Video Style Steal: Kelly Clarkson Buttons Up, Then Lets Loose In “I Do Not Hook Up”

imageIf it wasn’t clear enough in the previous Kelly Clarkson style steal, I’m totally loving the songstress’s comeback as she rides it out, and I fully intend to soak up her rocker-chick presence in the spotlight until she goes back into hibernation and deprives me of catchy breakup therapy tunes for another long while. In the video for her first single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” Kelly showed us her softer side with a casual-cool take on her usual edgy style, and now with her second single, “I Do Not Hook Up,” Kelly tackles rumors head on and proves that she doesn’t need a boy on her arm to complete her outfit! One thing I’ve always loved about her videos is the way she tells a story through the scenes, and then never fails to break out with a belting chorus in a kick-ass outfit, rocking out with her band behind her. Makes me wish I had my own music-playing entourage to whip my hair in front of! While I’ll never be Kelly Clarkson (aside from our matching and nose studs and curvy rear ends), I can at least covet the clothes she dons in the video as she causes a ruckus at an uppity lunch party, then lets loose onstage while out on the town. With a sexy fitted halter dress and studded shoes made to walk all over those misbehaving boys, it’s way easier to channel Kelly’s looks than it is to sing along to the video on-key! Click SEE VIDEO to watch it for yourself, then check out the slideshow to find out how you can cop her clothing!

Say Hello To Retro Cut Swim Suits!

imageDespite what may be going on in Brazil, the trend this spring isn’t squint-and-you’ll-miss-it bikinis. This summer it’s all about the pinup-girl-inspired swimwear: high-waisted bikinis, sweetheart necklines and hourglass silhouettes. These vintage inspired bikinis are perfect for playing some beach blanket bingo or hitting the hottest luau. Inspired by fabulous pin up girls of the 50’s and surf goddesses of the 60’s these bikinis have a sweetly sexy vibe, proving that sometimes less skin is more. Elizabeth O’Brien Berg, a line based out of Brooklyn, NY is a great line of vintage inspired cut swimsuits. The suits are cute, sexy, retro, ruffled, and slightly vampy. Even Victoria’s Secret has hopped on the retro sexy trend with great and affordable suits. If you have a boyish figure, look for suits with a high-waisted bottoms to give you that hourglass shape. Lacking a bit on top? These retro bikinis with ruffles and bows on top are perfect to give a little oommph. Check out the SLIDESHOW to view more modern-day pinup style bikinis in stores.

Last-Minute Mother’s Day Deliveries To Keep You On Mom’s Good Side!

imageSo it’s Friday already and you’re kinda sorta giftless for Mother’s Day — which is in fact this Sunday, no matter how much you wish you could buy yourself another week to shop. If you’re close enough to your mama to see her on the big day, you know there’s no way she’ll let you into the house empty-handed, unless the mailman has already delivered the gift on your behalf, and a long-distance mom probably won’t be any more forgiving if the day passes her by with not so much as a flower in sight. It’s okay, you’re human, and it’s perfectly understandable for such an occasion to slip your mind, in my opinion… but I’m not the one you’ll have to beg to for forgiveness! But don’t fret yet, my fashionably forgetful friend — the ‘net has loads of thoughtful deliverable gifts that can fix your memory slip just in time (as in, before your mom replaces you as her favorite) as long as you act fast! With an array of edible treats like a set of hand-dipped strawberries that’s almost too cute to eat (almost) or an at-home spa kit gift basket that will make sure Mom feels like royalty on her special day, no one will suspect that such a timely, gorgeous gift was really a last-minute desperate effort to stay out of the doghouse! Take a look at the slideshow for some Mother’s Day deliveries that will make Mom feel special and save your behind in the process!

Hot In The Hive: Animal Shower Caps

imageIf you ever had to share a bathroom with your family or roommates, then you know it’s hard to tell things apart. Don’t get me wrong, I’m close with my family, but I don’t want to be that close if you know what I mean. So you’ve color coded your towels, stitched a name tag on your loofah, and labeled your shampoo bottles with your name everywhere, but what about your shower cap? Those clear plastic shower caps everyone has may do a good job in keeping your hair dry, but they don’t really differentiate themselves well. That’s why I’m so glad I found these super cute shower caps from Urban Outfitters! Choose from animals from a toothy hippo (our fav!), cute panda, menacing shark, and more. Buy one of each for everyone in your household and still have something leftover for your monthly hair color treatments. And I wouldn’t be surprised if you start hearing the Jaws theme song or funny animal noises the next time you pass by the bathroom.

Price: $6

imageJust in time for Mother’s Day, venerable New York jeweler Tiffany & Co. unveiled the latest creation of resident jeweler Paloma Picasso. Hot In The Hive: Jawbone EARCANDY Headsets

imageEven the least tech-savvy of people (my mother, for example) have heard of the state-of-the-art Jawbone Headset by now, and probably even have one of their own, even if they didn’t have the gadget-sense to pick it out for themselves. What even you might not have heard about yet, however, is that the brand’s latest model, Jawbone Prime, now comes in a series of fun bright colors for Spring and Summer to counter the device’s usual hue, appropriately-named “Blah Blah Black.” The EARCANDY Edition combines the same desirable high-tech specs of the more inconspicuous Prime, such as its updated NoiseAssassin technology and wind-detection voice clarity, with the fashionably sleek aesthetics that such an important ear-accompanying accessory should have! With clever shade names like “Lilac You Mean It” and “Drop Me A Lime,” this limited edition rainbow of quirky colors is sure to reel in more style-inclined gadget-loving gals who haven’t hopped on the Jawbone bandwagon yet for one reason or another!

Price: $129.99
