Sex And The City Fashion Is Back!

imageRemember when that whole debate was going on about whether or not Carrie Bradshaw and the women of “Sex and the City” should have to suffer the perils of the economy along with the rest of us? They decided no. And we’re kind of glad because we just got a peek at some of Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfits for the movie sequel! Sure, we’re super jealous we probably can’t afford anything the ladies will be wearing on the Sex and the City sequel movie. But we’re also pretty content just looking at their clothing. And drooling a bit too. That white Halston dress Carrie is wearing? We already want it. And we wouldn’t really mind snagging the Christian Louboutin shoes and gold Chanel clutch along with it. Take a peek at LimeLife to see the rest of the droolworthy outfits SJP is wearing!

Get Physical In Fall’s Gym-Inspired Looks

imageYou don’t have to run marathons or have a relationship with the Stairmaster to appreciate fall’s athletic-inspired looks. Just look at Isabel Marant’s fall ’09 runway, where sweatshirt tees go from gym to glam when paired with layered skirts and embellished ankle boots. Alexander Wang has been taking sweatpants out of the gym for a few seasons now, and given their slouchy, not sloppy cut, they could almost pass as dress pants if worn with heels and a blazer- just don’t tell your boss you slept in them the night before. On a budget? American Eagle and Free People can hook you up without the pricey membership. The key is to look for pieces with unexpectedly luxe touches (like cashmere or sequins), or pair casual ones with something more polished- in other words, leave the sneakers at home. Go Back To School (Or Work) WIth A Stylish Backpack!

imageI love tote bags as much as the next person but lugging my laptop, lunch, and other necessities to work everyday has taken a toll on my poor right shoulder. So I’ve started using a backpack as my day bag instead. The only one I have right now is an old North Face backpack from my high school days. It’s still fully functional, but I’ve been looking for something a little more stylish instead of looking like I’m going off to hike a mountain. Lucky me, it seems like backpacks have become a trendy accessory with brands and designers from Kate Spade to Juicy Couture making backpacks fit for every fashionista. While backpacks can be seen most often in school hallways, chances are you’ll also find people using backpacks outside of school and work. They distribute weight more evenly than large shoulder bags and leave the crook of your arm to hold more shopping bags instead! Take a look at my slideshow to see some stylish backpacks you should carry around this fall.

Fall Wardrobe Wish List: The Bomber Jacket

imageEvery year there’s that one item I MUST add to my closet (even if it means living on Ramen for the next month to afford it). Despite the fact that my shopping addiction has my closet filled to the brim, I always justify the need for a new piece by the “school shopping” tradition instilled in me since elementary school. You have to have some new stuff to start the school year, right? So this year I will undoubtedly break down (most likely sooner rather than later, I’ll get more wear out of it!), rush into Express and snatch up their Leather Belted Jacket. It is so adorable it hurts. The soft faux-leather (which allows it to fit comfortably into my budget at $98.00 and spare the life of a poor, defenseless cow) is painfully cool and the chic knotted belt around the waist that gives it that feminine twist. And you can’t get any more on point with the fall trends; it basks in all of its bad-ass glory with silver-zippered pockets. Click on over to our friends at CollegeCandy to see how you can style this chic bomber jacket.

Suiting Up For The Opportunity, Inspired By Ryden Malby in Post Grad!

imageAfter earning her degree, Post Grad protagonist Ryden Malby (played by Alexis Bledel) is bugging out on account of the economy’s grim job market. It’s a rocky boat to find yourself on, but don’t let the hiring regrets get you down. It’s easy to sit back and mope, but times like these require young adults like us to jump into the trenches and to keep putting our best food forward. Persistence is key, and no matter how many interviews you sweat through until you land what you need to launch your career, your efforts count. One of the best foot-in-the-door techniques for an interview is to dress like you own the place. Impressing the recruitment director with class that even shows up the CEO will certainly get you noticed as someone who’s ready to suit up to be a member of the team. A wardrobe of suits, vests and blazers, however, doesn’t need to look as bland as your father’s closet: take a peek at our slideshow for a stylish way to blow your interviewer away! Keep your heads up, all you college grads — the economy can’t stay like this forever!

Look At The Designer Goodies I Found At Marshalls And TJMaxx!

imageWho wouldn’t like to have a closet full of designer brands to choose from? I know I would! Even if you don’t have a million dollars to spend, you can still look like a million bucks! I’ve always known about Marshalls and TJ Maxx… who doesn’t? I know that they sell clothes for a low, low price. One can find many current trends at these discount department stores, but usually from brands that no-one has heard of, and even if the trend is right, the material and construction make you wonder if you should have just gone to Forever 21 instead. Recently, I made a stop at both Marshalls and TJ Maxx and was amazed at the selection of designer brands and high-quality apparel and accessories for a fraction of the price! BCBG, Theory, Tahari, Ralph Lauren… did I make a wrong turn and end up at Nordstrom? Nope! Current fashions and must-have basics divided into sections by designer were what greeted me and I happily replied. Ready to get some great summer-to-fall pieces? Or just looking to add a few designer brand garments to your wardrobe repertoire? Count on Marshalls and TJ Maxx to help you look and feel like you just went on a Saks shopping spree, but still have money left in your purse! Check out the slideshow to see what I found!

Say It Loud: Got ‘Em At Aldo & I’m Proud!

imageThe days of dreaming about how to get those $600 designer shoes are over. Most of us grew up with brands like Steve Madden and Aldo in our local mall or shopping center. Tried and true, we visited these stores for last-minute parties or a pair of work pumps… but not anymore. These brands have caught all the way up, and now feature designs that are fierce, funky and fabulous. With the economy in such a rough state, money is spread thinly for most. But for us ladies, having an amazing shoe must always be in the budget. With most prices at $100 or less, and styles that rival designer brands, you can two-step in your new shoes all the way to the bank! We love these strappy croc booties, especially at the bargain price of $90! See more fashion, beauty, and style news at Essence.

Phoenicia Association Brings Art And Style To Phoenix

imageThere’s a new kid on the block in Phoenix! Phoenicia Association, a well-cultivated men’s store and gallery space, opened earlier this month. Inside the seemingly abandoned brick building holds some of coolest, hard to find duds in the area. Started by friends Jeff Mann and Kyle Simone (both avid street fashion connoisseurs and patrons of the arts) were looking to cultivate a new way of thinking about and looking at art and design in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The shop is split into two sections: one that sells hard to find men’s clothing labels April77, Wrath Arcane, Hixsept, and 3Sixteen, and the other that houses a gallery with monthly rotating artists. If you’re in the area, make sure not to miss the opening parties for the new gallery shows that feature local artists, musicians and DJs! Check them out at www.wearephoenicia.com.
