Table That Is A PC

The C-Walker is a radical PC + Table concept whose idea germinates from the fact that workstations with CPU, wires, screen and keyboard look cluttered and distracting. One of the ways to streamline the desk is to integrate the PC into the table itself. What we have now is a desk with wires that are internally set, a virtual keyboard and a projected screen. USB slots and CD ROM slots are flushed to the side of tabletop, along with the power button. Essentially we have a hybrid desk that part PC and part table. Yes, the functional future has arrived!

Modular Cooktop

CookPlat is conceived as a portable Pyrex vitroceramic cooker that uses magnetic induction technology. Designed to be modular, this cooker can be transported and used in just about any environment. Since it is a vitroceramic hob, the cooker directly heats up the utensil via a magnetic field and doesn’t use heating resistors (radiant heat).

For a layperson this means efficient cooking via less energy loss. Some of the key features include being dishwasher safe, outdoor compatible, configurable modules, and the ‘capacitance touch switch’ has a longer lifetime than ordinary switches.

CookPlat is a 2013 Red Dot Award: Design Concept Best of Best winner.

Deckle & Hide

Bloesem Living | Deckle and Hide Leather goods and candles

When we first got our hands on these Deckle and Hide candles, we fell in love with the amazing scent it filled the studio with. (Everyone who entered told us it smelt like a spa!) Originally it was just for our smelling pleasure but then we realised even people from the other stores in the street wanted to get their hands on the candles so we decided to start selling them in the Bloesem shop too! We wanted to share the wondrous smells with everyone and so far the candles have been a hit.

Besides their lovely candles, Deckle and Hide also carries a range of locally (in Australia) hand crafted leather goods. Many of their products are made-to-order. (Saw a beautiful back pack they made specially for a customer on their instagram!)

Very much inspired by the natural concept behind Deckle and Hide's products, we went back to nature with this shoot! And Zara did an amazing job styling and photographing the Deckle and Hide collection. I'm so blessed to have her in my team!

Their leather goods are made from full grain, vegetable tanned bovine hide and kangaroo leather laced detailing for strength and durability. Then they are conditioned with natural oil and finished with beeswax. The leather develops its own unique, aged patina through use as they are not dyed.

Other than their stress-relieving scent, they are made from 100% natural ingredients! Anne and Luke first realised that burning many candles you see in stores could be detrimental to health because of all the toxic chemical in them so they decided they come up with their own line of 100% botanical candles that they would be able to enjoy without causing any harm to the little ones in the family.

Guessing Game #18

Probably the last Guessing Game for this year, so get cracking at it! What is this design? A hairband…or….

Today’s hint: The most important value in the number system is what we call it. However the absence of the obvious makes it possible for us to pose like The Thinker.

Wow I am good at riddles!

In any case, here is Zero, a concept based on “something suddenly becoming more noticeable in its absentia.” The absence of the sitting surface makes this furniture piece intriguing and experimental. Crafted from thermo-setting polymer with ‘Pearlescent’ colors, the seating has been designed in collaboration with MERCK and is limited edition.

When something smells funny…

One way we naturally determine the quality of our food is to give it a quick smell. But even our noses get it wrong sometimes! The Smeller works much in the same way, but with enhanced sensitivity. It picks up on the most minute of scents and compares them to a vast library to let the user know the exact condition of produce, meat and other foods. You can even share your smells on social media with just a click of a button!
