Video Style Steal: Leighton Meester Shows Us How “Good Girls Go Bad” In Style

imageGossip Girl Leighton Meester is used to being a fashion icon by now. While it may have been a bit unexpected to find her break into singing with her featured spot in Cobra Starship’s single “Good Girls Go Bad,” it certainly came as no surprise to see that she added some seriously fashionable fierceness to the video. And while the covetable wardrobe she dons as she sneaks into the deli-turned-“speakeasy” setting may not be the only reason the video is nominated for a VMA for Best Pop Video, it definitely helps amp it up, no doubt! And the best thing about her style? It’s easy to make it your own without breaking the bank! With a hot cropped blazer and dramatic smoky eyes, you won’t be nearly as incognito as Leighton is in the video, but you’ll definitely have a stylish night out! Give A Black Jumper A Fashion-Forward Twist Like MIchelle Trachtenberg

imageAt the GUESS Flagship Boutique opening in New York City, actress Michelle Trachtenberg was totally on-trend and cutting-edge. Michelle updated a basic black cowl neck jumpsuit by adding a pop of color with an oversized hot pink Giuseppe Zanotti clutch and matching hot pink nails. She wasn’t afraid to push it a bit further by adding more electricity to the look with some standout jewelry pieces including a sparkly cocktail ring, statement bracelet, and black hoop earrings. To add some length to her legs, she opted for simple black peep-toe pumps. A black jumpsuit is a super versatile, easy-to-wear item that can be dressed up or toned down to suit any occasion. Glam it up like Michelle with eye-catching accessories, or tone it down by pairing it with sandals and a few muted pieces. Check out my slideshow to replicate this look!

Influential International Style: Diane Kruger

imageDiane Kruger knows what’s up. As the female lead in Inglorious Basterds, as well as the less recent classics like Troy and Wicker Park, she never fails to sparkle in a performance. Although she won the Cannes Chopard Trophy in 2003, I have to say that her performance at Cannes this year really put her in the stratosphere. Her style is impeccable. She takes risks in interesting sleeves, cutaways, crazy patterns and haute couture texture. She tends to stick with basic black, but chooses outrageous texture and true haute couture. It’s no wonder she’s Karl Lagerfeld’s little darling! One of the reasons she’s looked so good lately? Karl himself has used her as a muse since she appeared in Chanel handbag ads in 2007. Check out my slideshow for ways to achieve Diane Kruger’s wunderbar style! Photo credit: PR Photos

The Frisky Asks: How Much Do We Love This i-D Cover?

imageA few months ago both Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez tweeted about a “major” moment in fashion and a surprise cover. That should have been clue enough for some folks to guess. Now the secret is out: the two young models, along with Jourdan Dunn and Arlenis Sosa, grace the cover of i.D magazine’s September issue. The iconic photo features all four girls with corset-inspired tops, figure-hugging skirts, matching black gloves and shimmery makeup. It was shot in London by Emma Summerton and styled by i-D fashion director Edward Enninful. Besides featuring four of the hottest models of the moment in one sitting, this issue is distinctive for yet another reason: It is the only non-urban magazine to opt for women of color on its September cover. Leighton Meester Wears Gold And Diamond Bat Necklace By Brazilian Designer Jack Vartanian

imageThis wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done a “Leighton Meester Wears..” post here on Stylehive, and so it’s safe to say she’s staying stylish enough for herself and alter ego Blair between seasons (speaking of which, is it September 14th yet?). The actress was spotted strolling in NYC wearing the “Bat Necklace” from Brazilian designer Jack Vartanian. Crafted from 18k rose gold and complete with tiny diamond eyes, it’s stunning and a bit spooky all at once. You can find the necklace along with the entire Jack Vartanian STUD collection at Barneys New York. In case you’re wondering, Leighton’s also wearing Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony wedge boots and Nina Ricci’s “Ondine” handbag. Tell us what you think of her look in comments!

Wearable Neon Makeup Shades, No Rave Required

imageWhile we’ve thankfully moved past that ’90s flashback of fluorescent clothing and accessories, it’s important to note that neons haven’t been banished from the planet for good — they’ve just relocated to the beauty department! I know, the idea sounds terrifying, but used with the right shades and a subtle hand, bright pops of color are an emerging makeup trend that’s making feminine features stand out in a feisty, fresh and modern way. While trying to shed her goody-goody Gossip Girl stereotype and make a name for herself as her punk band’s frontwoman, Taylor Momsen has been spotted flaunting neon lips and smoky eyes — but you don’t have to be a rock goddess in training to pull it off. Sticking to one feature at a time, you can go with an electric blue eyeliner to make your peepers pop, or highlight your summer tan with contrasting tangerine nails, for example. Take a look at the slideshow for some wearable neon shades!

Which Designer Demonstrated The Best Personal Style At “The September Issue” Premiere?

imageThis past Wednesday night, New York’s Museum of Modern Art was abuzz with some of the world’s most chic elite as they mingled at the NYC premiere of The September Issue. The film, which hits theaters on Friday, documents the inner workings of Anna Wintour and her Vogue team as they slave over the release of the hugely-anticipated annual Fall issue of the fashion bible. To celebrate the movie’s release, style icons of Hollywood and the design industry alike graced the red carpet, and although it’s normally their clothing that fights for the attention of the cameras, the designers themselves embraced the limelight in person to honor the occasion. Among some of the fashion favorites in attendance were Carolina Herrera (hand-in-hand with Oscar de la Renta), the always-polished Vera Wang, and Zac Posen, who didn’t hesitate to throw a few “top model” poses in the paparazzi direction. Vote below on which designer you think most stylishly held up the fort for the fashion industry! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Get The Look: Megan Fox’s “Teen Choice Hottie” Hairstyle

imageLast week, actress Megan Fox won the award for “Female Hottie” alongside Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California. Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai created a young tousled, soft and sexy look for Megan, perfect for strutting the red carpet and accepting her life-size surfboard onstage. Below she shares how to create the look yourself!

The Look: Tousled, soft and sexy

How to Get the Look: In order to achieve Megan Fox’s soft and sexy summer look Renato started out by using FEKKAI COIFF Strong Hold Volume Mousse on damp hair to create sexy texture that holds. He then air-dried her hair his fingers and used a one-inch curling iron to make long soft waves and give the hair a modern and fresh feeling. He then spritzed the hair with FEKKAI GLOSSING Sheer Shine Mist to add shine and finished with FEKKAI Sheer Hold Hair Spray to maintain the look all show long.
