Get Your Hands On Jessica Alba’s Feathered Headband!

imageJessica Alba knows a thing or two about being glamorous on the red carpet. But this past year she has been discovering a whole new type of style — “mommy chic.” One thing that all new moms learn pretty quickly is that having hair in your face while trying to run after your kids is no fun. Jessica is a huge fan of headbands, yet her picks are anything but basic and ordinary. Everything from feathers to ribbons have adorned her pulled-back hairline. Running errands around Los Angeles with her adorable daughter Honor, she sported a cute Stella Accessories feathered headband that added just a touch of whimsy to her jeans-and-tank style. To get the look, mom or not, you can get the Madison headband by Stella Accessories which retails for $42.

How Do You Prefer Brad: White-Hot Or Dark & Handsome?

imageThis past week has been a big one for Brad Pitt (then again, when isn’t it a good week to be Brad Pitt?) with the recent Hollywood premiere of his latest film, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. Decked out in head-to-toe black, save for a pair of gold-rimmed aviators and some goatee scruff, he looked sharp as always and accessorized flawlessly with leather-clad Angelina Jolie on his arm for nearly the entire night. Despite all the excitement, he wasn’t too busy to lend support to pals Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams at the NYC premiere of The Time Traveler’s Wife just two days later — only this time dressed in head-to-toe white… with a similar pair of aviators and the same scruffy facial hair. Uh, Brad? What’s with the monochromatic menswear? While we understand the desire to match and coordinate, that doesn’t mean you need to wear all the same color… especially when these suit shades can hardly even be considered “colors!” I guess there’s no use complaining — the man still looks good, no matter how much variation he seems to lack. Personally, I enjoy him most in his wide-open bathrobe in Fight Club, but since that’s not an option, vote below on which one-color ensemble you like best: Brad in white or Brad in black? Video Style Steal: Pink Goes Moto-Girlie In “Funhouse”

imageWhile Pink herself is right in the middle of her worldwide tour for her fifth studio album, Funhouse, her singles and in-your-face videos haven’t taken a break from their chart-topping around the rest of the globe. Her latest vid for the album’s title track is characteristically “Pink” in its rebellious tomboy vibes (after all, I don’t know many girlie-girls who would dare frolic through a burning junkyard, much less while dressed head-to-toe in white), yet her wardrobe is surprisingly flirty at the same time. Then again, who else would you expect to find the perfect balance between feminine lace and badass biker chick? I may never understand her love-hate relationship with husband Corey Hart, and I’ll be less likely to ever have the guts to be as bold as she is, but I can at least take a page or two from her book of style! With white distressed jeans and black belted boots, you can cop her outfit pretty easily — I just don’t recommend committing arson while you’re wearing it. March On With Our Top 5 Favorite Marching Band Jackets!

imageWhat do Jimi Hendrix, Christophe Decarnin of Balmain and Sienna Miller all have in common? They all love marching band style jackets! Beyonce and Rihanna have been spotted in the amazing (and very pricey) Balmain version and Sienna looked retro-cool in her Temperley London version. Finding an authentic vintage band jacket is hard to do, and sometimes the fit is less than flattering. Good thing designers have been turning out more modern and contemporary versions! Go subtle with some slight button or double-breasted detail, or go all out with some major gold trim and adornments. If you want to be truly authentic, check out Nasty Gal for a few great vintage styles. Check out the slideshow for our 5 favorite jackets that will keep you marching all fall long! Belt It Like Mrs. Obama

imageI went shopping for a bit on Saturday and spotted at least 3 stylish young ladies sporting large belts over cardigans or jackets as spotted on our stylish First Lady Michelle Obama. In fact, this fall, the big belt is in thanks to Mrs. O! As featured in Vogue UK, Michelle Obama is a fan of oversized belts over sweaters, and with its flattering waist-cinching look, it’s no wonder why it’s been quick to catch on. One of my favorites for this fall is this two-in-one Anthropologie Puckered & Pleated Cardigan with built in wide belt ($128) which I can definitely see on our First Lady. It’s available in gray, black, or bright gold. How cute is it with the soft pink ruffled shirt pictured on the model?

Guitar Strings For A Good Cause

imageDo you love interesting jewelry? How about jewelry that supports a good cause? Now how about interesting jewelry that supports a good cause and is made from something that musicians like Ani DiFranco, Benji Madden, Carlos Santana or John Mayer have used? Wear Your Music creates unique bracelets from old guitar strings that would normally just get tossed. Musicians donate their used guitar strings to Wear Your Music, who then create bracelets from them and sells them, giving the proceeds to the charity of the musician’s choice. It’s a win-win situation for everyone: you get a cool bracelet with bragging rights that your favorite musician actually touched it, the landfills are a little less full, and charities benefit from the proceeds! Check out the impressive list of celebrity donors at the Wear Your Music site, and don’t forget to click over to Splendicity for the latest style updates!

Forever Young: John Hughes Film Fashion

imageJohn Hughes can pretty much be credited for the creation of the archetypal American high school, and his classic films popularized the style and feel of teens in the ’80s. What he brought to the screen didn’t just influence trends at the time– it continues to trickle into fashion movements. Here, a look at the quintessential looks from Hughes’ movies, some of which are totally relevant today thanks to the ’80s being back in a big way.

The bucket hat and blazer: In 1986’s “Pretty In Pink,” Molly Ringwald plays heroine Andie. She isn’t the most popular girl in school, but she loves fashion and shows off her creative personal style. With a nod to “Annie Hall,” Ringwald modeled the menswear-inspired look, but added a feminine edge with floral scarves, which eventually gave way to the “Blossom” craze.

Miley, Britney, & The “Twilight” Gang Sink Their Teeth Into The Teen Choice Awards

imageForget “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” “Dating in the Dark” or any of the other “quality” television programming you have scheduled on your TiVo for tonight — the 2009 Teen Choice Awards on Fox is where it’s at. If you’re still a teen at heart (or are literally still a teen) and are dying to see the “Twilight” gang take home another dozen awards for their angst-ridden bloodsucking antics or witness Megan Fox nab a couple decorative surfboards basically just for looking hot, the event is a must-see. Despite the actual award-winnings and acceptance speeches, the Teen Choice Awards (which took place last night but air this evening at 8) are still worth a gander if you’re looking for a break from your mindless channel-surfing, since the red carpet boasted an impressive parade of celebrities — those in their teen years and beyond. Aside from the fact that so many stars were actually in attendance, what was even more impressive was just how skimpy some of the red carpet ensembles were (ahem Miley Cyrus). Check out the slideshow for some of the red carpet highlights before the event even airs!

Miley Cyrus to Auction Off Wardrobe

imageNo matter what your age, it’s hard to deny that Miley Cyrus is a good dresser. We only wish we could dress as well as she does and we’re way older than her 16 years. But now is your chance to score the clothes in her closet. Yes, her actual clothes. Miley is auctioning them off! We can’t even imagine how many clothes Miley owns. Things she’s probably only worn once and then put them away. You could go to Walmart and get some super cheap items from Miley and Max Azria’s new clothing line. Or you could participate in the auction for Miley’s actual clothes. And one item up for auction is the chance for you and your friends to go on the road with Miley! Miley is partnering with Ebay to put her clothes up for auction and she’s not even keeping the proceeds. All the money made will go to the Pappy Cyrus Foundation, the Cyrus family’s personal charity that helps children in need. So, whether you just want to score one of Miley’s outfits or you want to bid on the chance for a meet-and-greet with her, head over to the auction and start bidding! It starts today and will run until August 13. Want to do more than just dress like Miley Cyrus? Want to wear her actual clothes? Click on over to our friends at Limelife!

Rihanna Plays Peekaboo With Her Lingerie, & You Can Too With A Bralette!

imageEver since I graduated from the realm of training bras long ago, I’ve had a love for fun lingerie… despite the fact that my decolletage sort of demands undergarments that are more functional than flirty and flimsy. And with the rise of peekaboo lingerie, namely bralettes, I can’t help but lust after the lacy trims that have been peeking out from under low-neckline sweaters, boyfriend blazers, and oversized tanks — another trend Rihanna rocks admirably! While they are meant to serve as lower-maintenance lingerie for the more modestly endowed gals, bralettes are primarily for show with their bright colors, bold patterns, and scalloped edges. Make sure you don’t go overboard with the whole idea of show-and-tell skivvies, though; the idea is to leave plenty to the imagination and give onlookers just a glimpse! Luckily for me and all you other ladies who need a little extra “shelving,” although bralettes don’t offer much support (in fact, it would pretty much defeat their purpose), they can be layered to still achieve the peekaboo look without necessarily having to go commando. Check out the slideshow for some of my favorite little bralettes!
