Join H&M And Fashion Against AIDS With Their Festival Collection

imageI spent the past weekend in Indio, California enjoying all the bands performing at the Coachella music festival. When I wasn’t listening to the music (still can’t believe Beyonce surprised the audience when she stepped out to perform “Forever Young” with hubby Jay-Z!), I was busy people watching and admiring the music festival style. From the requisite maxi-dresses and huge sunglasses to daring leather hot pants and crop tops, almost anything goes at a music festival. My favorite fast fashion retailer H&M was also there promoting their upcoming Fashion Against AIDS campaign featuring their festival collection. 25% of the sales of the collection will be donated towards youth HIV/AIDS awareness. The collection features everything you’d need at the music festivals from tunic tops, leather jackets, and gladiator sandals. They’ve even included tents and sleeping bags so you can sleep in style too. So grab the collection starting on May 20th and help fight AIDS while looking fabulous. See you at Lollapalooza!

Classic Navy And White For Spring!

imageOne classic color combination that finds its way back spring after spring is nautical inspired navy and white. Navy and white are far enough from each other on the color spectrum to make it an eye-catching contrast, but isn’t as heavy as another color combo favorite, black and white. Wide, horizontal stripes in alternating navy and white is a common usage of this nautical trend, but other varying percentages of these two colors together also produce very flattering results. Clean, crisp and perfect for spring and summer, navy and white is commonly used on dresses and light weight sweaters and is a versatile look that will match many things already in your closet. Paired with nude or camel, it gives off a classic and classy vibe, while red accessories play up the nautical edge even more and give it a boost of boldness. White and navy look wonderful together as separates, or click on the slideshow to see some navy and white favorites that expertly feature both colors and will have you ‘all aboard’ for the sunny days ahead!

Hot In The Hive: MAC ‘Crush Metal’ Pigments

imageI remember way back in my early high school days, when I first graduated from the makeup section at Bath & Body Works and was introduced to the wondrous world of MAC (the rest is history!), I was totally enamored by their big sparkly pots of brilliantly-colored pigments. But in all seriousness, does anyone actually use all of the powder that comes in that pot? A little goes a long way, and even though the holiday sets offer smaller versions with a slightly more realistic amount of product in each, I still haven’t gotten close to finishing those mini vials either! That’s why when I noticed these stacked ‘Crush Metal’ versions of their pigment jars, which came out with their spring collection earlier this year, I was totally intrigued! Unlike the holiday sets, which come with a rather random jumble of colors that are often totally impractical, each stacked column comes with wearable coordinating colors that you’re more likely to wear daily (or at least once a week if you’re not too lazy to deal with loose powder). While this warm color combo is one of the few that aren’t already sold out, hopefully MAC has gotten the memo and will continue using the stacked set theme for future pigment collections!

Price: $32.50

Top 5 Colorful Suede Wedges – Inspired by Celine Fall 2010

imageWhen spring finally comes about I’m usually already thinking towards what I want to wear for fall. All over last year’s pre-fall and fall runways we saw suede wedges in a rainbow of primary colors, most notably the drool worthy wedges at Celine. But to get your hands on those, you’re gonna have to wait until this fall. Get your fix now with a nearly identical pair from Tila March. They come in a great banana yellow that’s sure to add a pop of color with summers minimalist ensembles. In a few months, they will look just dashing paired with gray tights and a shift dress. Check out the SLIDESHOW for the top 5 colored wedges you can have now and not wait until fall.

Cure Your Disco Fever With Metal Mesh Jewelry!

imageAs you’ve probably noticed, metal mesh (sometimes referred to as chainmail) can come across as tacky when adorning shoes or bags (you know, anything that’s not really meant to be made of metal, save for the few fashionable exceptions, like this Jill Stuart pouchette for example). However, the result is appropriately disco-chic, with just a dash of edginess, when used for jewelry! Go for a fancified take on Taylor Swift’s classic silver mesh earrings with these pearl-adorned ones from CoutureCandy, or glam up pretty much any basic tank or dress with this bandanna-inspired necklace from Jill Stuart. Or if you like just a quick flash of shine, Free People’s chainmail cuff adds some gold shimmer without blinging out your whole look. Spring Trenches For Lightweight Yet Stylish Coverage

imageAh, April. Aside from being known as dreaded tax season (thank God that’s over!), it’s also a time of unexpected in-between weather that seemingly can’t decide between leftover winter cold and premature heat waves. And then we have the April showers, of course. So instead of attempting to predict the unpredictable (my Macbook weather widget is almost as useless as Karen from “Mean Girls” when it comes to accurate forecasts) and either lugging a heavy coat around or risking freezing to death by bringing no jacket all, opt for a happy medium by rocking a spring trench! Think cropped versions, fresh prints, or lightweight linen — styles that still allow you to embrace the season at hand, but still provide practical coverage and warmth for when you need it! Take a look at the slideshow for my 10 favorite spring-friendly trench coats!

Hot In The Hive: The Butt Station

imageThe whaaat? Yup. The ‘Butt Station’. Now before you start getting disgusted and click away, it’s not what you think. This questionably named device actually has nothing to do with anybody’s derriere, but is in fact a very practical, multi-functional and humorous desktop device. So why the suggestively funny moniker, the ‘Butt Station’? This quirky office helper features a cute, brightly colored mini man sitting on a ‘toilet’ and ready to assist you with any small tasks that you may need to make your day at work run a little smoother. He’ll happily hold your pen or pencil in his mouth and balance a tape dispenser between his knees, ready for your convenience. The back of this unique item readily holds a stack of business card, and simply lift his magnetized behind to help yourself to a paper clip (stored in the ‘toilet bowl’). The ‘Butt Station’ is a great way to add a little laugh into your hectic work week while still staying on track. It comes in a variety of colors and can be yours at an affordable price. The ‘Butt Station’ also makes a great gift for anyone just entering the work force, or pick one up for mom for Mother’s Day!

Price: $18.00

Stylehive’s Stylescopes Think You Deserve A Break With These Pampering Products!

imageSure, spring break may have just ended (that is, if you still get one! I sure don’t…), but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to take the time to unwind. Whether you’ve been stressed from school, work, tax season, or drama from your ol’ ball-and-chain, Stylehive’s Stylescopes think this week is as good as any to take a load off and really fit in some “you” time — even if it’s just a few minutes! A true fashionista doesn’t need an excuse for some quality at-home beauty pampering, anyway! If you’re a Capricorn, the stars say you’re destined to forget that distant deadline and surrender to your senses with a nice relaxing bubble bath… or perhaps more than one, if you have the time! As for the Pisces ladies, all that nonstop errand-running has really wrecked havoc on your feet, so you have a soothing exfoliating scrub in store — recruit your man-friend for a rubdown (or trade him for one who’s willing, of course)! To see how you should pamper yourself this week, check out your sign’s forecast in the slideshow!

Look Fantastic With Plastic Accessories!

imageWho needs diamonds and pearls when you’ve got plastic? While shiny jewels and gemstones will always have a place when it comes to jewelry, the new trend in accessories is plastic. Plastic is surprisingly versatile and can be used to make anything from fun, colorful pieces to pretty, classy ones. Plus, they add the finishing touches to an ensemble for a fraction of the price, which is good since my wallet has been looking more than a little flat lately. Click on the slideshow for a selection of versatile plastic accessories to dress up or down an ensemble!
