Workspace of the Week: Small-space simplicity in black

This week’s Workspace of the Week is TypeFiend’s (Gregory Han’s) closet office:

I don’t usually choose offices from our Flick pool that I know have already been highlighted on other websites for our Workspace of the Week selection. However, I’m so in love with TypeFiend’s office that I’m making an exception. Check out “The Black Hole Home Office” on Unplggd to see how a walk-in closet has been transformed into a home office paradise (well, at least for someone who isn’t claustrophobic). The office extends to the left where a printer, equipment, and office supplies are stored. Thank you, TypeFiend, for your submission to our Flickr pool.

Workspace of the Week: Computer command center

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Aldebaran’s home office:

There are many beautiful things about this workspace — so many, actually, I couldn’t list them all in a reasonable amount of space. A few of my favorites: In the notes for the image, Aldebaran says that the wooden box on the bottom left shelf are where he stores all of his bills that need to be paid (attractive and useful). I love the “vanity panels” under the desk that hide vast number of cables out of sight. And, even though there are at least 10 computers in this office, their arrangement is terrifically uncluttered. Thank you, Aldebaran, for your fantastic submission to our Flickr pool. I am in awe.

Workspace of the Week: Green creativity

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Greg.Newman’s studio:

I chose this office because of its well-lit drafting table, minimalist computer desk, ample and appropriate storage, wall-mounted guitar, and inviting green walls. I think most anyone could work in this organized space. Greg.Newman added he still has a couple additions left to make:

Only thing left to do is find two framed paintings to hang above the cabinets and find out if I can find glass doors from Ikea to replace that ugly red.

Thank you, Greg, for submitting your fantastic space to our Flickr pool. Your office is inspiring.

Workspace of the Week: Outdoor office retreat

This week’s Workspace of the Week is NomadJim’s tropical paradise:

Did you miss the office? I did the first couple times I looked at the picture. Here, I’ll help you find it:

Gorgeous! If I could actually concentrate enough in this beautiful scenery to do work, I can think of fewer places more visually inspiring to get a job done. NomadJim is one lucky individual. I can’t tell if there is a laptop tray for the computer, but I would add one if there isn’t (especially one that allows for airflow under the battery and processor — don’t want to broil your legs on the patio). Otherwise, this setup looks like perfection. Now, if you’ll all please excuse me, I’m going to close my eyes and daydream for a couple minutes.

Workspace of the Week: Standing room only

This week’s Workspace of the Week is RawPhil’s DIY standing desk:

RawPhil provided a detailed description of his workspace with his image:

Ever since seeing standing desks on Lifehacker.com i’ve always thought what a beautifully simple idea. With so many benefits of health, fitness, time saving and minimalist living soon after i brought my own place i set about installing my own. Recently finished off with the black desk top (£13 Ikea) I absolutely love it. I fidget and move about more whilst at the PC which can only be good, i get done what i need to with less procrastinating and my aimless viewing of YouTube has at least halved.

The Dual monitors was something I set up years ago when i used to play the stock market, but still couldn’t do with out.

The Areca Palms [next to the desk] are there for their amazing air cleaning abilities.

Thank you, RawPhil, for introducing us to your innovative office. More images of the desk and how it was made can be found in RawPhil’s photostream.

Workspace of the Week: Workbench wonderland

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Bondcliff’s basement workshop:

A close up of the left side of the room, which is described as the “tool side” of the workspace:

Bondcliff describes the right side as the “nerd side” of the workspace:

This is the electronics/ crafts/ computer side of the bench. Everything for the Dremel is in the little organizer with the labels on it … The PC is mostly for reference and to play music from Pandora or my MP3 library.

I must admit that I am in awe of this space. After clearing the clutter from my basement recently, it didn’t look this nice this after I had finished. Click on the images above to go to Flickr to see the detailed notes he has made about each photograph. Thank you, Bondcliff, for such a wonderful addition to our Flickr pool.

Workspace of the Week: Efficient laundry area

This week’s Workspace of the Week is KLDesignBuild’s laundry area:

This could very well be the perfect laundry area. There’s a pair of stacked Samsung front loaders, a large counter space to fold clothes, plenty of cabinet space, and a valet rod for clothes hangers within immediate reach of the dryer.

But, the feature that really caught our eyes is the drawer that folds out into an ironing board. Genius!

Workspace of the Week: Wonderful workshop

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Maida Vale’s luxury letter press workshop:

I am in awe of this workspace. The under the counter shelving (Ikea?) perfectly holds supplies for printing and for running the business. In the back left corner on the counter top, I also love the food serving tray that has been repurposed for small supply storage (binder clips, ink). Everything in this workshop has a place, and everything is in its place. Before, this entire area was an unfinished basement, and now it’s a gorgeous print shop. Check out Maida Vale’s photostream for product samples and more detailed images of the office before and after renovations — inspiring!

Workspace of the Week: Paper processing

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Inklore’s at-home business office:

This space could use a little cable management, but otherwise it is a really well-organized office. I particularly like how the two clipboards that (I assume) are used frequently are extremely accessible. The desk legs do double duty as filing cabinets, which is utilitarian and a nice design element. The other side of the office is where Inklore does her print making and sewing that she sells on Etsy (the pillow on the chair is one of hers). The side of the room we’ve featured here is where she does her order fulfillment and pencil pushing. Two offices in one space makes a great deal of sense and definitely keeps things organized. Thank you, Inklore, for your submission to our Flickr pool.

Workspace of the Week: She’s crafty

This week’s Workspace of the Week is |_viviana_|’s quaint craft space:

This craft desk and shelving is wonderfully designed to contain |_viviana_|’s supplies in an organized and useful fashion. With the large work table, I can only imagine how great it is for projects large and small. The portable drawer storage is perfect for unsightly items, the task light appears to be extremely functional, and even the chair looks comfortable. Best of all, I think I love the button storage in the jars on the shelf. Sometimes supplies are worthy of being seen. Thank you, |_viviana_|, for sharing your inspiring craft workspace with us.
