DKNY Supports Charity CITYarts In New York City!

imageDKNY has designed a tee with a cause, cleverly dubbed the “Chari-Tee.” DKNY’s Chari-Tee is an interactive program between DKNY and those who love and wear it! The tee retails for $65 and benefits a menu of NYC organizations. Each hangtag lists five NYC charities to which you can donate. Once you’ve decided on the organization, log on to dkny.com and select your choice. DKNY will then donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of your Chari-tee! It’s a fun, cool way to send instant love to NYC! In addition to the Chari-tee, DKNY has produced eight different eco-friendly printed totes featuring artwork of eight NYC students, created for the CITYarts “Portraits of Peace” initiative. There are 5 of each style — 40 unique bags in total. The totes are only $25 each with all proceeds going back to CITYarts, but they’ll only be available at the DKNY store on Madison Avenue, so make sure you head over if you’re in the area! The Budget Stylista: Don’t Be Fooled by the Rocks That I Got!

imageJewelry can make or break an outfit. This is fact. It’s a great way to spice up your usual uniform (jeans, black v-neck, black flats – I know it all too well), assuming, of course, that you don’t go overboard and look like you went shopping in your grandma’s closet (tchotchke heaven). This season there is no better way to reinvent some old pieces in your wardrobe than by adding some bling bling. Right now jewelry is big, it’s bold, it’s bedazzled, jeweled and animal printed. It’s also ridiculously overpriced at so many places. But those aren’t the places you are going to be shopping, because it is so easy to find pieces for cheap that look like they belong in J.Lo’s closet. Read: bling blingin’ on the cheap cheapin’. So before you go spending $150 on a necklace you claim will give you seasons of love, come to terms with the fact that in 12 months time, you will more likely than not have moved on out – Jeffersons style – to something that’s a lot less animal printed. So why spend $150 when you can get the same bangin’ look for $15? Yeah, I thought so. Want to see more blingin’ budget jewelry? Click over to our friends at College Candy!

Treat Your Feet! 15 Fancy Flip-Flops Under $15

imageFlip-flops, thongs, rubber slippers … whatever you call them, you can’t deny that they’re awesome. I’m usually a dresses and heels type of girl. No sneakers for me! But I can’t always run around town and complete errands in a timely and comfortable manner if I’m teetering around in heels. I love flip-flops. They’re comfortable and you can barely tell you have anything on your feet! I’ve even gone hiking in flip-flops and felt as at ease as if I had a pair of Nike sneakers on! Another great thing? They’re so cheap, with retailers like Old Navy and Wal-Mart offering multiple pairs in every color imaginable for less than it would cost to hop the subway. I personally own quite a few pairs of these rubber slippers in a multitude of colors and I love matching them to a casual jeans and a t-shirt type outfits I usually wear for a relaxed weekend. However, as great and easy as these simple pieces of footwear are, I still run into a dilemma. Sure, flip-flops are comfortable and totally appropriate for just hanging out with family and friends, but what if you have something to go to that requires actual footwear? Most of the time, my feet are too sore from the night before to imagine stuffing them into another pair of stilettos, but I can’t roll into a nice luncheon with a pretty sundress and some ratty flip-flops! Luckily, it’s summer and designers are offering a great selection of fancy flip-flops featuring jewels, metallics, leather, and other fun and pretty details at more-than-affordable prices. Check out the slideshow for flip-flops that will enhance the outfit without hurting the feet!

Leather Skirts for Fall from DvF and 3.1 Phillip Lim

imageI saw a leather miniskirt while shopping the other day and was instantly drawn to it, but instantly wondered if I could pull it off. I decided against it, but then– while perusing the fashion pages later– I came across a couple of gems which helps to quell my fears of leather. I love the pleated leather mini from 3.1 Phillip Lim; it is a take on the popular skater skirt silhouette. I plan to pair it with black tights and it will look great with platform ankle booties too. Another leather skirt that caught my eye is this leather pencil skirt from Diane von Furstenberg. It works perfectly for the office as well as for after work cocktails when paired with classic leather pumps.

The Hottest Headphones To Help You Tune Out In Style

imageConfession: I’m a girl who practically has her mp3 player permanently wired to her eardrums. In fact, I’ve been known to skip class whenever my iPod was too low on battery to survive the walk (though I don’t condone such naughty behavior). As a result, I know all about the importance of a nice, stylish pair of headphones. So what if you’re in the market for a new pair but just don’t have $300 to spring for those fancy-schmancy Dr. Dre ones? Luckily for us audiophile fashionistas, over-the-ear headphones and the more discreet in-ear earbuds are becoming more and more prominent in their use as fashion statements with their sleek designs and wild colors and embellishments, and they still provide excellent sound quality without costing a small fortune. Go big and bold with a cushy neon pair like Aerial 7’s Matadors or keep it sleek with a subtly funky pair of earbuds by Elecom. Check the slideshow for a selection of headphones so hip, you might start wearing them around your neck just to coordinate with your sneakers!

Define Your Style (And Your Waist) With A Thick Belt

imageTrust me, even under wraps, your curves have a lot to say in the name of style. A big trend to tap back into this season is thick belts, and not only are they a great way to hide or accentuate what your mama gave you, the mere addition of any belt, especially a thick one, can change the entire look of your outfit. For those of you with a sense of style that changes as often as the tabloids’ latest gossip, a big belt can be an economical fix to your ever-morphing expression. Fringe, layers, studs and buckles on these babies are among many different elements to choose from in helping you define what kind of flare you’d like to add to your ever-changing fashion mood. Check out the slideshow for some hip suggestions to add to your collection of thick belts!

Nicole Richie to Partner With A Pea in the Pod!

imageWe love Nicole Richie’s style. And we love that, even when she’s pregnant, she still looks extremely well put-together and fashionable. She doesn’t let a little baby weight get her down! And now she’s bringing her maternity style to everyone. Nicole’s getting ready to have her second baby and the girl looks good. And now she’s partnering up with A Pea in the Pod to bring her maternity fashions to everyone. According to Nicole, “A Pea in the Pod and I joined to create a capsule collection of maternity wear that will be available in stores this summer. Last weekend I shot some images for the campaign with one of my favorite photographers, James White. I’m really excited for you all to see the new collection.” The Pea in the Pod clothing line is due out at the end of the summer (get it, due?!) and we can’t wait to see what it looks like. Knowing Nicole Richie, it’s going to be pretty, bohemian chic designs and we’ll probably love it. We can definitely see lots of moms-to-be wanting to look as chic as the pregnant Nicole! It’s also been said that Nicole Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden are furnishing the entire baby nursery in a green, environmentally-friendly manner. As the years go by, we just like Nicole Richie more and more! To see more about Nicole Richie and her A Pea In The Pod partnership, click on over to our friends at Limelife!

Hot In The Hive: Sonos ZonePlayer 120

imageMy favorite dance clubs are the kinds with multiple rooms or floors that play different types of music in each section. That way, I’m never bored, always have a multiple options to choose from, and all my friends can find a room that they like. Have you ever imagined bringing that into your own home? I found a company called Sonos which makes wireless audio receivers and speakers that work in your home. Start out with the Sonos ZonePlayer, plug in your router and favorite speakers, and you’re ready to go. With this system, you can listen music from your own iTunes library or listen to digital radio stations like Sirius and Pandora. Add ZonePlayers in other rooms and you can have your own in-house dance club. Sing along with Aretha Franklin and other classics in your bathroom and rock out to Gwen Stefani and Rihanna in your kitchen! Best of all, you can control everything with their Sonos controller, your computer, or your iPhone!

Price: $499
Who Found It: facadeindreams was the first to add the Sonos ZonePlayer to the Hive.

Show Some Skin In A Chic Cutout Dress!

imageRemember the ’90s? When models weren’t just models, they were supermodels. The glamazons graced the covers of magazines and walked the red carpet just as often as the runway. They strutted their stuff in sexy body-con frocks; who could forget Cindy Crawford’s strappy black mini or Elizabeth Hurley’s safety-pinned skintight Versace gown? While those times may seem like a forgotten era, at least their way of dressing has come back in style. It’s been hard to ignore the all the body conscious dresses out there! Ever since the return of Herve Leger, the fashion world just can’t get enough. But now the snug silhouette has turned even more daring! Designers have been snipping and clipping into these dresses, giving us a whole new way to be revealing. Some designers, like Stella McCartney and Black Halo, have gone the subtle route, offering strappy, open cut outs around the shoulders. Another subtle way to rock this trend is with a cut out back, like Charlotte Ronson’s exposed zipper mini dress! Or for a cheap fix try the Spring & Clifton cut out dolman tunic. Some designers have even opted to give you cut outs with out actual skin showing but replacing some areas of fabric with micro-mesh. My favorite is the Two Toned Mini Dress from American Apparel. But if you really want to embody that sex pot ’90s style, you have to go all out with some daring mid drift cut outs a la Alexander Wang! See the slideshow for the cutout dresses on my wishlist.
