Puma Teams with Alexander McQueen for New Line of Clothing, Accessories

mcqueen scarf.jpg

The astoundingly versatile Alexander McQueen—for our money one of the most talented fashion designers alive—is branching out, this time with Puma. It was likely a match made in the boardroom, as Puma is owned by French conglomerate Pinault-Printemps-Redoute (PPR), which also owns Gucci Group, whose brands include Alexander McQueen. The designer has previously collaborated with Puma on footwear, and now the company is launching a McQueen-designed line of clothing (for men and women) and accessories. The collection, Alexander McQueen Puma, debuted yesterday in a short film shown during the Milan men’s shows and will hit stores this fall, WWD reported. Among the “performance-inspired” looks: men’s knitted rugby shirts with bat-wing sleeves, high-waisted combat pants, and women’s boots inspired by boxers’ footwear. McQueen isn’t likely to reprise his pugilistic Puma line’s “ergonomic cuts” and “combat bandage details” in another forthcoming collaboration: his McQ collection for Target, which bows in March.

  • Laugh In The Face Of Romance With Silly Valentine’s Lingerie!

Valentine’s Day is arguably one of the most romantic days of the year and I have a feeling many people will be giving and receiving presents such as blooming flowers, delicious candies and chocolates, and maybe something a little more intimate. The best thing about underwear and pajamas is you can wear them in the privacy of your own home (wearing your polar bear pjs to your Monday morning class is a big no-no!) which means, you can wear the silliest things without embarrassment in the face of the general public. So while you may be looking for something alluring to seduce your partner with, why don’t you get something a little on the silly side too? Wear a pair of kiss printed panties while you’re doing errands or at the gym as your little secret. Or give your sweetie a pair of candy heart boxer shorts that gives those messages on the candy hearts a whole other meaning. When Valentine’s Day is long past, you can always wear these again and again for a funny yet romantic pick-me-up. Just click the slideshow to see more!

Alex & Chloe “Holding You Forever” Wedding Rings- A Revolve Clothing Exclusive!

Weddings are deeply rooted in tradition, so much so that the white gown and coordinating taffeta bridesmaid dresses are just the buttercream icing on the classic tiered cake. But these days, more and more brides are opting for a more modern approach, and as little twists such as wedding cupcake arrangements make way for bigger ones like shorter dresses and atypical venues, it’s only a matter of time before the biggest little wedding tradition- the ring- follows suit. Edgy jewelry maker Alex & Chloe has taken the traditional wedding ring and given it an ultra-modern spin with their 14k gold “Holding You Forever” rings, available exclusively on Revolve Clothing. With inverted princess-cut diamonds, square bands, and concentric circles, you’ve truly never seen rings like these! The men’s ring is identical, minus the diamonds (and a couple dollars). The rings can be purchased as a set or individually, and are custom-made and shipped within two weeks. They’re just traditional enough to be elegant, and the style, while definitely not the usual, is indeed timeless- just the way things should be.

Step In Line and Get In Uniform With A Military Jacket!

Looking for a jacket that’s timeless yet on-trend and will get you through winter and well into spring? Look no further! Military jackets have been seen all over the runways from Gucci to Moschino, worn on celebs like Mischa Barton and Victoria Beckham, and featured on street fashion blogs from Los Angeles to Paris. Military jackets are usually characterized by bold knob buttons, a double-breasted fit, and come in neutral and classic colors like black, cream, or navy. Whether they’re mid-length or cropped, you can find something that suits your style and climate. Worried about price? I’ve found military-inspired jackets that hit every price point from $40 to over $700. The cape cadet coat from Elizabeth & James brings a dramatic military flair to any ensemble, while a wool-blend tweed jacket is suited for everyday wear. So snap into attention and get shopping! Steal Mary-Kate Olsen’s Cozy-Chic Layered Look!

It can be difficult to look chic and polished during the winter months, when the temptation to bury yourself underneath piles of chunky layers is at an all-time high. The Olsen twins are a constant source of fashion inspiration for me and at the New York screening of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, funky sis Mary-Kate once again delivered a knockout performance with a look that was super stylish and totally cold-weather practical. Mary-Kate fended off the chill wearing a black dress, black velvet coat, and a funky leopard print Louis Vuitton scarf which added a pop of color to the monochrome look. She injected the look with some of her signature edge, sporting a pair of cut out booties by Proenza Schouler and accessorizing with some statement-making rings.

Fashion Designers Prepare for Our Bleak Future

    0120bleakfashion.jpg

For a while there, it seemed as though fashion was starting to quickly solidify itself inside of bright, obnoxious colors, a la 1983. Fortunately, the economy collapsed, the happiness has been drained from nearly every industry, and now things can get back to normal. So it would seem if fashion shows are any gauge. The New York Times reports from two shows in Milan, one for Burberry and the other for Missoni, both of which seem to be trying to cultivate a look that’s a cross between cast members from Oliver! and professional pallbearers. It’s pretty gloomy. And the AP confirms this, taking in shows by houses like Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, all of which seem to have shifted to an absolute fear or color and/or joy. What does all of this mean? For starters, that things are lousy out there. But the good side is that those grey pants you wore out but never threw away will look amazing with simple cloth patches. All the better if you can learn to say “Please sir…” in a convincing British accent.

Today Marks the End of the Endless Michelle Obama Designer Watch

    1231micho.jpg

We’ve been looking forward to inauguration day for quite some time. Sure, because it’ll be such an important historical moment, but largely so we can stop hearing all the speculation on which designer Michelle Obama has chosen to wear tonight. It’s been months of interesting, yet exhausting filler, like from this piece from the San Jose Mercury about bringing style back to the White House via the First Lady (with some speculation about who Michelle will chose) or this story from the Houston Chronicle going over the history of inaugural gowns and the designers who created them (with some speculation about who Michelle will chose). And when that isn’t clicking, there have been pieces like this in the Baltimore Sun about what a difficult job the Obama’s new interior man, Michael Smith, is going to have in a new home not very conducive to standard design practices. Again, all interesting for sure, we’re just worn out and ready to move on. Though from time to time, reporters are getting some stories out there, which while still peripherally related feel like a breath of fresh air, like this one about who Obama’s poet, Elizabeth Alexander, has chosen to design her outfit for today: designer b. Michael.

Enter The “Confessions Of A Shopaholic” PASSION FOR FASHION Online Giveaway!

Sophie Kinsella’s “Shopaholic” books were a permanent fixture on my nightstand for quite some time, so to say I’m excited for the February 13th release of the Confessions Of A Shopaholic movie (starring the oh-so-adorable Isla Fisher– remember her in Wedding Crashers?) is a complete understatement! To celebrate, we’re bringing you the Confessions Of A Shopaholic- PASSION FOR FASHION Giveaway, and this is one that you definitely won’t want to miss! In case you didn’t know, the film takes fashionable heroine Rebecca Bloomwood (Fisher) out of her native London and plants her in New York City, where the only thing soaring higher than her journalism career is her shopping-induced credit card debt. And if you thought reading about that was fun, well… imagine seeing all of the designer duds and drama unfold on the big screen! Wish you could live vicariously through her compulsive spending, minus the whole debt part? Click READ MORE to see the contest and prize info, and your wish may come true!

Heavy Metal: Chain Necklaces Are Still Hot!

When it comes to jewelry, especially chains and anything with a rocker edge, I have a tendency to think more is more. Well, apparently I’m not the only one! Layered necklaces have been taken to a whole new level. Givenchy showed about a million little chain necklaces layered over a sleek pantsuit, but these necklaces don’t have to be only for your goth moments– they’re perfect for spicing up a regular white t-shirt and jeans or even a prim and proper dress. Throw out the old thinking that you have to take off a piece of jewelry before you leave the house– instead, add more! Layer on some of your own chains for a heavy metal look, or remix an old chain belt into a necklace. My absolute favorite jewelry designer, Justin Giunta for Subversive Jewelry, does chain necklaces like no one else. These messy, pre-layered necklaces are an amazing mix of chains and found objects that won’t weigh you down! Check out the slideshow for options with prices ranging from budget to bank-breaking!
