Feathers showed up on the Spring 2010 runways of Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, Rodarte, and more. But one has to wonder why they aren’t viewed the same way as fur when it comes to issues of animal cruelty. Sure, most feathers used in fashion do come from animals provided to the meat industry, but PETA reports that there’s no kind way to obtain feathers and most birds have them painfully removed while still alive. Ouch! So, if you insist on indulging a feathered fashion whim, please choose vintage so at least you’ll prevent one more animal from being harmed.
