Video Style Steal: Recreate Rocker-Chic Like The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb”

imageWhile they certainly faced some skeptics, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s portrayals of their rocker-chick legend counterparts Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in “The Runaways” has received positive feedback. Luckily though, the young starlets didn’t have to rely on just their acting chops and musical imitation skills (though they did a commendable job at faking it) — part of their rockstar performances were made easier by a seriously bad-ass wardrobe that turned the young into believable 70’s bad-girl icons! While nowadays you probably couldn’t get away with wearing Dakota Fanning’s barely-there lingerie number (especially not at her young age!), it’s easy to update the duo’s edgy performance style to suit today’s fashion standards. Watch the video to see Dakota and Kristen’s take on The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb,” then check the slideshow to see how you can channel both a modern-day Joan Jett and Cherie Currie with rebel queen-inspired pieces! South Africa’s Molori Safari Lodge Is Your Dream Getaway (Literally!)

imageIn the South African language of Tswana, Molori means “to dream”. Just a visit to the Molori Safari Lodge’s Web site will whisk you away to dreamland. One on one with nature’s most majestic of savanna wildlife, the resort is an intimate, 5-suite retreat that only houses a maximum of 10-12 people within its exquisite construction, consisting most notably of a rustic-African design that also models international style you might find at a budgetless Pier 1 Imports. The two-year old resort-sponsored “game drives” make it perfect for close-encounters of the jungle-cat kind. Each regally-decked suite’s telescope (not to mention the resort’s on-site planetarium) make it perfect for uncovering your inner-Galileo. The collapsible glass wall of the suites invite your vacation to the outdoors and, quite perfectly, your personal infinity pool indoors. This place is so perfect, A-listers like Nicholas Cage, Mischa Barton, Lily Allen, Kate Moss and Fran Cutler have been among the baller-guests who shell out over $4,000 a night to stay in this dream-like paradise. Money is of no object in dreams, and South African designer Stephen Falcke spared no expense in creating the five traditionally and internationally decorated, openly constructed abodes. As if being surrounded by the rugged reserve terrain weren’t enough of an indulgence, guests enjoy some signature pieces like a Fendi daybed and a Phillip Plein swingbed in their room, and even first-class arrival options as the resort has its own airstrip and helipad. All the more, your tongue is treated to a retreat all its own with fine-dining crafted per your personal requests. On an intimacy scale, there’s something to be said about a place where you feel more camaraderie from the beasts of the safari than you do other hotel inhabitants. Molori Safari Lodge is more than a triple threat in the middle of South Africa’s brush. This main attraction brings danger and adventure alongside sexy extravagance in a way that makes even the Web browser not want to wake up from the dream!

Which Star Was Most Chic In Her Minidress At The Kids’ Choice Awards?

imageThe Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which take place every spring at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion (Go Bruins!), have always traditionally been a more casual-cute affair. You know — nice jeans, fun heels, maybe a funky jacket and some chunky jewelry to emphasize that you’re actually attending a televised event, not just a trip to the movies. After all, who wants to get slimed in a hot-off-the-runway outfit? In the past couple years, however, I couldn’t help but notice that today’s generation of rising starlets have been pulling out all the stops on the orange carpet. Designer pumps, low-cut dresses, diamond jewelry, you name it! While some teeter on the edge of age-appropriateness and others just seem to forget that it is a more casual daytime affair, they still certainly look fashionable beyond their years! Selena Gomez managed to maintain her cuteness in a Grecian-inspired yellow dress, sandals, and a messy braid, while ex-BFF Demi Lovato was her usual rocker-chic self in all black. As for the ladies who are actually of age, Nikki Reed’s tiered floral dress was springtime perfect, and Rihanna’s long-sleeved mini was surprisingly wearable compared to her usual bold choices! Vote below for who you think looked best in her minidress! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Jennifer, Vanessa, Nicky, Or Dakota: Who Shined Brightest In Her Spring Sequins?

imageIt’s no news that sequins have hit their height in the past style season, fully bedazzling everything from cardigans and blazers to shorts and leggings. But while cool-toned metallics and the whole “just-swam-in-a-pool-of-glitter” look are more reminiscent of last fall and winter, I can’t help but notice that some of our favorite red carpet fashionistas have been very recently spotted still rockin’ last season’s bling instead of springing forward to something more season-friendly and of-the-moment. Don’t get me wrong — I’m the biggest fan of anything sparkly and shiny (all day, every day), so I’ll be the first to celebrate with head-to-toe sequins if the truth is they really are here to stay through the sunnier months ahead! Jennifer Love Hewitt and Vanessa Hudgens both glowed in gold-tinged sparkle, while Nicky Hilton put a more glamorous spin on a shirtdress with her silver version. And Dakota Fanning’s babydoll silhouette may have been predictable, but the sequins definitely gave her dress a more grown-up edge! Vote below on which star is most fashionably glitzy in her spring sequins! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Which “Sex & The City” Star Stole The Show At ShoWest?

imageI know I’m not the only one excited for Sex & The City 2 — if not simply out of curiosity for what the ladies will do next, then at least to see what they’ll be wearing! Three out of four members of our favorite gal-pal quartet brought Sex from the Big Apple all the way to Vegas to promote the film’s upcoming release at ShoWest. While Kim Cattrall was MIA from the event (“Samantha” was busy filming in London for another project), the other three ladies made up for their missing friend with extra red carpet “wow” appeal. Kristin Davis’ Oscar de la Renta dress looked like something her character Charlotte would covet — the floral print and ruffled skirt were sweet while the lacy neckline added a little unexpected raciness. Sarah Jessica Parker showed off her toned gams and tanned skin in a lime green one-shoulder Lanvin dress, while Cynthia Nixon left her “Miranda” alter-ego at home and looked anything but uptight in a knee-length printed dress and Louboutin pumps. But only one can be best dressed! Vote below for your favorite look! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Make Up Forever Shows You How To Rock Joan Jett

imageAt first glance you might not think of Joan Jett as a beauty icon. But the more you think about it, someone had to start what has now become a classic rock and roll look. As the godmother of punk, her look is now being thrown on the big screen with the new biopic The Runaways. Kristen Stewart dyed her hair and chopped it into the perfect rock shaggy bob, but most importantly, she mastered the perfectly smuged smokey eye. Now you can too with the help from the flicks head make-up artist Robin Matthews and MAKE UP FOREVER cosmetics. Check out www.makeupoforeverusa/runaways to see videos of how to get Joan Jett€™s and her sidekick€™s Cherie Currie€™s ( Dakota Fanning) look. And that€™s not it, you can also enter to win a trip to New York for the March 17th movie premiere that includes all the rock star treatment.

Get Coco Rocha’s Sleek Futuristic Look

imageAfter Coco Rocha stepped out at the Grammy’s wearing a piece from her upcoming fashion line, I’ve come to expect her to always wearing her own designs. Yet, when she guest judged the 3rd annual Supima Design competition she didn’t wear her own line – instead she rocked a futuristic look by one of the nominated designers Victor De Souza. She joined the league of uber fashionable ladies, like Daphne Guinness to wear the designers fashion forward looks. While it might be hard to wear the exact look everyday (how does one sit in a patent leather belt/skirt anyways), when paired down it€™s a great sleek mid-season look. Start with a fitted black blazer that has a strong shoulder, Vivienne Westwood€™s Bold Shoulder Jacket has a similar feel, or for something more casual try Superfine’s fitted black denim jacket. Pair that with some basic black leggings like Coco did or add a space age touch with some leather inset leggings. While you could wear some nice flat or heeled boots like Coco did, I suggest taking the look up a bit with some peep-toe black booties. To keep with the minimalist feel of the look, accessorize with a simple cocktail ring worn on the thumb. Check out the slideshow for how to replicate her look!

Top 10 Clogs That Will Make You Want to Pack Away Your Stilettos

imageWhile watching the Spring 2010 shows like Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu I noticed one thing…they were all wearing clogs. What? I had to look again; yes those are definitely clogs they are wearing. So it seems that clogs are back, and this trend has been gaining steam for a little while before it went high fashion in Paris and Milan. MK and Ashley Olsen have been wearing clogs for over a year now, and Michelle Williams was seen walking her adorable daughter, Matilda with some equally adorable clog boots by No.6. But if anyone is going to take the look and make it a trend it’s going to be Karl Lagerfeld. While the Chanel ones are drool worthy their price tag (retailing over $1,000) is a little steep for wooden shoes. So I had to look into some other options, because I can’t see this being a long lasting trend. Just to clarify these are not your basic wooden clog or leather nurses clog, and they are defiantly not those horrid colored plastic ones either! These clogs are sexy and embellished, some with heels as high as those on your favorite stilettos. There will be no need to pair them with super light wash 70’s style bell bottoms, these clogs will work best paired floaty little dresses and romantic sheer tops. Check out the SLIDESHOW for the top 10 clogs that won€™t cost you a month€™s rent.

Which Rihanna Hairstyle Is Your Favorite?

imageOur favorite songstress from Barbados has certainly had her ups and downs. I’m not talking about Rihanna’s personal life these days but her hairstyles! She’s been seen since late last year with a interesting and surprising versatile hairstyle. The sides of her head are very short while the hair on her crown is dyed blonde and kept long. Quite the one note haircut, right? Nope! Rihanna promoted her latest album in November with her hair slicked to one side. The use of a hair serum like mark Salon Straight Anti-Frizz Serum would keep any frizz and flyaways at bay for a sleek look. In January, Rihanna relaxed at a basketball game in Los Angeles with her hair transformed into bouncy curls that seemed to match her happy mood. Lastly, she rocked out at a Super Bowl concert with an edgy outfit and hair to match. Her long sections of hair were spiked up into a mohawk with gel or pomade much like the Billy Jealousy Lunatic Fringe Hair Pomade found at Sephora. So tell me, which Rihanna hairstyle is your favorite? Image credit: PR Photos

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14 Premieres Tonight! Check Out My Top 3 Predictions!

imageYup, it’s “America’s Next Top Model” season yet again, and after a brief interlude of giving the shorter girls a chance last fall (was I the only one that found it super blahhh?), cycle 14 takes things back to their 5’7″-and-up standards. But at least one vital aspect is bound to be different this time — new judge Andre Leon Talley, Vogue editor-at-large, is joining the judges’ table! I know what you’re thinking: are Andre and Miss J. going to have to compete to out-sass each other? Much to my dismay (and probably yours too), Miss J. is retiring his post on the panel for the time-being. But fear not — he’ll still be gracing us with his presence on the show, returning to a more coach-like position to help train the models rather than just sending them packing. So which of this cycle’s 13 contestants are destined to go the distance? You know I love sizing the girls up on the CW site and making first impression-based predictions, and while I haven’t quite mastered the art of snap judgments, I’m determined not to give up! Last time, my guesses certainly improved — two of them made it nearly to the end (it’s not my fault they didn’t have a Top 3 this time around!) and one of my picks even took the shorty title (yay Nicole!). Maybe this time I’ll hit the psychic jackpot and name all three! Visit the CW site to learn more about the models you’ll see on the show tonight, then read on to see my predictions for this season’s Top 3! Photo Source: CWtv.com
