What a Crossover Should Be

The Komodo channels the same fierce power and tough aesthetic of the Mahindra brand’s famous trucks and tractors. The concept is in like with crossovers like the BMW X6 or Infiniti FX, but purposely lacks the delicacy and refinement that makes the other’s owners cringe at the though of driving through a puddle. Instead, its rough-and-tumble character begs for the off-road and is happier towing toys and getting dirty than cruising down the boulevard!

Putting the Auto in Automobile

DOMI is a compact concept that provides a solution for both driven and undriven modes. The interior cabin can be laid out like an office or living room so the user can catch up on work  or simply relax while the vehicle self-guides to the destination using a combination of GPS and smart road sign technology. The “driver” can even fall asleep on the move, or, when they’re ready, take the wheel to zip around the city they’re own way!

When Efficient is an Understatement

The NTNU student team’s entry for the Shell Eco Marathon can travel nearly 1000 miles on the equivalent energy of just one liter of gas! How is that even possible?! The answer is with a calculated blend of electric battery tech and ultra-lightweight materials. Its monocoque shell is constructed around a carbon fiber frame, helping the vehicle to weigh in at an unbelievable 154 pounds! The final design is an ideal fusion between aerodynamics, lightness and contemporary car design. Watch it come to life —>

Awesomely Autonomous Auto

The Uniblock automated vehicle is actually a modular 3-cars-in-1! The clever design splits up to tackle different scenarios. In single car mode, it’s beneficial for short distances or using narrow roads. Expanded to two or three, Uniblock becomes the perfect caravan for making long journeys on the wider open road. Highly Evolved Transport

The BMW Honeycomb concept’s aim is not to reinvent the automobile, rather, it’s to entirely reshape the way we think about urban transportation! Inspired by the socially evolved bee, the system works as a colony of well-organized vehicles that communicate with each other and with users to get people where they need to be. When a user books one of the autonomous cars from their smartphone, it leaves the hub… picks them up… delivers them… and either returns to charge or starts on a new mission!

Maserati in the Raw

The Maserati “LaMaserati” is a concept flagship hyper car based around the LaFerrari platform. Utilizing the same V12 engine (but retuned with the KERS system removed to save weight), LaMaserati is designed to be the purest expression of the brand’s core values: elegant styling, striking presence and performance finesse.

The concept is built around the LaFerrari hyper car much in the same way the Maserati MC12 was built around the Ferrari Enzo. The smooth curves, sweeping windscreen and aggressive front fascia along with the classic blue and white color scheme tie LaMaserati aesthetically to the brand’s range and the company’s heritage. The airflow inspired bodywork is designed with a focus on smooth, unbroken lines and fluid surfaces that wrap around the wheels to create a contemporary and dynamic aesthetic.

With LaFerrari’s KERS system removed to save weight and the Ferrari 6.3l V12 retuned to compensate for the loss of power and torque, LaMaserati is geared more to the sensation of driving than the final performance figures. Lightness, handling and a more analogue driving feel take priority over power and overall speed.

Split and Go

I’m in the market for a new car and am facing this very dilemma! I want something smaller and more efficient for zipping around the city than my slow, gas-guzzling SUV. But I can’t live without the extra space when I need it! If only I could have both…. The Split&Go concept was born of this very idea! It’s a conventional van that splits to turn into a two-seater small car for urban use. Perfect for everything from road trips to running errands!
