Phablet – Tablet = Phone

It looks so funny when people try and talk on the Galaxy Tab (like a phone) and on the flipside we rue that the iPad can’t make calls. I love the middle path taken by the s.Max, which is a tablet with a detachable mobile phone. The clever design allows both devices to be used independently or in conjunction with each other. I love the ease with which you can get a closer look at the stage, when in a concert. Brills!

x.Max is a Dongguan Cup winner.

wPad

There is only one word for the Wise Pad – exceptional! Here is a tablet that has a device that is piggybacking on it and can be used to make calls and even juice up via kinetics. I bet there will be some complex tech involved, which only my engineering friends will be able to help figure out. Until then I am going to enjoy this project as a concept and so should you!

Versatile Tablet PC

A transforming Tablet PC is the best way to describe the Apollon. The device functions as a book reader sized tablet and can morph into a large 15inch 16:9 ratio screen. To make life easy, the Apollon uses dual OS. Windows OS for wide mode, which is effective at using heavy programs and watching wide resolution medias. The Android OS for the minimized experience intended for casual use like web surfing and PDF viewing.

Features:

  • The dock has extra CPU, Memory, VGA, and SATA SSD which boosts the performance of the tablet.
  • The tablet can be wirelessly connected to the dock by Wi-Fi Direct.
  • Flexible display is wound around the two rollers on each end.
  • When the extension unlock button is pressed, the lock will be released and the tablet can be extended horizontally.
  • Apollon is a hybrid PC and can be used as conventional tablet, wider version tablet, and also a PC when it’s docked.
  • Apollon does not lose its portability while maintaining its powerful performance.

We encourage you to graffiti!

Psychologists have studied vandalism for years and found that boredom, peer pressure and revenge are often the cause. But it’s often overlooked that it’s also kinda fun! Just ask Banksy! This picture frame concept, Vadalijst, allows you to insert your favorite photos and vandalize them by doodling silly things with a whiteboard marker. Mustaches, monocles, capes and more… the options are endless!

Ergonomic eReader

While using an iPad to read an article, designer Chi-Tai Hsu started to notice finger pain and discomfort from the constant scrolling as well as eye fatigue from having to carefully stare at the text line while repositioning the paragraph to read more. Chi’s response to this problem is the “Reading Serenely” eReader with eInk display. Like reading a bound book, the design attempts to mimic the way in which we naturally flip from page to page with finger swipes happening less frequently.
