Get Emma Roberts’ Casual, Sophisticated Look

imageAt the New York premiere of Inglorious Basterds, the always on-point Emma Roberts kept is casual-chic with a bit of a fashion-forward flair. Emma kept her look youthful with a pair of skinny jeans paired with a heather gray ruffled top. She dressed up the look with a sharp blazer, black patent pumps, and a simple cocktail ring. While some more accessories would have made this look a bit more fashion-forward, keeping it clean and simple created a more sophisticated and polished effect. A look like this one is definitely sharp enough to work for day and sexy enough to work for night. Keep it simple like Emma or kick it up a notch with an edgy pair of pumps and some standout accessories. Check out my slideshow to get the look!

Halle Berry And Mary-Kate Olsen Love Genetic Denim!

imageThe color of your hair and eyes, or whether you have long legs or not all comes down to your genes. So while there’s little we can do to change physical appearance short of drastic plastic surgery, we use clothing to highlight our best features (and to hide the not so good ones). That’s where Genetic Denim comes in. Unlike some companies that create cookie cutter styles that may not look good on everyone, Genetic Denim has a different perspective. They want to accentuate your body type rather than squishing your body into the same mold. Some of my favorite celebrities have been seen out and about in Genetic Denim! Halle Berry paired a shredded tee with The Shane, a cigarette cut jean while out with her daughter. Mena Suvari was seen at Fashion Week wearing The Davis which is a sexy update of the classic boyfriend silhouette. Other stylish celeb fans include Mary-Kate Olsen, Agyness Deyn, and Jennifer Garner. Found in-stores and online, it’s easy to get your own pair. Just be ready to smile for the camera when you slip these on!

Go Bold In Electric Blue Like Jessica Stroup

imageAt the Melrose Place launch party in L.A., 90210 star Jessica Stroup was definitely one of the night’s standouts. Jessica wore a gorgeous electric blue cowl-neck minidress from Jenni Kayne topped off with an embellished black belt. Given the high-octane color of the dress, Jessica refrained from adding more color to the mix, opting for a sleek black Sergio Rossi clutch and a killer pair of cutout pumps. Keeping it simple with regards to accessories, she cut it off at one gorgeous cocktail ring from Siera. A slightly slouchy minidress like this one is extremely versatile- wear it as a tunic and layer it over leggings or skinny jeans for a daytime look, or pair with opaque tights, pumps, and a sharp blazer for a sophisticated day-to-night style. You really can’t go wrong with this color either and it’s one of the few bright shades that flatters just about any complexion. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get this standout style!

Which Emmy Awards Actress Did The Matte Makeup Look Best?

imageWhen the phrase “award show” is mentioned, things that usually come to mind in the realm of beauty are “dramatic,” “high-impact” and “come-hither.” You think plump red lips, rosy cheeks, heavy eyeliner, fluttering lashes… Okay, maybe I’m thinking Old Hollywood, but still, the stereotype is often still expected on big-night red carpet events like the Emmys. However, a celeb photo hound like myself couldn’t help but notice the prevalence of neutral matte lips at last Sunday’s fete, from drama queen January Jones‘ semi-sheer coral hue to funny gal Alyson Hannigan’s peachy nude. Who knew that understated barely-there shades would be the key to shaking things up on TV’s biggest night? Whether these downplayed lip shades served to help balance other features like Mila Kunis’ smoky eyes, or simply matched an overall style like Kim Kardashian’s sexy ice princess look, these TV sirens proved you don’t need bold color or high shine to be a winner in our beauty book! Vote below on who you think looked best in her matte lipcolor. Photo Credit: PR Photos

Video Style Steal: Taylor Swift Goes From Geek To Chic In “You Belong With Me”

imageAlthough her big VMA moment may have been stolen from her, I’m more than ready to give Taylor Swift her much-deserved video props! After all, it takes some serious talent to make a role as the ultimate bookworm as heartwarmingly adorable as she does. In her award-winning video “You Belong With Me,” Taylor goes geeky and shows that you don’t need to be cheer captain to win over the quarterback — just be your adorable girl-next-door self! She’s so endearing, in fact, that I’m ready to break out my inner nerd in hope of finding my own Prince Charming! Cady in “Mean Girls” learned the hard way that disguising your smart side is no way to make a guy swoon, so take after Taylor and embrace your closet geek in a modest button-up blouse or marching band jacket… then go glam in a gorgeous night-out dress that’ll wow them when they least expect it! Click “See Video” to watch Taylor’s cutest video to date, then scroll through the slideshow for some looks that’ll take you from your desk to the dance floor! Photo Credit: MTV.com

imageFunny gal Amy Poehler looked beautiful at this year’s Emmy Awards wearing a black strapless Reem Acra gown. TRESemme Celebrity Stylist Mara Rozsak kept the attention on Amy’s neckline by creating a chic low chignon. This hairstyle will never be outdated and keeping it low and a little loose adds that element of fuss-free glam. The best part is this look only cost $15!

Get the look:
1) Apply TRESemme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse, $5.49, to damp hair, create a deep side part, and blow dry with a round brush.

4) Finish with TRESemme TRES Two Hair Spray, $4.35 to hold the look.

Wardrobe Dos And Don’ts With Celeb Stylist Phillip Bloch

imageCelebrity stylist Phillip Bloch has no wish to see you in head-to-toe neon. “Please do not wear pop colors as an entire outfit, I beg of you!” he warns, the command made less severe by the winking cheekiness in his tone. “A hot pink gown could be a hot pink mess!” It’s his patented way of giving fashion direction with honesty and a dose of sassy sugar that has made Bloch one of the premiere celebrity stylists in Hollywood with a client roster that reads like a Hollywood honor roll. Halle Berry? Check. Jennifer Lopez? Here! Drew Barrymore? Present. And the A-list goes on and on. In my recent interview with Bloch over New York Fashion Week, we also talked about the fashion “dos” every woman wants to have in her closet. His favorites? “I love the big, comfy boyfriend jacket but then it’s all about the silhouette–you want something slim and sexy underneath. You do not want to be in something baggy under there.” What else? “I think the little bump shoulder is great, definitely the statement necklace, and I much like a high boot. I’m not the biggest fan of the little shoe-boot, especially when you wear it with a skirt and you see that big gap in-between [the ankle and the top of the shoe]–it cuts the leg!”

Phillip also shared with me the best designers we’re not wearing: “I’m a big fan of Zac Posen. He gets the hype but not everyone gets to wear him. Also Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Erin Fetherston, Thakoon, Rodarte–and if you can’t buy their clothes, look at what they’re doing and get inspired by them!” Phillip also gave me the skinny on the concept of “fat-free dressing” using Flexees, Maidenform’s affordable shapewear brand (which Phillip dished is what Lady Gaga wears when she performs). “They’ve made a lot of the pieces so you can actually wear them as outerwear, too, and they come in great fashion colors.” And Hivers, if Phillip’s left you wanting more personal styling advice, look no further: enter to win a Red Carpet Makeover by Phillip from Flexees and Star Magazine. Check out more on Phillip at his site and remember to stay away from monochromatic neon (you’ve been warned).

Stylehive’s Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet Report!

imageDespite various teleprompter mishaps, the overuse of the Kanye interruption joke, and the Sarah McLachlan-induced sob fest, the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards still managed to be hotter than hot (both literally and figuratively — apparently the weather was beyond sweaty)! While 30 Rock and Madmen took home the night’s biggest prizes (surprise, surprise), everyone was a winner on the red carpet (well, nearly everyone). Blake Lively looked like her typical glamazon self in a gorgeous red gown with a seriously plunging neckline and Kim Kardashian’s dress was so skintight, she reportedly had to be sewn into it (it was worth it)! Even primetime’s funny gals like Alyson Hannigan and Jenna Fischer glammed it up Cinderella-style in dazzling strapless floor-length numbers. Kim Kardashian’s A Beauty Editor For OK!

imageKim Kardashian’s playing a smart game! The reality show star and gossip circuit regular has signed up with OK! Magazine to talk all things beauty. After finally taking the plunge in the world of brunette-to-blond and back again (and applying what must be gobs of lipgloss and mascara before every event), Kim’s definitely qualified. Now she might be able to keep herself in-the-know about nasty rumors that come up about her, and she will be able to avoid any particularly egregious lies being spread by certain magazines. We love Kim’s look, and if there’s one thing she’s got down pat, it’s got to be makeup! We’ll be reading her tips and critiquing on the regular, but we have no doubt that she’s succeed.
