job? Or a college internship? Chapman said, “I am a huge fan [of Gossip Girl]. I was very nervous [on-set].” We have a feeling she did a fine job. We’re getting more and more excited about the new season of “Gossip Girl” as we keep hearing about new cast members and guest celebrities. It’s gonna be a good one! Tory and Georgina’s scenes will air on the October 5th episode. Click on over to our friends at Limelife for more!

Get Rich With Joyrich At Karmaloop This Fall

imageJoyrich’s dope new Fall collection is now available at Karmaloop.com! Supporting the image of being casual and laid-back but yet posh and luxurious, the LA-based label has been designed to promote a lifestyle that is rich in content. The collection intertwines high-end apparel techniques with contemporary street casual fabrics and fits, delivering influential ’90s styles like the classic acid washed denim and the multi-faceted varsity jackets. The most appealing aspect of this collection is that it was created to be accessibly worn on or off the runway, producing a smart balance between both the men and women’s line. Not to mention, an impressive collaboration with designer extraordinaire, Brian Lichtenberg – the two labels have come together to produce clean and form fitting tees, like The BL x Joyrich Tee. Joyrich’s super hip mixture of clothing carries a fresh energy and contemporary chic appeal, which is very much reflected in all of its pieces. Back-To-School Beauty: 10 Products To Keep In Your Locker

imageYup, it’s that time of year again. The dreaded first day of school is fast approaching. And what better way to soften the blow of having to kiss your summer freedom goodbye than makeup shopping? After all, three-ring binders and dorm room decor aren’t the only things you need to stock up on when it comes to preparing to hit the books again. In order to really be ready for the semester ahead (and treat yourself in the process), you ought to look at some portable locker loot that you can keep on-hand for mid-day makeup emergencies and touch-ups during passing periods. For example, imagine how much sweeter the day would be if you could stop by your locker for a quick spritz of your favorite fragrance or a swipe of blush to add some color to your just-saw-your-test-grade ghostly complexion! Even if you’re way past your locker days, check out the slideshow for some handy to-go products you can keep in your schoolbag, desk, or car for the long and studious days ahead!

Cheap Thrills: Marc Jacobs “Special Items” That Are Worth The Trek To The Store!

imageAny devoted Marc Jacobs fan knows about the exclusive special items— those generally cheap, kitschy, and cute little trinkets that can be found at any Marc by Marc store (and on eBay, “MARC-ed” up of course). You can pretty much go in, scoop up a couple rhinestone rings, a tote, and a book, and walk out of the store having only spent $40. The best part of this entire scenario? You get the iconic Marc Jacobs carrier bag, so the rest of the world knows you shop at stores that garner a Yelp rating of $$$, which may lead them to believe you are a successful human being (or just connected to one). All kidding aside though, I love that the stores sell these items- it gives me a reason to wander through the racks, make a mental wishlist of everything I want but can’t have, and then drown my sorrows in $1 keychains and $3 fingerless gloves. Click on the slideshow to see the goodies worth making the trip to the store!

Amsterdam International Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Ilja Visser

imageWhile designer Ilja Visser juggles three different labels at once, she manages to convey one overall cohesive message that spans across all three innovative lines: easy sophistication. For this year’s Amsterdam International Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2010, she focused on presenting this theme while showing off all three unique labels. The three collections — “Ilja” (couture), “Ready To Fish” (business line), and “Valizz” (affordable fashion) — each had a clear target audience, yet all managed to have that relaxed, fluid silhouette and a soft color palette. Valizz looked very wearable and appropriately commercial with soft pastels, fluid fabrics and classic basics like simple jackets, jeans and wide trousers. Ready-to-wear< consisted of dresses, jackets and skirts in softer colors and faded prints. Couture by Ilja boasted a variety of extreme volume in dresses but also through some chic pieces in a summery tweed. Love what you see? Good news: next year she will open her first boutique in Amsterdam! Check out the slideshow for some of the runway highlights!
