Resolve To Get In Shape In 2010 With New Fitness Gear!
Posted in: UncategorizedOne of my new year’s resolutions from 2009 was to take the stairs whenever possible instead of using escalators or elevators. My resolution worked out so well that I’m continuing to take the stairs for 2010! I guess I could be getting a gym membership, but I’m still way too self-conscious to work out in front of other people. (Don’t judge!) So to combat the post-holiday bulge, I’ve been looking for other simple and affordable fitness gadgets I can get. I love fitness balls since they’re so versatile but I hate the way they can slide around. That’s why the Danskin 3-in-1 Core Ball with Stabilizing Ring fits the bill. I threw in some other fitness accessories that are also useful like the Penguin 3-Pk Shoe Deodorizers that will turn your smelly sneaks into something a little more bearable. 2010 Clock
Posted in: UncategorizedThis is my kitchen clock bought 11 years ago in Ikea for nothing.
I snapped-off the second hand, it drove me nuts.
Fucker’s noisy, no wonder he ended up in the kitchen.
The graphics on it are heavy handed and sloppy, but it gives me reassurance.
It makes me think of a soviet era nuclear bunker.
How’s that for tranquility?
This year I vote for transparency.
Let’s build a better future.
The one we project blows.
I’ll help.
Third hanger chair. Is this the original?
Posted in: UncategorizedWe posted on Jörg Gätjens’ hanger chair back in 2005. (see picture B after the jump). Two years later we found another chair made along the same basic idea, this time from Pottinger Cole (picture C after the jump). At the time we suspected that PC had looked a little too much at Gätjens’ chair/nightstand before they made theirs. But, lo and behold, this weekend we found a third variation (picture A after the jump) along this idea, and it looks like the oldest by far. So maybe Jörg Gätjens too found his inspiration outside of his own studio… Today’s find is called Jakkens Hvile or Valet chair JH-540 and it was designed in the early fifties (probably 1953) by well known Danish designer Hans Wegner (1914 – 2007) for furniture maker Johannes Hansen. The Valet chair is still in production, now by PP Møbler, and it’s available new for about DKK 50,000:- (about USD 9,600:-). A vintage Valet chair will be a lot more expensive, you’ll probably have to pay somewhere around USD 10,000:- to 15,000:- to lay your hands on one. Here’s one for sale for SEK 95,000:- (about USD 13,000:-).br

Posted in: UncategorizedMarvel marked the 35th anniversary of Wolverine in April with 14 variant covers in which the hirsute mutant was depicted in the styles of artists ranging from Alphonse Mucha to Andy Warhol to an anonymous cave painter. Here, Skottie Young, who’s been on a roll with his cover work this year, interprets Wolverine in the manner of Edward Gorey.
