Shoe of the Week – Jessica Simpson ‘Kingsley’ Bootie

imageFashion’s favorite functional trim may be the exposed zipper, but we’ve been seeing more and more clothing and accessories that feature exposed elastic as the main design detail. As much as we love a chunky exposed zipper, we couldn’t be more excited to see elastic taking the spotlight and being used for more than just waistbands. Take the Jessica Simpson Kingsley; this black suede bootie’s classic silhouette is given a chic utilitarian update with the thick band of elastic at the front of the foot. Not just a design detail, the elastic serves a practical function of stretching to allow easy slip on of the shoe. At the same time sexy and tough, this unexpected detail is sure to turn heads.

Couture In The City Is Loving Cropped Trenches!

imageCropped trenches are what’s new this season – a cute look that pulls together an outfit in a flash. We’ve seen them on Rebecca Gayheart, Rashida Jones, and Amada Peet, and they may be just the thing to update your clothing collection if you are limited to a few key pieces. The brand Burberry comes to most people€™s mind the minute they hear the words ‘trench coat’, so you’d fully expect this iconic British brand to set the tone for mini trenches. The Burberry Brit Cropped Trench coat does not disappoint. It’s a single-breasted twill trench with touches like a point collar, epaulets, flap pockets in front, back vent, and self belt. Measuring about 25 inches from shoulder to hem, it’s the perfect length for your casual outfits this fall and winter.

Label Love – Louis Vuitton S/S 2011

imageVibrant hues, sumptuous satins and silky knits, Oriental inspired cuts and details, bold animal and floral prints and an overall feel of 1970s luxe took over the runway for the Louis Vuitton S/S 2011 runway show.

Dresses and silhouettes that celebrated a woman’s shape and curves were detailed with mandarin collars, thigh-high slits and bold color blocking. Jumpsuits and one pieces featured plunging necklines, metallic shimmer and colorful blocking, with voluminous, billowing fabric and cinched waists all around.

With the Asian-inspired influence, colorful animal and floral prints and sophisticated sensuality, the entire collection was reminiscent of a nonchalantly luxurious and fashion forward Shanghai from it’s hey-day as the Paris of the Orient. 3 Celeb Hairstyles That We Love!

imageStylehive Hair Series Powered by Pantene

We all have our favorite celebrities and celebrity styles that we love to try and emulate, but while re-making an entire ensemble may prove to be quite difficult at times (afterall, we love their looks, but we’d love to have the same money to spend on it more!), copying a flattering hairstyle is much easier. We’ve gathered three big-name stars that have recently taken drastic style changes to their own coifs and we have to say … we love it! So from spunky short cuts to long, luxurious waves and this season’s ‘it’ hair color, here are three celeb styles that we want to try for ourselves!

Textured Straight Bob – The voluptuous Scarlett Johansson recently debuted her new, shorter bob. This is the perfect look for someone trying to shed a girl-next-door image for something a little more sensual, but youthful. To add texture, like Scarlet, rub in a few drops of texturizing cream or serum to damp hair, part hair slightly off center and let air dry. Finish with a few spritzes of light hold spray and you’ve got yourself an A-list look!

Deep Chocolate Waves – A darker hue, like Jessica Biels’ color, is always in during cooler months. Darker shades give an air of sensual mystery and are automatically reflect more light, making hair look shinier and glossier. Opt for a shade or two darker than what you’d ultimately like when getting hair colored. To achieve Jessica’s look, apply a few drops of sleeking serum to damp hair. Blow dry hair. Once dry, divide hair into wide sections and curl the bottom portion with a medium sized barrel. Separate gently to style and finish off with a curl-enhancing hair spray.

Short Sexy Pixie Cut – This style is flattering and versatile, able to range from sweet to sassy with just a few shakes of the wrist, but chopping off your locks takes courage and is for those that are truly looking for a hair make-over! Ashlee Simpson took the brave step and has never looked better! Modernize your pixie cut like Ashlee did by keeping bangs longer and wispier for sex appeal. Once cut, this hair style is easy to upkeep with just a few drops of texturizing cream applied to hair while damp. Style and blow-dry as usual.

Daily Obsesh – Marni Beaded Necklace

imageEvery girl needs one ‘go-to’ accessory – whether a necklace, earrings or scarf – that isn’t overly trendy, goes with almost everything, and can be reached for without much thought whenever an outfit needs a little something extra. Alright, lets be honest, sometimes a girl needs more than one go-to accessory to cure the ‘I have nothing to wear’ blues.

We’ve found a new go-to statement necklace to add to our queue of favorite accessories to throw on whenever an outfit needs that extra kick – the Marni Beaded Necklace! This bold, long beaded necklace features black and silver bugle beads arranged in a striking chevron pattern, with multiple delicate strands of the beads draped below. Equal parts ethnic and flapper inspired, the Marni Beaded Necklace looks just as great dressing up a casual outfit of tee shirt and jeans or paired with more dressed-up drop waist silk dress and brogues.

Daily Obsesh – Deena & Ozzy Faux Fur Mitten

imageThis winter, wearing gloves sounds just plain boring. But wearing mittens, that’s a different story! Especially when they’re as cute and fuzzy as these. With faux fur on the outside and soft fleece on the inside, there’s no excuse for having cold hands when you have these puppies on. Plus, they’re a perfect way to get your fur fix this season without hurting any real animals or dropping some major cash.

So while gloves might make it easier to function with your hands, we at Stylehive would much rather stay warm and cozy with our fuzzy mittens.

Daily Obsesh – Here Birdie, Birdie Bird House

imageQuick, before the birds fly south! The Here, Birdie Birdie Bird House is a cheeky little place, fashioned after a feline face, for birds to rest their wings! The simple waterproof wooden structure is designed to look like a sweet kitty’s face complete with whiskers and ears and is funny enough for us humans to get a little chuckle, but won’t deter birds from stopping by! Even the bird perch sits, quite strategically, just below kitty’s mouth.

Perfect for a pet, or even just outdoorsy bird lovers, this happy home is a great house-warming gift that can be hung from the walls indoors or out. And there is a removable bottom panel which allows for easy clean-up!
