We can’t imagine a world without color. From health care to transportation, we rely on it to cue us daily. But for about ten percent of the world, color is relative.
Miguel Neiva has created a color coding system to improve daily life for the predominantly male population who experience color blindness (also know as Daltonism). The Color Add Color Identification System offers monochromatic icons to represent a range of colors. Using red, yellow and blue as the foundation, a code is developed in order to create visual icons. These icons can then be included on all color-based systems (from clothing tags to transportation maps) in order to increase accessibility and understanding.

Last week four new Banksy creations found at the Regent’s Canal lit up the blogosphere. One of the pieces (seen above) was of a man painting over graffiti. As Treehugger points out Banksy painted over a fellow artist’s work, a sprayer by the name of King Robbo. Robbo’s piece had been standing unharmed since 1985. In response King Robbo covered up Banksy’s work with 3 foot high silver letters spelling his name.

King Robbo strikes back:
From Timesonline: According to graffiti folklore this spat is not the first disagreement between Banksy and King Robbo. The 1980s pioneering vandal recounted a story in London Handstyles, a book on graffiti published in 2009, in which he claimed to have confronted the now-famous artist.
“I was out one night with a load of old writers and got introduced to Banksy,” King Robbo said. “He asked what I wrote and I told him, he cockily replied ”never heard of you” so I slapped him and said, ”You may not of heard of me but you will never forget me.’”
With a couple trips to Brazil, the first in our word-of-mouth city tours and plenty documented at home in NYC, 2009 marked yet another banner year for our video series.
Grafica Fidalga Since we aired this at the first 99% conference (a joint production of yours truly and Behance) in April, we go to this portrait of three printmakers in São Paulo as our default favorite and best example of what we do. These kinds of subjects really almost make the video themselves, but our contributor Phuong Cac (who literally wrote the book on cultural São Paulo today) deserves a shout out for making the connection and coming along on the shoot.
Cool Hunting’s Oakland: A Word-of-Mouth Guide After a little media controversy over our snapshot of Oakland—while we welcome the criticism—it didn’t change the fact that we really like our experimental portrait of the city. Here’s to a 2010 with a lot more videos covering places in the U.S. and abroad this way.
Sergio Rodrigues We not only had the tremendous opportunity to shoot in Brazil this year, but caught up with one of the nation’s most illustrious designers Sergio Rodrigues when he visited NYC to promote the reissue of his fabulous Cornuto chair. His charm and wit shows not just in his furniture but in his personality too.
Sunpie Barnes I first met the musician Sunpie Barnes coincidentally when visiting Jean Lafitte National Park where he was a park ranger. When we were looking for musicians to shoot in New Orleans, I remembered his easygoing demeanor and unexpected day job. The resulting video, shot at a benefit concert and burial ground on the banks of the Mississippi, makes a nice little portrait of Sunpie and shows off another side of the Crescent City.
São Paulo Fashion Week Summer 2010: The Bikini For our second trip to check out São Paulo’s fashion week, we decided to just focus on the definitive item of Brazilian fashion, the bikini. With plenty of runway footage documenting the latest designs, we also get some thoughts on the subject from attendees, models and editors.
Ben Barry and the Facebook Design team working with what looks like a limitless budget conceived a beautifully intricate 19X19 poster that was printed, embossed, and foil-stamped to perfection. Go to FPO for more on the process behind the design.

If you’re not familiar with the fact that our favorite Gossip GirlLeighton Meester has been making a name for herself in the music scene, you need to get yourself out from under that rock! If not for the love of guilty pleasure tunes, then at least for the sake of scoping out her killer music video getups! But if you’re expecting preppy-chic Blair Waldorf style, you’re in for a rude awakening. Leighton leaves her buttoned-up TV alter ego for a more seductive style in mini dresses, over-the-knee boots, and plenty of blue eyeshadow and swaps Chuck Bass for Robin Thicke (lucky girl!). While the video is pretty provocative, some of the looks (that actually involve clothing) are pretty covetable… then again, Leighton could probably make even a cardboard box look splurge-worthy. Click “See Video” to watch “Somebody to Love,” then look at the slideshow for some wearable interpretations of the outfits! Photo Credit: Vh1.com
