Hot In The Hive: Bodum Bistro Toaster

imageI don’t know if they’re just too busy browning our bagels to perfection to be concerned with looks, but it seems exceedingly rare to find aesthetically pleasing toasters. It’s even more unlikely that I’d spot a toaster I felt I just had to have based on cuteness alone! Until now, toasters seem to have been strictly business — pop in your toast, grab it when it pops back out, get on with your day — but the Bodum Bistro 2-slice Toaster isn’t only functional… it’s pretty darn spiffy too! With eight fun colors to choose from and a modern heat-resistant rubber exterior, it doesn’t just look pretty, either! The adjustable-width slots can fit all sorts of slices (no more cramming or jamming your huge slabs of bread) and the pull-out crumb tray makes for easy clean-up. I think I already have about 4 free toasters from various other appliance purchases, but this one is just so cute, it might be worth the splurge!

Price: $79.95

Dress By Number: Kim Kardashian’s Zebra Stripes For Less!

imageAt the Three-O Vodka Bubble Launch event back in July, Kim Kardashian rocked a zebra print dress which she paired with a white blazer, Giuseppe Zanotti Cut-Out Leather Boots, and, for that all-important pop of color, a Juliette Jake Crocodile Wrap and Wrap Clutch in Turquoise. I love how this girl dresses — always fashion forward with an emphasis on her amazing figure. And since you may not have your own reality show to help finance your designer duds, here’s how to get an almost-identical look for much less!

1. Charlotte Russe Bandage Stiletto Boots
2. Lulu Townsend Oversized Clutch
3. Aqua Relaxed Two-Button Blazer
4. Express Short Halter Dress

Chic For Cheap: 20 Rockstar Looks for Under $20!

imageFlipping through magazines like Vogue, W, or Harper’s Bazaar always seems to leave me wanting. They always showcase lust-inducing fashion and accessories that I wish, wish, wish were in my own closets and drawers. I flip through a few pages of a featured photoshoot and inevitably spot something (or many things) that I don’t think I could possibly live without! I eagerly focus my attention on the fine print in the corner that tells you the item, where it can be found, and the price. The price kills me every time. Half a years rent for that soft, Italian leather satchel? I’m sure it’s smooth as butter, but I can’t sleep in it. Are those killer stilettos worth going without electricity and water for a few months? Almost, but not quite. I haven’t gone that insane yet! But that little bit of logic is not enough for me to just let it go and forget about it. Lately, all the magazines have been showing rocker-inspired clothing and accessories that I’m sure I could pull off if only I had the funds. Chains, metallic hardware, black and white contrasting details, filigree designs – all beautiful and all outside my budget. But I will not be disheartened! The budget fashionista loves and appreciates high-end designers, but knows that an endless supply of money doesn’t equal a great fashion sense and a limited budget doesn’t mean you have to only have second-rate, un-trendy ensembles. Check out the slideshow to see how to incorporate the rocker-glam look into your closet without having to break open the piggy bank!

The Coveted Gives Us The Inside Scoop On The Dior Beauty Fall Collection

imageThe new Dior Beauty Jazz Club Collection for fall is filled with sultry smoky greys, purples, and light pinks inspired by the jazz scene and the daring femme fatales of the twenties and thirties. I stopped by Saks San Francisco to get a makeup lesson with Dior National Makeup Artist Karen Hummel. She shared lots of insider tips and techniques that I’ve been incorporating into my makeup routine. I love how she played up my eyes with the greys in the Smoky Jazz Club compact ($65) and I was blown away by how long and full my lashes looked when she layered two coats of the new Diorshow Iconic Mascara ($27). It almost looked like I was wearing false lashes. I also fell head over heels for the new award-winning Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 ($45) and Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Powder SPF 10 ($45). They do a wonderful job perfecting the complexion and feel so refreshing and cooling (even the powder). Click over to The Coveted for an in-depth review of the products and a helpful how-to video!

Indulge Your Chocolate Craving With Matte Mocha Shades

imageSay “so long” to the shimmering bronze and sandy shades associated with summer beauty. Fall makeup is all about the rich matte shades, reminiscent of a nice warm mug of hot chocolate or your morning mocha. Though neutral matte colors may seem slightly “blah” in comparison to your shimmer dust and glitter eyeliner, these velvety pigments do wonders in warming up your face and skintone when worn alone, and can even be punched up when paired with a touch of gold gloss or highlighter. Go for a softer version of the smokey eye with a dark chocolate shadow, or sweep a rosy mocha sheen on your cheeks for a fall-festive flush. Be careful though, these shades won’t only have you tearing up the makeup department — they’ll probably make you want to take a detour to the nearest candy aisle, too. Take a look at the slideshow for some hot chocolate makeup picks!

Don’t Be A Square, Get Your Hands On A Boxy Handbag!

imageAs if you needed another excuse to splurge on a brand-new purse, there’s a new fall bag trend that’s bound to take the season by storm. Boxy handbags are cute, compact, and provide for maximum storage with their dimensions, unlike flatter square satchels that hardly allow any real room for your loot. Usable for both day and night, they can be vamped up with stud embellishments or look fun and fall-festive like this bright pumpkin-colored purse. While these boxy bags may not lie flat against your side like your other trusty go-to shoulder bag, their short handle and packed shape are the perfect fit for tucking under your elbow! Flip through the slideshow for my favorite boxy handbags for fall!

Hot In The Hive: Silk’n Laser Hair Removal System

imageWe all know that money doesn’t grow on trees. What does grow, and at a disappointingly too-quick rate at that, is unsightly body hair. You can shave and pluck and wax (ouch!) and groom all you want, but you know your precious hours of silky-smoothness are numbered. And nowadays, how many of us really have the luxury of making multiple visits for professional laser hair removal to banish the problem for good? Well, thanks to the Silk’n SensEpil, you can take matters into your own hands — and not armed with a razor and shaving cream this time. The portable at-home hair removal system offers treatment comparable to in-office laser removal sessions, and in 2-4 sessions is said to noticeably reduce body hair. The built-in sensor also ensures maximum safety by activating pulses only appropriate to your specific skin tone. Sure, its hefty price tag and the need to occasionally replace its cartridges doesn’t exactly make for the thriftiest option ever, but if you’re already considering investing in costly professional laser sessions, this product might just be worth a gander!

Price: $499
