Business On the Top, Party On the Bottom

This eye-catching piece, called Hudson, combines an industrial structure with sophisticated modern accents. The focal point of the design is a bright, powder-coated base of intersecting legs that seem to play trick on the eye or change shape as the viewer moves. In contrast, its slim and elegantly carved tabletop is garnished with a striking intersecting diagonal inlay and is reminiscent of traditional Danish furniture.

Stay connected as you train!

Thanks to its highly advanced Android platform, Unity makes interaction intuitive, like a tablet, allowing the user to swipe, scroll and touch the elements on the screen. Users can not only monitor their training but view personalized content to access social networks and browse the web. Using Google Glass tech, users can also use voice commands to control and access all the unique functions of the equipment as well as receive feedback on the Glass display!

Unity pays particular attention to user constraints during training sessions. For this reason the size of the type is larger, and the color contrast is more emphatic; the keys were enlarged and moved to the side of the monitor where they are more accessible while running. The design is young and fresh thanks to the use of ample color fields that reflect the evolving scenario of operating systems for the most widespread mobile devices.

The expandable god and horizontal navigation within an infinite space allow access to a multiple of options: from pre programmed or customizable workout routines to a selection of fun and friendly exercises and even training records prepared by the user’s personal trainer. The interface is extremely flexible and any gym can choose how it wishes to configure the dashboard.

Cuts Like A Knife

Simply love this WMF Kitchen Knife Concept for its geometric aesthetics and the fact that it is crafted from a single piece of metal. Essentially, the knife is characterized by blended volume and how the gradient gently mergers the layers. The design screams high-end luxury and me likes that!

Post Stone Age Lighting

The MIKA 350 is a pendant lamp inspired by the “palozzas” houses of the ancient Celtic forts that were built in Galicia from 6th century BC. The design pays homage to the architectural tradition by using the same granite and wood composition. The result is a minimalist yet organic object that easily compliments both traditional and modern interiors.

Industrial Elegance at Its Best

The seat is curved for seamless comfort and displays a striking diagonal accent inlay. The base’s colorful powder coated finish emphasizes the toughness of the material, ensuring that users can be confident in the durability of the design.

Luna Time

The Luna Watch is a clever design that represents the process of waxing and waning of the real moon as a way of communicating the time. What this means is that Waning to the right indicates ‘AM’ and waning to the left means ‘PM’. You can recharge the watch via USB and access the functions menu by adjusting the crown. In all, designer ilmo Ahn wants you to own your moon.

Clear Favorite: Boskke’s Self-Watering Planter

bosske cube

boskke cubeNeither snow nor freezing rain nor the Super Bowl can keep thousands of retailers from NY NOW, the twice-yearly trade show that fills the Javits Center with giftables and homegoods galore. Enlisted to prowl the aisles of the “Accent on Design” section as a judge for the show’s “Bloggers’ Choice Awards,” we emerged with a clear favorite: the Boskke Cube, a new self-watering planter offered by Brooklyn-based neo-utility.

Designer Patrick Morris deconstructed the traditional plant pot and added an ingenious irrigation system to create this transparent planter, which acts as a reservoir for a month’s supply of water. “The clear plastic body reveals the water, soil, and roots of the plant, allowing you to witness firsthand the mechanics of plant growth,” says Morris of the Cube, which comes in assorted sizes. “And great for all those travelers…you only need to water it once a month.”
