Sea-Inspired Accessories Help Turn Your Home Into A Beachside Escape!

imageIs there anything more relaxing than a tranquil stay at a beach-front home? While it may be hard to venture off to a seaside escape, bringing under-the-sea-inspired home decor and the soothing colors of the ocean into your own living space is easily doable and beneficial to everyone. While an under-the-sea theme usually conjures up the bright colors and cartoon-like sea creatures reminiscent of Disney movies and kids’ birthday parties, putting a more tasteful spin on things is easy! Subtle home accessories, peaceful colors and rich, quality materials make you home into a mini-beach front getaway, even if you live in the middle of the city. Get Sophisticated In Peplum Skirts And Dresses

imageWhat do Fergie, Lily Allen, and Rihanna all have in common (besides being famously popular singers)? They’ve been seen wearing peplum dresses and skirts! If you don’t know what a peplum is, it’s an addition of a short skirt-like panel over the waist on a dress or skirt. Reminiscent of Dior’s “New Look” and also of ’80s style, peplum dresses and skirts are feminine looks that accentuate hourglass figures. These days, the peplum combines the best of the retro sensibilities of the ’40s along with the youthful exuberance of the ’80s. Urban Outfitters gives us a taste of the 80s look with their Tribal Print Peplum Skirt made of one of a kind vintage fabrics. For a more classic look, turn to the Alice + Olivia Multi Gather Peplum Dress in a beautiful red satin that will be sure to turn heads at holiday parties. Take a peek at my slideshow for more peplum skirts and dresses!

Multi-Finger Rings Add Bling Without The Bulk

imageWhat girl doesn’t love jewelry and accessories? The right jewelry can make even a simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt seem trendy and more dressed up. I’m definitely guilty of wearing a lot of jewelry all the time with necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings on all at once. Although there are millions of beautiful rings out there though, that is the one item that cannot be piled on in multiples without running the risk of looking a certain Beatle. Cocktail rings were all the rage and still a great piece to add shine and glamour to your ensemble, but the new craze for your digits is the 2-3 finger ring. They’re unique and allow you to wear a little bling on more than one finger comfortably and stylishly. Plus, they kind of resemble glorified brass knuckles so make a little more room in that purse by throwing out the pepper spray and just don one of these pretty bad boys instead! Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite multi-finger rings and add one to your jewelry box today!

imagePrismera Design is happy to announce the launch of the eco-friendly Figment Collection for Holiday 2009. Hot In The Hive: Alessi ‘Carlo’ Ghost Bottle Cap

imageYou’re never too old to celebrate Halloween! While you may not be looking for a crazy costume party to go crash, a ghoulish get-together with friends may be just the thing for some Halloween fun. The decor is done, the scarily tasty menu has been decided and your outfit for your Halloween night is appropriately black and orange. A few bottles of wine to pop open and you’re all set. Don’t forget to grab Carlo! He’s a ghostly little guy that is too cute to be scary and loves to sit on top or your wine bottles as a festive bottle cap (if, for some reason, you don’t finish all the wine in one night). Designed by Alessi, the Carlo bottle cap comes in a variety of colors and is cheap enough so you can buy a few to add to your Halloween fun. You did finish all the wine? They’re just as cute and festive sitting around the table and mingling with the guests!

Price: $9.00

CollegeCandy’s 8 Stylish Steals Under $20 At Express!

imageSo, Express isn’t cheap. That is pretty obvious when you walk in and the hot shirt your eyeing for your birthday party is marked at $49. But every few months, they have a major sale. And I mean major. The kind that makes you giddy and happy and willing to sift through giant over-stuffed racks because the deals are just that good. You see, Express marks their stuff down to really low prices and then gives you an additional 20% off of that! That is some serious saving on a lot of really cute stuff. It’s a frugal fashionista’s dream. And that dream is coming true right now. I sifted through the (digital) racks for you and pulled 8 of my favorite pieces. They’re all under $20, so you can stock your closet without that annoying guilt getting in the way. I especially love these metallic ballet flats and this pleated square-back tank! Video Style Steal: Alicia Keys Is Sad But Sultry In “Doesn’t Mean Anything”

imageAlicia Keys has quite a lot of success under her belt for a woman at 28 (but then again, what else would you expect from a girl who was accepted into Columbia when she was 16?), with her shelf full of Grammy awards and four chart-topping studio albums. Aside from her musical growth (and ascending movie career), we’ve also seen quite a progression in her hairdo — from neat braids to unruly curls and now sleek and straight in her latest video, “Doesn’t Mean Anything.” But her hair isn’t the only thing that’s polished and chic. In a sparkly tunic, Alicia is classy as usual, and while she may be mournful and lonely in the video, I know I’d be much more cheerful if I had a hot pair of stiletto boots like hers! Check the slideshow to see some Alicia-inspired looks from her latest hit vid.
