Look For Less: Alexander Wang Cat Eye Sunglasses

imageI was browsing Luxirare the other day (if you haven’t seen this girl’s blog, check it out now- it will blow your mind), and came across these Vintage Cat Eye Deadstock Sunglasses she found on eBay, which, dare I say it, look even cooler than the Alexander Wang for Linda Farrow cat eye shades that are just about sold out at Opening Ceremony. I can’t vouch for the quality of the eBay pair, but for just $18.95 including shipping, it’s pretty much a done deal, especially considering the Wang version is $325 (that is, if you even manage to get your paws on a pair). What do you think? Will you be shopping for shades on eBay, or are you going to hold out for the original? Let us know in comments!

Pack A Punch With Bright Lips Inspired By Vena Cava F/W 2010

imageMaybe it’s the fashion industry’s fault, but I find that living in the moment is kind of overrated and I’m always impatiently awaiting the next season. In other words, I’ve already got spring on the brain and can’t wait for blue skies, beach days, and sunny warm-weather colors to officially be deemed appropriate. That’s why when I caught a glimpse of the makeup featured on the runway for the Vena Cava F/W 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week, I was hit with spring fever all over again. The bold tangerine-red lips give us just a glimpse of the oncoming beauty trend for the season ahead — bright, punchy pouts in high-wattage sherbet-inspired colors (think orange, magenta, and purple) with a big added dose of shine. For maximum intensity, go either matte with an intense creamy formula (as opposed a sheer wash of color), or ultra-glossy for high-impact shine that will really help the color pop. Bow Jewelry Inspired By The Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Collection

imageI still can’t get enough of bows which is why I gasped when I saw this beautiful bow detail on a couple dresses at the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Collection during Fashion Week. Recently, I’ve been eying this Tiffany’s Gold Bow Necklace ($350 at Tiffany’s). But more importantly, ever since I saw this @katespadeny tweet, I’m obessed with this Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Bow Ring ($75 at left) as well as the Kate Spade Moo River Bow Ring ($65). If you love silver, there’s Alex Woo’s Little Princess Bow Necklace ($158 at Bloomingdale’s). For more fashion-forward goodies, check out Coquette!

Hot In The Hive: iPod Hoodie

imageDo you have a close relationship with your iPhone? Like really close? To the point that you practically treat it as if it’s your own child? Well, good news — now you can dress it up in mini clothes just like a baby with this iPod Hoodie from Fred Flare. The idea sounds completely ridiculous, but they’re actually a whole lot cuter (and less annoying) than trying to dress up your dog in printed sweaters. Available in 2 sizes to suit up just about any Nano, iPhone, or ancient brick-sized iPod circa 2002, this tiny techie hoodie keeps your favorite gadget safe and warm while you’re touting it all over town… and looks pretty stylish too. Just try to remember — while it might communicate and assist you like a person (or better) and now dresses like a person too… your iPhone is not alive. Technically.

Price: $18
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add the iPod Hoodie to the Hive.

Budget Babe Sneak Peek: The Macy’s Spring Lookbook!

imageThe Macy’s Spring 2010 Lookbook is out, showcasing some of top trends we can expect to see in their ready-to-wear collection. Sequins are back, as are oversized pieces paired with skinny elements. Stripes, florals and what they’re calling Afrique-Chic prints all make appearances on tops, skirts and dresses. I’m loving Rachel Roy’s khaki coat paired with a bright blue top as well as that delicious embellished abstract-floral dress from DKNY. The return of canary yellow is also a welcome sign that spring is in the air (somewhere). I’m also impressed by the sophisticated styling, looks more Neiman Marcus than Macy’s to me! But of course, with Macy’s comes the affordable pricing we prefer. What say you? Make sure to click over to The Budget Babe for more spring looks for less!

Precious Cargo: The Pocketed Pants Are Slim And Sexy For Spring

imageCargo pants were great back in high school when you needed a place to stash candy wrappers and lunch money, and then just like that, they were nowhere to be found, except maybe in the men’s section at American Eagle. Not that there’s anything wrong with that (we love you AE!), but as we became more style-conscious, cargo pants only became more unflattering. Until now! J.Crew, Sanctuary, and Juicy Couture have given the pocketed pants a slim new look that’s just begging to be paired with feminine tops and strappy sandals. Cropped or full-length, they’re a casual, urban alternative to boyfriend jeans or your usual weekend fare. Look for pairs with ripstop details and of course, take into account pocket placement- no one needs extra baggage. Victoria’s Secret skinny cargo pant in stretch twill is affordable, and totally sexy too. Cargo pants… who knew? See the slideshow for our favorites!

Look For Less: Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

imageThe last time I even thought about clogs, I was 8 years old and only thought they were cool because they were Dutch and made clacking sounds when I walked, meaning they sounded like the high heels I wasn’t yet allowed to wear (which obviously made them even cooler). Fast forward to now, where Chanel‘s reinterpretation of the classic shoe has catapulted it into chic must-have territory thanks to pearly white leather, round studs, and of course, a platform heel. But seeing as a four-figure price tag is too much for what is really a case of sartorial nostalgia exacerbated by a chronic addiction to platforms, I set out to find a suitable doppelganger. Jeffrey Campbell’s “Charli” clogs ($178) are pretty close and even feature a convertible buckle strap so you can wear them as slingbacks. I can see them paired with floaty lace dresses and light wash denim jackets… how would you wear them?
