Celeb Poll – Who Wore This Mara Hoffman Dress Better?

imageCelebs are constantly being photographed and need to always be seen in the latest, trendiest pieces. So it’s no surprise that, every so often, we see two gorgeous stars in the same dress and when that happens, we can’t help but ask … Who wore it better?

This Mara Hoffman Twist One Shoulder dress was seen on curvaceous beauties, Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose.

Kim paired this colorful tribal print with a pair of sexy red ankle-strap heels and bangles from her own collection, Belle Noel. A polished pony-tail and nude lips complete her look.

Amber Rose went the opposite and matched her Mara Hoffman mini with nude strappy heels and a vixen red lip. Wooden spike earrings and a shorter hemline make her ensemble her own.

So who do you think wore this Mara Hoffman Twist One-Shoulder Dress the best? Let us know by taking the poll below, then check back next week for when we show you how to get the winner’s look!

Going Tribal!

imageYou love color, you love bold prints … then you probably also love the new tribal print trend that’s popping up everywhere!

Patterns of geometric shapes and fun colors make for some standout statement pieces be it a skirt, dress or eye-catching ring. With such strong prints, it’s best to keep other pieces and accessories to a minimum.

Try pairing a tribal print mini with a white tee tucked in or add a tribal inspired accessory to your LBD and let it take center-stage. Feel the need to be more bold? A sleek stiletto or bright lipstick that picks up one of the prints colors is a great way to say, ‘I’ve arrived!’.

Orange Lipstick – A Spring 2011 Trend to Try Now!

imageAt New York Fashion Week, bright orange lipstick literally popped off the runway. Paired with everything from minimalistic blacks to jolly floral prints, it made a statement that was fun, flirty and fresh, and it’s a trend you can easily wear this fall to be ahead of the fashion curve.

We saw and reported on this citrus-spritzed trend at a whopping twelve different shows. While the tangerine shade does follow, in theory, fall’s bold lipstick trend, spring’s hottest hue has the added plus of emphasizing your eye color and the highlights in your hair.

We asked Shiseido Makeup Artistic Director Dick Page – who created the brilliant orange lip for the Marc by Marc Jacobs and Isaac Mizrahi shows – how one unique shade can end up dominating the runways.

Beauty Pick Me Up – Your Best Facial … At Home!

imageDaily stresses, long nights, free radicals … all these things can really do a number on our skin. Your skin is your best accessory so you want to make sure it’s always looking smooth, dewy and fresh but not all of us may have the time or budget to get ourselves into the spa once a week.

No worries! You can pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home and get the same results with ingredients from the fridge or extras in your bathroom cabinet. A daily cleansing and moisturizing routine is a must, but you’d be surprised what a difference a weekly or bi-weekly facial can do! So always look glowing and fresh no matter what type of skin issue you may have!

Take a look at these three facials and find the one that’s perfect for you!

Skin Revival – This facial of perfect for those with relatively problem free skin and are just looking for a way to get that glow back in the middle of the week.

First, put 2 cups of water in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. In a large bowl, add another 2 cups of water and a few ice-cubes and throw in a face towel.

While waiting, wash your face with your normal cleanser. Pat dry and when the water has come to a boil, lean your face over the pot, hovering about 6-8 inches above and drape a towel over your head and face. Stay this way for about 5 mins. (feel free to come up for air if it starts to get too steamy!)

Wring out the face towel in the ice bath and put it over your face. Let this stay for 2 minutes, re-dipping and wringing at the one minute mark if the cold in the towel is gone. This allows pores to open and retract, leaving skin glowing and supple,

Dry Skin/ Fine Line Moisture Boost – Here’s 2 faves that work! This is perfect for those with dry skin and fine lines that need a boost of hydration.

For the first, separate an egg and use only the yolk. Add in a tsp of olive oil and a teaspoon of honey. Mix well and apply to your cleansed face. Let sit for 15-20 mins and rinse with warm water.

Need a quick fix? Try this second facial – Mash up an avocado with 3 tsp of plain yogurt and mix well. Apply evenly on your cleansed face and let it sit for 10-15 mins. Rinse with warm water.

The natural oils and vitamins in these foods help boost hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines while leaving skin soft and dewy.

Blemish Remedy – Outside facial masks and beauty products can sometimes be too harsh on already red and sensitive skin. Try on of these 2 facial methods to clear the skin of blemishes, prevent pimples and reduce redness.

Mash or blend a tomato. In a bowl, mix the tomato puree with 2 tablespoons of powdered milk or plain yogurt. Mix into a paste and apply it to cleansed face. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

This one is a great skin soother. Simply blend a small handful of asparagus spears and add a few tablespoons of oatmeal (NOT the flavored kind!). Mash into a paste and apply it to the affected areas. Let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

Diesel Fuel For Life Denim Collection Shoot

Our exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the set of Diesel’s newest fragrance campaign

Advertorial content:

We recently visited a New York City set where we met the models, creative team and crew behind the campaign for the launch of Diesel’s newest fragrance line, Fuel For Life Denim Collection.

Conceived by the acclaimed director Melina Matsoukas, the fast-paced, sexy videos feature models Marloes Horst and Marlon Texeira, who also appear in the print campaign shot by Terry Richardson. The campaign was created by Bruno Collin, Diesel’s Artistic Director, and Steeve Hagege, Diesel Fragrance’s General Manager, and Paris-based ad agency Fred & Farid

You’ll see many versions of the campaign, but we’ve got an exclusive 60 second cut of it here:

The companion scents (one for men and one for women) are fresh and fun, and play off of denim’s youthful, free-spirited history. We asked Annick Menardo of Firmenich, who created the scents, to tell us a bit more about her inspiration.

Cool Hunting: Diesel is such an active, youthful and en energetic brand. How do you translate that into a signature fragrance style?

Annick Menardo: When we create a perfume for Diesel we try to keep and transmit the values of youth and energy which are really important for the brand. In order to transmit this energy, we use citrus notes like grapefruit, lemon and mandarin orange. To give a trendy and youthful touch we work with new and innovative ingredients. We have access to new raw materials which we didn’t have in the past. All these ingredients allow us to express and to create innovative fragrances in a different way—this is important for young consumers who are looking for some new experiences.

CH: How is the Fuel for life Denim Collection similar to the other Diesel fragrances? How is it different?

AM: The Fuel for Life Denim Collection is fresher and more luminous on top, though it keeps the modern and sensual character of the Fuel For Life Classic. The new Denim Collection naturally fits in the Diesel perfumes range. It respects the values of modernity, youth and sexiness that are so important to (and characteristic of) the brand.

CH: How are the mens and womens versions similar and different?

AM: They keep the sensual and enveloping signature of Fuel For Life and add a fresher and more sparkling top note. The women’s fragrance features blackcurrant notes, and the men’s lemon notes. The common note between the two fragrances is raspberry. It brings the fresh and sparkling side in the women’s and the sensual and captivating aspects in the men’s versions.

CH: What does creating a fragrance for Diesel allow you to do that other brands don’t?
AM: The modern universe of Diesel, which is very rich and colorful, offers us a wider freedom than most other brands, and that is the greatest luxury for a perfumer; it allows us to work the fragrances in multiple ways and thus to bring something new and innovative.

The flask-shaped bottles are wrapped in Diesel denim. Stonewashed for guys, and a light denim for girls.
