Squirmable Seating

There’s something very honest and friendly about this simplistic yet inviting chair and footrest combination called Nuno. Everyone knows that when it comes to seating, true ergonomics mean you can adjust the position of your body and the chair will follow suit… not the other way around. That’s precisely what it achieves with thoughtful construction applied to otherwise basic materials. Check it out!

Studies have shown that ergonomic seating comfort is achieved through the connection between movements and changes in body position. In response to this, a simple bench offers your body the ability to sit in a way that is comfortable to you. The centerpiece of the chair is comprised of a flexible directional back made of felt. It is designed in a way that allows for varying positions and is therefore very adaptable. The adjustable backrest supports and warms the lower back, providing greater support.

Cray Cray for K Ray

Eugeni Quitllet‘s K Ray lamp is like an organic UFO, a network of veins hollowed out of material which result in an object suspended in a frame. The illusion lies in its mysterious energy source with appears to derive power out of thin air.

Car-igami!

Designers Ludovico Campana & Seunghun Jeong’s submission for the 2014 Michelin Challenge Design competition tackles the issues of spacial consciousness and multi-functionality with a transformable design, inside and out. To save valuable space, the carriage folds flat and turns vertically, making it easy to park and store. But what about the interior? Automatic inflating seats that are completely configureable to the user’s requirements. See another hidden feature —>

In its upright position, a digital screen is revealed and can be used for advertising, entertainment or an unlimited number of other applications!

The Dapper Dustpan

When you think of a dustpan and broom, chances are you imagine a flimsy, plastic, unsightly object that you hide as far back in the closet as possible! The Alfred, however, is one you can be proud of! No, it doesn’t light up… or cheer you on… in fact, there’s really no new functionality at all. But it is durable, made of quality material, and just plain nice to look at.

Triangle Draws The Power

Try fitting your MacBook Pro’s charger head with an adaptor’s plug on the same multi plug and you’ll realize how inefficient the current design system is. The Multi Plug seen here is a clever redesign in the shape of a triangle. Each plug gets its own space and allows you to hook up multiple devices easily.

  • Multi Plug’s triangular block shape allows it to perform as an additive component.
  • Three sides can be used.
  • Pins protrude from one side, and two other sides’ function as sockets.

The Multi Plug is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winner.

Wobble to Snooze!

wobL is a simple stand and app that work together to transform your smartphone into a wobble-to-snooze alarm clock! Born from the frustration with trying to activate the snooze feature on smartphones, wobL allows you to activate your alarm snooze with a simple tap to your phone or stand. No more knocking your phone off the bedside table or accidentally turning your alarm off and oversleeping!

The wobL stand has a flexible rubberized design that securely holds all iPhones and iPod Touch products – with or without a case – at an optimal viewing angle. Its curved bottom and 6oz stainless steel counter-weight ensure it stays safely on the bedside table during use, while the integrated cord clip keeps power for your smarphone right where you need it. Out of concern for the environment, the design is produced from within the USA out of recyclable material. wobL makes the most efficient use of material to accomplish its function while also being easy to assemble.

The wobL alarm clock app was designed specifically to let you get the most out of the wobL stand. It features a clean, simple user interface in order to ensure an effortless alarm clock experience. 30 minutes prior to wake-up, the sun starts to rise in the background – a visual clue for groggy eyes! A simple tap of the phone or stand will “set” the sun back down and snooze the alarm. The sun will re-rise over the next 10 minutes and the alarm will repeat. Snooze as many times as you want! When it’s time to wake up, a simple swipe-up and press-hold of the sun will disable the alarm. Unlike other alarm clock apps, wobL’s two-stage alarm termination process ensures you won’t accidentally turn off your alarm when you just want to snooze.

iPhone Pro – For Developers and Power Users

Simply love this version of the iPhone 6, it has so much substance to it, and as designer Michael Muyunda puts its, this is a pro version that is conceptualized to release alongside the iPhone 6. It is a version meant for developers and power users and is based on technology that should be available between now and the near future. This concept sees the use of a centered more square battery because the regular iPhone layout will not work with the back ‘windows’ layout.

  • This concept shows a practical way to run a desktop OS on a mobile phone. Everything unnecessary such as the system UI and desktop has been removed.
  • The sidebar is used to search all desktop apps.
  • When a desktop app is opened, Linux is virtually booted and the rest are ready to use.
  • When you press ‘Close all’, Linux is shutdown.
  • One of the main problems with a desktop OS is the UI size and this can be easily fixed with a smart zoom feature.
  • When your finger is hovered close to the screen a zoomed area will appear so you can easily get work done easily.
  • The dock recognizes the iPhone via NFC and wirelessly streams the display over Wi-Fi to any apple device.
  • The device will also include a HDMI dongle, which can be plugged into any HDMI display much like the chromecast.
  • The USB ports can be used to fully convert your phone into a PC by connecting peripherals such as keyboard and mice or you could use Bluetooth.

Michael Muyunda also has a campaign live here, check it out.
