Workspace of the Week: The bare essentials

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Sybarites’ antique office:

I really enjoy how the modern computer looks elegant against the antique backdrop. I’ll let the owner of the desk give you its details:

This is my primary work station. What more does one need? The desk was found in an antique shop in Calgary. Another disappointed couple was coming into buy it as we were carrying it out.

My MacBook runs closed under the monitor, which doesn’t give access to the DVD on this model, but I hardly use it. A power bar is tucked behind the desk on the window ledge.

You can see how steep our street is out the window. I get a little distracted watching people try to park on it.

He provides even more details about the setup in the comments to the photograph. Thank you, Sybarites, for submitting such an inspiring workspace to our group.

Workspace of the Week: Garage wonderland

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Jake Loupe’s well-organized garage:

This week’s entry isn’t a workspace in the traditional sense, but I can only imagine that this area sees a lot of work. As per our site motto, there is a place for everything, and everything is in its place. Before the weather gets warm, you may want to take Jake’s lead and get your garage ready for summer use. Thank you, Jake, for creating such an inspiring space.

Workspace of the Week: An Unclutterer’s office

This week’s Workspace of the Week is my office:

For more than two years I was working at a minimalist work station, which ultimately wasn’t meeting my needs. All of the items I needed to do my job were across the room in my Mary Poppins closet and not nearby for efficient work. In January, I hit my breaking point and decided to makeover my office. Minimalism was out, and convenience and efficiency moved in.

I wrote about the transformation process in a series of four posts in my RealSimple.com column:

I’m not an interior designer, so it’s not the prettiest office ever featured on our site. However, it is organized and meets every one of my needs. Plus, I’m pretty sure a few of you were curious as to what an Unclutterer’s office looks like. Enjoy!

Workspace of the Week: Crafts contained

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Ali’s craft office:

One thing is for certain, Ali is an organized crafter. Her space is perfect for her needs and even the smallest of items (like her stamps) has a home. For even more fantastic pictures and a detailed description of how the space is used, check out Ali’s office tour on her blog. This space is truly incredible. Thank you, Ali, for sharing your office with us.

Workspace of the Week: Wooden desk makeover

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Leia511’s newly reorganized home office:

For the second week in a row we have a before-and-after selection for our feature. I really enjoy the after picture and seeing how she contained, cleared, and cleaned up her space. You can read more about her experience on her blog. Thank you, Leia551, for your inspiring submission!

Workspace of the Week: Office makeover

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Tabitha’s refreshed space.

Here it is before:

And here it is after:

This is another one of those times when the person who submitted the images can do a much better job of explaining the space. I recommend going to Tabitha’s blog and reading a full step-by-step run down of how she transformed her office into a beautifully organized space. Thank you, Tabitha, for submitting your office and for such a wonderful description of how you made it possible!

Workspace of the Week: Simple split desk

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Nicole’s small office:

I picked this week’s office simply because I like the way it looks. It’s clutter free and would be easy to reproduce. I’ll let the desk owner supply the details from the photographs’ descriptions:

The bottom level [of the desk] slides out so I can keep my books on it for studying and note taking. I also keep my sodas and stuff there so I don’t spill them on my computer. The deskpad keeps ink, coffee, etc. off my desk. The top level holds my computer, my lamp, my picture frame, and my special Hello Kitty Pez.

When I’m done studying or just want to goof off online, I can slide my books out of the way.

The desk has a power strip mounted in the top back of the desk top. It also has a usb, phone, and ethernet jack (although I use wifi).

Thank you, Nicole, for such a terrific submission to our flickr pool.

Workspace of the Week: Wall writing

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Hillary’s home office:

I chose this office because it does such a terrific job at putting the wall space behind the desk to functional use. The multi-month calendars, the magnetic chalk board, and the bulletin boards act as an information center for their user. The tickler file at the left of the desk is a great idea for organizing outgoing paperwork with time-sensitive information. The lack of a power cord for the laptop confuses me (where is the power source?), but overall it looks like a highly functional and organized space. Thank you, Hillary, for your submission to our flickr pool.
