If you’d like to help the cause, read on:
Here’s what Mattson Creative’s going to do. They’d like to donate this art to help with flood relief in the broadest possible way. So instead of printing these themselves, or working exclusively with one organization, what thay’re going to do is give the art to anyone who wants to use it to raise money. You can create prints, stickers, t-shirts…anything and everything that you think will help.
The only thing that they would ask is that 100% of all proceeds to any of the following charities:
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennesee
Hands On Nashville
Nashville Red Cross
2nd Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee
Samaritan’s Purse

pInitiated during a href=”http://www.core77.com/gallery/milan-design-week-2010/226.asp”Milan Design Week 2010/a, a href=”http://www.deliver-takeaway-ideas.org/”Deliver Takeaway/a is a mobile and online platform for sharing and taking ideas (for anyone except “factories and traders” that is). The project is spearheaded by Swiss designers Kueng Caputo, who came up with a href=”http://www.passengerbooks.com/stage/order.php?page=kue-ca”Copy/a, one of our favorite design books ever. /p

pAll the ideas originally collected by accumulating post-it notes on the surface of a minivan in Zona Tortona have been scanned and posted to the a href=”http://www.deliver-takeaway-ideas.org”Deliver Takeaway website/a. It looks like the questions may change over time. Currently under investigaton: “Is there something the Designer should take care of?” /p
pResponses run the gamut from simply “Steam Boat Travel” to the very specific “Precious Photo with Smell.” The weirdest one so far? “More funny/interesting/relaxing actions I could do ALONE in the dark, with light/sound/objects…” /p

pWe’ve all heard about the A HREF=”http://gizmodo.com/5211135/man-builds-chair-that-tweets-his-farts-single+handedly-justifies-twitters-existence” chair that Tweets/A. In unrelated news, Alberta-based ID student A HREF=”http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_profile.asp?individual_id=262710″ Nolan Herbut/A has made a keyboard you can sit on. Well, sort of; it doesn’t work as a keyboard, but his Wolfgang Keyboard Bench is surfaced using 2000 keys installed with their carriages intact, meaning they depress and click when sat on. /p

Are you ready to go head to head in a landscape design smackdown? Can you can you out-tile the competition? Know someone who can keep his or her cool when a welding contest really heats up? Then consider applying to become a contestant on DIY Dominator, a series premiering July 30 on DIY Network. Each episode will pit three skilled competitors against one another in construction and home improvement competitions (in a specific trade) as they battle it out to earn the title of DIY Dominator and a $10,000 grand prize. The casting call seeks problem-solvers who are skilled and experienced in the fields of landscape design, masonry, welding, decking, or finish carpentry (a field notorious for its smack talk, or so a slightly tipsy Bob Vila once told us). Go here—scroll down to “DIY Dominator”—to download an application. Submit it no later than Tuesday, June 1 to be considered.

One of the biggest summer wardrobe challenges is how to keep cool with a tank and shorts or a breezy sundress but also have some added visual interest without adding heavy layers. The easy answer to this summer fashion conundrum is to add a scarf! No, I’m not talking about the heavy knits from winter. Instead, I’m thinking about light scarves in silk, cotton, or linens in bright colors that can be tied around the handles of your purse and then wrapped around your neck when it gets chilly at night. With any seasonal accessory, I like to spend as little as possible so I was able to find 10 summer scarves under $25. One of my favorite finds is the Pins and Needles Forest Oblong Scarf from UrbanOutfitters since it’s large enough to drape over your shoulders or even use as a impromptu picnic blanket. For something more decorative go for the Brazen Chain Trim Infinity Jersey Scarf for an alternative to a chunky necklace. Take a look at my slideshow to see more scarves fit for summer! |
