Steal Her Style: Blake Lively’s Summery Hamptons Look

imageBlake Lively is one of the most stylish starlets in Tinseltown — and she doesn’t work with a personal stylist. The outfit she recently wore to QVC’s Super Saturday charity shopping event in the Hamptons was molto bene and perfect for a breezy summer day. Blake paired a form-fitting white mini by Herve Leger with a tailored blue-and-white-striped Oxford, and the classic preppiness of the shirt balanced the raciness of the eensie-weensie skirt. She finished the look with a pair of brown patent round-toe pumps and a long chain necklace. Here’s how you can get her look for way less, courtesy of Lemondrop!

1. Elizabeth and James Schoolboy Shirt: This menswear-inspired shirt features ruched sleeves and back buttons to keep it looking fitted, not boxy. $264
2. Forever 21 Cut Off Denim Skirt: A crisp white skirt like this can be worn to a daytime BBQ or as an impromptu beach cover-up. $20
3. Matisse Pump: A thick wooden heel and shiny patent upper combine to make this pump a true eye-catcher. $42
4. Sequin Long Chain Necklace: Add some funky style to a more classic look with a fun, tiered chain necklace like this gorgeous silver version. $40

Camilla Belle Wears Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

imageAt the debut of the futuristic dystopian flick “2012,” Camilla Belle bravely donned an Alexander McQueen creation from his Spring 2010 collection, which premiered in Paris a few weeks ago. The entire Alexander McQueen collection featured a futuristic look and reptilian themed prints. Belle’s dress was a short dress with a puff-ball skirt and gem trim on the sleeves. She wisely accessorized this attention-grabber of a dress with a minimal theme in mind. A simple bangle, plain earrings, and nude platform heels ensured that accessories would not compete with the dress. It would be easy to overdo it with chains or diamonds or “look-at-me” shoes. Also in attendance at the movie premiere was American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert. The soundtrack to the movie features his song “Time for Miracles.” Critics describe the song as “perfect” for the movie in which the world faces a huge cataclysmic event and those left have to fight for survival. Written by Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser, the movie’s cast includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Thandie Newton. Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover are also included in the cast of thousands. The film premiered November 4 in Los Angeles. This week it is scheduled for release in Belgium, France, and the UK. Ginnifer Goodwin Wears A Dress Made Of Hospital Scrubs

imageIf you ever get a chance to walk around the streets of San Francisco, aside from endless views of the fog and rolling hills you’ll notice numerous buildings that make up the Academy of Art University. Since the Stylehive office is neighbors with an Academy of Art building, I’ve seen some super snappy dressers milling about the neighborhood. Based on their long history at New York Fashion Week, I know that their students will make it in the art and fashion worlds. And it already looks like a few students got a head start! Priscilla Guimarais, Kumiko Haruyama, Nui Tanapornwattana, Audrey Wang and Tramaine Tillman created a collection of sustainable dresses for a class project. “Big Love” and “He’s Just Not That Into You” actress Ginnifer Goodwin wore one such piece from the collection at 20th Anniversary Environmental Media Association Awards in Los Angeles. Made of hospital scrubs, the fabric was treated, dyed and pleated in a fabulous strapless dress. The future is bright and totally green for the lucky students and I can’t wait to see more! Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

imageLo Bosworth’s most memorable quip about fashion may be “I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They’re all trashy and tacky.” This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of “Laguna Beach,” where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up “The Hills” milieu. Now, it’s been five years… has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? “I have!” she laughed during our interview last week. “I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that’s beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn’t really do great things for me from behind, though.” Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn’t inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It’s that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love — easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? “I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more ‘evening’ with others that are more casual,” she shares. “[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels… it’s a good look: casual and just easy.” I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn’t use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who’s just been given FLING Chocolate’s first-ever “Best Fling” honor for “her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty,” be getting up to any trouble on the new season of “The Hills?” “For the next few episodes of the show, you’re going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!” Let’s see: that’s “moderating,” “drama,” and “storms” all in one description. Yep — sounds like “The Hills” is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! Photo Credit: PR Photos

J.Lo, Katy, Or Vivica: Who Rocked Basic Black Best At The “This Is It” Premiere?

imageIt’s no surprise that a documentary on the late and great Michael Jackson would draw in a crowd of A-list celebrities, all wanting to show their love and support for the King of Pop. The tragic and sudden death of the greatest entertainer of all time sent shock waves through the community and “This Is It” is one way to commemorate Jackson, as well as keep him with us for a little longer. Everybody who’s anybody, and their mom and kids, showed up dressed to impress with styles ranging from dressed up tees to floor-sweeping gowns. One common color that celebrities showed up in was chic head-to-toe black ensembles that were edgy, sexy, sleek or just plain sweet. Perhaps it was out of respect for the loss that the Jackson family and the rest of the world has recently endured, but there’s no denying that they all looked like “Pretty Young Things.” So who do you think rocked the basic black look the best? Was it Jennifer Lopez in her edgy black panel sheath and rockin’ knee boots? Or perhaps you preferred Katy Perry’s lacy, glittering gown? And there’s no question that Vivica A. Fox looked smoking in a body-hugging, one-shouldered mini. Take the poll below and let us know who you think looked best at the Michael Jackson’s “This Is It’ Premiere!

LimeLife Reports: Madonna To Model For Dolce & Gabbana

imageMadonna is certainly all over the place these days. Instead of fading away as she gets older, she just seems to be getting more and more popular for more and more things (including dating a much, much younger man). And she’s still gorgeous enough to be modeling, too! Madonna is set to be the newest model for Dolce & Gabbana! And in case you didn’t know, it’s not the first time Madonna has worked with the popular designer. They actually designed the costumes for Madonna’s 1993 Girlie Show tour. And more recently, they just designed the costumes for her Sticky and Sweet tour. Since they’ve been working together for so long, it seems only natural for Madonna to start modeling for them, especially since she recently finished her stint as the spokesmodel for Louis Vuitton. According to Dolce & Gabbana themselves, “To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true.” We believe it! Click over to our friends at LimeLife to read more!

“Gossip Girl” Gets Even More Fashionable!

imageYes, it’s possible. As if the clothes on “Gossip Girl” weren’t chic enough, now, two very well-known fashion designers are making cameos on the show’s upcoming new season. And those women are Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman. Both Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman were spotted at the “Gossip Girl” studio in Long Island, NY, filming scenes for the new season. It’s a big secret how the two fashionistas will be woven into the show’s plot, but it was revealed that some of the set was made to look like Tory Burch’s office. So, we’re thinking one of the girls is trying to get a job? Or a college internship? Chapman said, “I am a huge fan [of Gossip Girl]. I was very nervous [on-set].” We have a feeling she did a fine job. We’re getting more and more excited about the new season of “Gossip Girl” as we keep hearing about new cast members and guest celebrities. It’s gonna be a good one! Tory and Georgina’s scenes will air on the October 5th episode. Click on over to our friends at Limelife for more!

Rock a Leather Mini Like Isla Fisher

imageAt the “Rock A Little, Feed A Little” benefit concert in L.A., the adorable Isla Fisher got in touch with her sexy side, rocking this season’s leather trend in a fun and funky way. Isla paired her leather mini with a cool tie-dye tee-shirt and accessorized the look with funky peep-toe booties, a pendant necklace, and an edgy cuff. I love how Isla tempered the inherent sexiness of her leather mini with a more casual top to keep the look from being too vampy. Balance is a key concept to keep in mind when rocking anything leather. Isla also gets points for showing accessory-restraint. When you’re outfit is this cool, you really don’t need to pile on many extras.
