Rock A Hot Pink Frock Like Blake Lively

imageAt this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards, the beautiful Blake Lively made a show-stopping splash wearing a hot pink strapless dress by Michael Kors. Given the bright hue of the dress, Blake kept the rest of her ensemble on the subtle side with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, and some stunning jewelry pieces from Lorraine Schwartz including blackened gold and diamond hoops, a black jade and diamond ring and a blackened gold diamond mesh ring. Hot pink was without a doubt the shade du jour on the Spring 2009 runways, as seen at Badgley Mischka, Matthew Williamson, Doo. ri, Christian Dior, and many more, and the neon-color trend will be even more potent with the eighties revival on the horizon for Fall. Blake’s strapless style is both fashion-forward and classically chic, definitely perfect for summer soirees! Check out my SLIDESHOW for 5 styles similar to the one she sported.

Video Style Steal: Lykke Li In “Breaking It Up”

imageMany pop stars throw around some sultry rock n’ roll looks for their videos and magazine spreads, leaving us feeling like they’re playing dress up. Not as much can be said for Swedish songstress Lykke Li— she is the real deal. With her long blond hair and angelic eyes rimmed in black liner she is one part angel, one part rock goddess. In her video for hit song “Breaking It Up,” she exudes fierce and unapologetic sex appeal. The video feels as though it’s set in a modern day Warhol-esque factory and features Lykke dancing around in a totally enviable outfit. A body conscious black dress topped off with an oversized white jacket and some black booties may sound boring at first, but it’s anything but. To get the look, try Opening Ceremony’s zip up back lattice dress. While she wears a more exaggerated silhouette jacket, I think the Madison Marcus “Alliance” jacket would work just as well. Dangerously high black booties are funked up a little bit by layering some mid calf white socks. Don’t forget to pile on the rings- one on each finger if you can, or fake it with Bijules’ bar ring that covers three fingers. A long statement chain necklace adds the perfect amount of glam and rock chic making simple black and white look so good. Watch the video and check out the slideshow to see how to get Lykke’s look!

Go Sexy-Sleek Like Leighton Meester

imageAt the CW Upfronts, a blonde Leighton Meester demonstrated how to rock the menswear trend the right way by perfectly balancing sexy with sophisticated. The Gossip Girl star paired a structured black blazer with a pair of black shorts- both by Jil Sander– and gave these timeless style staples a modern edge with some seriously funky Brian Atwood pumps, adding a dose of sex appeal by showcasing her gorgeous gams. To maintain the minimalist, sophisticated motif, Leighton refrained from accessory overload, adding just a touch of glitz to her look with two subtle, yet stunning, rings worn on each hand- the perfect finishing touch to this seriously chic look. The short suit is a perfect alternative to the pantsuit for summer and can work from from the boardroom to the bar and be sexed up or toned down to suit any occasion. Solange Brings Retro Sound And Fashion-Forward Style In “Sandcastle Disco”

imageSolange Knowles is making a name for herself in the music world, finding her own niche and style. Back in the Destiny’s Child days when big sis Beyonce, was busy becoming a household name, Solange was also trying her hand at music. She made a few cameos in videos, but she really just came across as a mini-Beyonce. Her style was a junior and less sassy version of her older, more famous, counterpart. Whoever marketed her music saw the success of Destiny’s Child and the hip-pop/ R&B sound and tried to emulate that in Solange’s image. Solange was able to gain a little recognition, but was still mostly recognized as “Beyonce’s sister.” After laying low in music for a few years and only modeling for the occasional Dereon ad (an urban streetwear company headed by Beyonce and their mother, Tina Knowles), Solange has returned with her catchy, retro-soul album named Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. The songs have an old school feel with trippy beats and a tint of funk and blues. The music is tight, the lyrics are sincere and the beats get you moving. Her style, however, is the biggest and most pleasant surprise. From bright colors, extreme details, fashion-forward silhouettes and risk-taking ensembles, Solange shows that she has grown into her own woman and is setting the standards for her own sound and style. Check out the colorful, fun and fabulous looks of rompers and dresses in Solange’s video for “Sandcastle Disco” and then check out the slideshow to see how you can adopt her look into your own everyday wardrobe!

Celeb Style: Go Sexy and Sophisticated Like Audrina Patridge

imageHills star Audrina Patridge has definitely been making some noteworthy improvements in the style department and has been looking increasingly more fab and fashion-forward in recent months. At the Maxim Hot 100 Party, Audrina struck the perfect balance between sexy and sophisticated. The reality star showcased her killer legs in a midnight blue Doo.ri minidress teamed with jewel-encrusted Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain sandals and added some sleek sophistication to the look with a black Kris Van Assche tuxedo jacket. She accessorized with a chic Alexander McQueen clutch and kept the jewelry to a minimum with a subtle necklace and ring, to keep the look from being too cluttered (with shoes like that, you definitely don’t need to go accessory-wild!). I loved this ensemble because in addition to being ultra chic and wearable, each piece is super versatile, definitely something I always like to look for in my purchases.

Rock a Little Red Dress Like Sienna Miller

imageAt the New York premiere of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, fashion trend-setter extraordinaire Sienna Miller showcased a sleek, sophisticated style that was still undeniably sexy. Sienna looked absolutely radiant in a ravishing red dress by Marios Schwab which looked especially sizzling with her matching red pout. She completed her look with Roger Vivier black pumps and opaque tights, leaving the accessories at home and letting this standout dress do all the talking. The LRD (little red dress) is a fabulous alternative to the classic LBD, especially for a night when you wanna get in touch with your inner sexy siren. The key to rocking this style is to keep it minimal, like Sienna, and balance out the inherent sex appeal of the look with more pared down accessories. Photo credit: PR Photos

Rock an Edgy-Femme Look Like Vanessa Hudgens

imageAt the LG “Rumorous Night” Launch Party, rising trend-setter Vanessa Hudgens showcased her spin on the edgy/femme trend which dominated the runways for spring. Vanessa wore a summery seafoam dress by Gold Hawk and injected a mega dose of edgy-glam to the look by accessorizing with black strappy sandals, Sara Weinstock bangles, layered necklaces, and a totally statement-making multi-colored bag. The dress itself is a fabulous investment for spring and summer and can be worn with dainty sandals for day or killer pumps for a night out. You can wear it alone, or team the look with a bunch of standout accessories like Vanessa to showcase your own personal style. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get the full look! Photo credit: PR Photos

Video Style Steal: Kelly Clarkson Buttons Up, Then Lets Loose In “I Do Not Hook Up”

imageIf it wasn’t clear enough in the previous Kelly Clarkson style steal, I’m totally loving the songstress’s comeback as she rides it out, and I fully intend to soak up her rocker-chick presence in the spotlight until she goes back into hibernation and deprives me of catchy breakup therapy tunes for another long while. In the video for her first single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” Kelly showed us her softer side with a casual-cool take on her usual edgy style, and now with her second single, “I Do Not Hook Up,” Kelly tackles rumors head on and proves that she doesn’t need a boy on her arm to complete her outfit! One thing I’ve always loved about her videos is the way she tells a story through the scenes, and then never fails to break out with a belting chorus in a kick-ass outfit, rocking out with her band behind her. Makes me wish I had my own music-playing entourage to whip my hair in front of! While I’ll never be Kelly Clarkson (aside from our matching and nose studs and curvy rear ends), I can at least covet the clothes she dons in the video as she causes a ruckus at an uppity lunch party, then lets loose onstage while out on the town. With a sexy fitted halter dress and studded shoes made to walk all over those misbehaving boys, it’s way easier to channel Kelly’s looks than it is to sing along to the video on-key! Go Edgy-Chic Like Emma Roberts

At the 14th Annual Gen Art Film Festival “Lymelife” Premiere, budding fashionista Emma Roberts rocked a fabulous look that combined uptown glam with a downtown-cool edge. Emma demonstrated stellar mixing and matching, teaming a black sequined Monique Lhuillier tank with light-wash bell bottom jeans from Current/Elliot. She made the look more night-time appropriate with a pair of black pointy Stuart Weitzman pumps, a beaded Chanel necklace, and a sleek pea-coat to fend off the outdoor chill. I absolutely love how this look is sexy, but in that very rare, effortless sort of way that makes it super sleek as well. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get this fabulous look!

Video Style Steal: Keri Hilson Amps Up Her Accessories In “Knock You Down”

R&B songstress Keri Hilson first stole the show with her supporting vocals on Timbaland’s hit track “The Way I Are,” and now with her chart-topping debut album In A Perfect World… she’s making a name for herself as a leading solo artist and has top hip-hoppers like Lil Wayne and Kanye West backing her own tracks. With her club-banging beats and confident lyrics (she even calls out Beyonce in one of her tunes!) Keri is not only climbing the ranks as a singer, but as a style maven as well! An avid Melody Ehsani and CC Skye fan, Keri lives for classy sexiness with a funky flair, and her seemingly endless array of accessories in her latest “Knock You Down” video has me loving the edgy-urban look she has going on. While I certainly don’t condone sneaking around behind multiple fellas’ backs (but hey, go on with your bad self), you have to admit — the girl looks fierce doing it! Click “See Video” to watch Keri in action (with Kanye and Ne-Yo!), then check out the slideshow to see how you can cop her decked-out look!
