Street Style – It’s Raining Men!

imageWith the recent drizzles and gloomy weather, it’s no surprise that many of us are opting to go the casual and comfy route with oversized tops, long pants and flat shoes that’ll keep the water out! But while staying dry is a top priority, that doesn’t mean that staying stylish isn’t! While tight skirts, flirty dresses and sky-high stilettos are out when it comes to staying comfortably dry and stylish in this wet weather, we can look to our male countertops for inspiration.

There are some guys out there with real enviable tastes and really know how to dress to impress. Plus, their ensembles are usually quite comfortable and practical as well! Oversized parkas, long blazers, worn jeans and flat boots are just a few things that our favorite men wear that we wouldn’t mind donning ourselves!

Street Style – In Love With Leather And Lace

imageIt’s the month of All Hallow’s Eve, where the dead roam the Earth and girls get to wear sexy, skimpy outfits to celebrate. For those of us who really love the darker side and this wonderful holiday, getting dressed in a scary, but sexy costume for only one night is not enough!

While donning cat ears and a bodysuit may be jumping the gun a little, it’s a great time to dress with this spooky time in mind. Leather and lace are right on trend for this season and look equally amazing together or individually. Lace pieces can be both sexy and sweet with it’s sheer qualities and feminine ruffles and stitching, giving an ensemble the feel of romanticism and a ‘Victorian’ vibe. Leather, needless to say, it the edgiest of edgy materials and gives a tuff-gal appeal that’s perfect for the Halloween season and beyond.

Together, these two materials create a look that is unique and texturized, combining rocker-chic with lady-like elegance into one unique look. We love the way these girls find the perfect balance for their outfits! Click on the slideshow to see some fave picks on how you can get this look!

Street Style – Faux-cus On Fur!

imageFaux fur sprouted up last fall and winter season and is back with a vengeance for this year, too! With runway shows and store-front windows showcasing a wide array of couture and RTW faux-fur options, it’s hard not to want to get in on this fuzzy trend. A quality faux-fur looks and feels glamorous and stylish, but without the guilt of eliciting harm towards poor woodland creatures. While every fashion magazine and site out there is telling you hurry up and don this latest trend with the likes of a large vest or cozy coat, some of us may not be ready to try on this ‘brown-bear’ inspired look just yet.

No worries because faux-fur is available in other ways as well, like a warm and luxurious stole, or as a unique and fashion forward handbag. A shrug or stole is the perfect way fend off the chill without looking like you’re ready for hibernation, and other accessories give just the right touch of on-trend style.

International Street Style: Taipei, Taiwan

imageIt’s hard enough trying to keep up with the constantly changing trends in your part of the world. Ever wonder what’s going on style-wise in other countries? My recent trip to Taipei, Taiwan gave me a glimpse of the local fashion scene there with anything ranging from sweetly feminine to edgy hipster. While UGGS seemed to still run rampant, other style points like over the knee boots, leggings and asymmetrical layers were similar to the aesthetics we’re used to here in the U.S. Fuzzy fabrics and fun, colorful accessories were also popular and have yet to catch on here at home while animal prints and mismatched colors seem to be left to the more adventurous among us, regardless of where we’re from! Leighton Meester Wears Gold And Diamond Bat Necklace By Brazilian Designer Jack Vartanian

imageThis wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done a “Leighton Meester Wears..” post here on Stylehive, and so it’s safe to say she’s staying stylish enough for herself and alter ego Blair between seasons (speaking of which, is it September 14th yet?). The actress was spotted strolling in NYC wearing the “Bat Necklace” from Brazilian designer Jack Vartanian. Crafted from 18k rose gold and complete with tiny diamond eyes, it’s stunning and a bit spooky all at once. You can find the necklace along with the entire Jack Vartanian STUD collection at Barneys New York. In case you’re wondering, Leighton’s also wearing Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony wedge boots and Nina Ricci’s “Ondine” handbag. Tell us what you think of her look in comments!
