Anna Wintour Responds To Being Called A “Cold Bitch”

image“60 Minutes” devoted a 13-minute segment to profiling Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, this weekend. Journalist Morley Safer described Wintour as “a name that strikes terror in some, loathing in others, and transforms some into obsequious toadies.” Not that his observation is incorrect, but, geez, what a way to introduce someone. But it didn’t stop there. If the “60 Minutes” profile didn’t have you both squealing at the high-profile cameos (Karl Lagerfeld! Andre Leon Talley!) and getting just a little bit hot under your Chanel jacket collar, maybe you’re a bigger ice queen than this supposed queen of the ice queens herself. Anna Wintour has been editor-in-chief of Vogue for 21 years. She’s an A-lister’s A-lister. She dominates the gossip pages and hosts the star-studded Met Ball every year, which most celebs would kill to attend. She makes– and breaks– careers in fashion and entertainment. Yet the question that opened her TV profile? Morley Safer of “60 Minutes” asked Anna Wintour if is a bitch. Seriously. Watch the video to see it all and head on over to The Frisky to read about their thoughts on the interview.

Lydia Hearst, Mariska Hargitay, or Jessica Biel: Who Looked Best In Their Ruffles And Lace?

imageAs the weather gets warmer and the carefree days of summer are almost here, it’s no surprise that the stars have been lightening up their looks as well. Don’t get me wrong- I love seeing the beyond edgy frocks that some are known to sport, but sometimes there’s nothing more appropriate than lace and ruffles. Of course, past the age of six they’re not quite so easy to wear- let’s see if these celebs hit the right style notes. Mariska Hargitay donned an off-the-shoulder gown with cascading ruffles at the 2009 White House Correspondent Dinner, Jessica Biel was poised in an asymmetrical dress and soft waves at a screening of “Easy Virtue,” and Lydia Hearst looked ready for tea in a vintage-looking lace dress with rosette appliques at Modern Bride’s “25 Trendsetters of 2009” Awards Dinner. Rock a Little Red Dress Like Sienna Miller

imageAt the New York premiere of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, fashion trend-setter extraordinaire Sienna Miller showcased a sleek, sophisticated style that was still undeniably sexy. Sienna looked absolutely radiant in a ravishing red dress by Marios Schwab which looked especially sizzling with her matching red pout. She completed her look with Roger Vivier black pumps and opaque tights, leaving the accessories at home and letting this standout dress do all the talking. The LRD (little red dress) is a fabulous alternative to the classic LBD, especially for a night when you wanna get in touch with your inner sexy siren. The key to rocking this style is to keep it minimal, like Sienna, and balance out the inherent sex appeal of the look with more pared down accessories. Photo credit: PR Photos

Influential International Style: Emma Watson

imageKnowing full-well that she could take advantage of an Invisibility Cloak at any given moment, Emma Watson’s status as a rising international style icon is even more impressive. The Harry Potter star is all grown up, and as the new face of the House of Chanel, is rumored to also be replacing Keira Knightley as the face of Burberry. How does a wizard rise to a style queen seemingly overnight? By choosing classic shapes, flattering neutrals, and always looking age appropriate. Whether it’s a risk of length or a gorgeous backless gown, there is always a little something extra to Emma Watson’s red carpet looks. Also catapulting her into success? Refusing to follow makeup trends and instead choosing flattering shimmers, and backing it all up with a classic updo or soft waves for a hairstyle. Hippie Headbands: Boho Chic, Or A Recipe For A Bad Hair Day?

imageI’m all about headbands. They save us from bad hair days and add a bit of preppy flair when needed. Yet there is one headband trend that has some people as divided as Red Sox and Yankees fans. That trend is the horizontal hippie headband look. We saw this trend starting last spring, and it still seems to be going strong. Repeat offenders include Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Richie, Whitney Port and Mischa Barton. Barton has even struck up a partnership with headband designer Stacey Lapidus, making, you guessed it… bejeweled hippie headbands. They have the unfortunate effect of making your hair look like a mushroom cap and make even the coolest hipster look they are trying too hard. Clearly, I’m not a fan, but what do you think of the hair-raising trend?

Rock an Edgy-Femme Look Like Vanessa Hudgens

imageAt the LG “Rumorous Night” Launch Party, rising trend-setter Vanessa Hudgens showcased her spin on the edgy/femme trend which dominated the runways for spring. Vanessa wore a summery seafoam dress by Gold Hawk and injected a mega dose of edgy-glam to the look by accessorizing with black strappy sandals, Sara Weinstock bangles, layered necklaces, and a totally statement-making multi-colored bag. The dress itself is a fabulous investment for spring and summer and can be worn with dainty sandals for day or killer pumps for a night out. You can wear it alone, or team the look with a bunch of standout accessories like Vanessa to showcase your own personal style. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get the full look! Photo credit: PR Photos

Who Will Take The Cycle 12 Crown And Become America’s Next Top Model?

imageAs tomorrow’s anticipated finale officially rounds out a whopping dozen cycles of “America’s Next Top Model,” I can’t help but be slightly excited that at least one of my preseason predictions for the Top 3 actually made it into the Top 3! As surprised as I am that Allison and Aminat have made it this far despite barely skating by at panel for several weeks, and as sad as I am that Fo isn’t going to be among them vying for one of the two coveted spots in the finale fashion runway, I’m still eager to watch the outcome of this season full of surprises. We’ve watched them fight, we’ve watched Tyra make them cry, we’ve watched them get lost in the slums of Brazil and inevitably be disqualified from the go-see challenge, and we’ve watched Ms. J’s ever-growing bow-tie consume his face. And looking back on it all, all I can conclusively say is that maybe I’m not so great at first-impression predictions as I thought. So I’m gonna let everyone else put in their two cents — vote below on who you think will be this season’s Top Model (or just who you’re rooting for), then make sure to check out the finale at 8pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and see if you’re right! Your guess is as good as mine, if not better! Photo Credit: CWtv.com

Video Style Steal: Kelly Clarkson Buttons Up, Then Lets Loose In “I Do Not Hook Up”

imageIf it wasn’t clear enough in the previous Kelly Clarkson style steal, I’m totally loving the songstress’s comeback as she rides it out, and I fully intend to soak up her rocker-chick presence in the spotlight until she goes back into hibernation and deprives me of catchy breakup therapy tunes for another long while. In the video for her first single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” Kelly showed us her softer side with a casual-cool take on her usual edgy style, and now with her second single, “I Do Not Hook Up,” Kelly tackles rumors head on and proves that she doesn’t need a boy on her arm to complete her outfit! One thing I’ve always loved about her videos is the way she tells a story through the scenes, and then never fails to break out with a belting chorus in a kick-ass outfit, rocking out with her band behind her. Makes me wish I had my own music-playing entourage to whip my hair in front of! While I’ll never be Kelly Clarkson (aside from our matching and nose studs and curvy rear ends), I can at least covet the clothes she dons in the video as she causes a ruckus at an uppity lunch party, then lets loose onstage while out on the town. With a sexy fitted halter dress and studded shoes made to walk all over those misbehaving boys, it’s way easier to channel Kelly’s looks than it is to sing along to the video on-key! Click SEE VIDEO to watch it for yourself, then check out the slideshow to find out how you can cop her clothing!

Which Celeb Rocked The Quirkiest Costume At The Met Ball?

imageForget the Oscars — The Met Costume Ball is the event when it comes to celebs and fashion, more specifically when it comes to gossiping about celebs and their rather “interesting” taste in fashion. New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was mobbed with famous faces, representing young and old Hollywood alike in both the variety of attendees themselves and with the style of their ensembles, ranging from exquisitely glamorous and timeless to innovative and uniquely modern. Given that the theme of this year’s spring gala was “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion,” I couldn’t help but be slightly concerned on behalf of a few celebs who seemed to have inspired some rather unsavory sheaths. For example, if I were Heidi Klum (in some glorious alternate universe), I just might be slightly alarmed and/or insulted if my serving as a muse resulted in a black and blue octopus-looking number reminiscent of Ursula from the The Little Mermaid. I realize she’s trying to hide a baby bump, and bless her, but… really? Furthermore, Gossip Girls Leighton Meester and Blake Lively seemed to be in a contest for most unflattering frock, Molly Sims dressed up as some kind of misshapen cowbell, and Rihanna channeled a sort of couture Michael Jackson. It’s sad that the more chic costumes had to be upstaged by the wardrobe disasters, but the Met Ball just wouldn’t be the same without the fashion missteps! Vote below on which costume you think was the craziest. Photo Credit: PR Photos
