La série « Through the Window » a germé en 2002 dans l’esprit du photographe italien Giorgio Barrera. Il a voyagé en Norvège, Italie, Espagne, Danemark, Finlande et aussi en Allemagne pour prendre en photo des gens à travers leurs fenêtres. Un point de vue intéressant sur l’intimité, à voir dans la suite.

Atem is an innovative breathing windo panel that brings in fresh air and maintains its purity as well. It provides constant air circulation and balances the air temperature according to your needs. The panel is such that it constantly evaluates the quality of the air and opens and closes air passages of the membrane panel. The system can be controlled through a control station and an app.
Atem is a 2013 Electrolux Design Lab Semifinalist.

Focus sur Michael Wolf, un photographe allemand vivant à Hong Kong et dont le travail se porte sur la place de l’homme : son mode de vie au sein des grandes villes. Avec cette intéressante série appelée « Window Watching », ce dernier a capturé des scènes de vie de ses voisins qu’il a pu observer depuis chez lui.
Herbow is a rain shelter and a window herb garden. A very unique and unconventional combination, but one that works! Given the way counties like Japan have been upping their efforts in going green by growing creepers and other such plants on their building’s external walls, to lower internal temperatures and conserving electricity, these kind of gardens suit the urban landscape perfectly.
Herbow is a window planter ‘tray’ that enables people to grow small crops outside their windows while shielding their interior space from the rain. By swinging Herbow upwards, it becomes a window shelter that blocks the harsh sunlight and the rain. At the same time, the plants are watered and grow naturally. An eave has been designed to extend over the shelter to stop water falling through the gap between Herbow and the window frame. Holes on two sides of Herbow allow for drainage of excess water.
Herbow is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

The Original Breath is a window based air purifier that brings in purified air into your room and employs a very unique way of doing this. It features a system where the external part consists of a solar panel (to power a mini suction fan), an outer glass and plants. So basically what happens is that the air enters the room only after passing through this sealed ventilation box. Regular air is sucked in with the help of the fan and the plants do their thing by absorbing the carbon dioxide and expelling oxygen. The air that is filtered into the room is much cleaner and fresher than before. Clever!

Functional Window AC is a lighter-side-of-life take on window ACs and the general concept of owning updated appliances. With innovations in technology and frequent design changes, most window air conditioners get outdated pretty fast. By equipping this concept with a blank sketching surface, the designer suggests that we design our own AC covers and keep them updated with doodles and current themes.
