The Minimalist Coffee Brewing Scale

Fresh roasted beans, a nice dripper and fine-tuned grinder are great, but serious coffee drinkers know that using a scale rather than measured scoops is the only way to achieve the elusive perfect cup! For ease of use and cleanliness, the Acaia scale uses responsive, waterproof, touch-sensitive buttons and a flat, silicon bottom rather than extended feet to enhance it’s minimal look. Better yet, there’s an iPhone app that will not only show the weight, but keep track of brew time and coffee recipes!

How Toxic Are You?

With the current GMO outcry, it is important that we ensure that what we are eating is nutritious and not the opposite. Nurtima is a kitchen scale that calculates the nutritional values, possible toxins and freshness of your food and ingredients. The scale combines piezoelectricity with smart and flexible technologies, and is charged by bending repeatedly. This action creates enough electric charge for the scale to operate for the duration required.

The scale along with weight, analyzes the food’s or ingredient’s weight, basic nutritional information (energy, protein, carbohydrates and fat content), freshness level, and cautions the user of high levels of the most common toxins, such as mercury.
It can also be used as a traditional kitchen scale when measuring ingredients in a bowl.

Nutrima is a 2013 Electrolux Design Lab semi-finalist.

Measure and Mix in One

Rather than weigh out ingredients one by one and then toss into the bowl, the appliance doubles as a scale to make measuring a seamless part of the workflow. Cleaner, more efficient, and easy-to-use, it’s an innovative hybrid solution for the serious chef.

Scoop ‘n Weigh

Scoop is an electronic scale integrated into the measuring scoop, intended for the local grocers who sell by the measure. It is not only handy in eliminating a step, but also promises accuracy. I can picture this being used in kitchens as well, especially when we need to bake and measure out the ingredients as accurately as possible. Over all, a nice plausible design!

Ballicious Your Kitchen

This ingenious kitchen scale, quite simply called “Ball,” is as adorable as it is practical. The simple, contemporary design needs only to have the lid removed to operate the standard scale located in the lower hemisphere. When you’re finished, replace the lid and you’ve got a playful and colorful accessory for your kitchen countertop!
