The Buddha Chair

There is a scientific reason why the great masters ask you to sit in the lotus posture for meditation. It’s easier to get to the Zen moment and it does wonders for your spine. The Meditation Seat Ware is a step in this direction. To keep it as organic and Buddha-like, the designers have used bamboo sheets to give the definitive design. Like it, hate…let me know.

Psst…. I love it!

Bicycle Lights of the Near Future

The Arc taillight makes ordinary strobing LEDs seem not only outdated but almost unsafe! This revolutionary design finally addresses the issues left/right signaling and even braking for added security on the road. For brake signaling, the system tracks wheel speed to alert other vehicles when slowing. As for turning, wireless activated handlebar signals indicate the intended direction with riders hands firmly in place. A must-have for day and nighttime riders alike!

Be a Supahero… Safely

“Sporty Supaheroe” is a stylish cycling jacket for the urban warrior! This new kind of digital apparel proves that safety gear doesn’t have to look lame. Using stretchable circuit board technology, it offers improved visibility and security in the dark with bright LEDs.

The circuit board is made out of thermoplastic polyurethane, onto which meander-shaped copper conductors are applied. Therefore, the circuit board can easily be integrated into textiles by lamination.

Sanitized and Charged!

The UVC Dock is one of those crazy ideas that has it all. What I mean is that it’s a wireless Bluetooth enabled charging dock for mobile phones and other devices. It shows trivia like time, weather and calendar but more importantly the UV light within sanitizes your devices as they charge. Now here is something radically different and original that just being a storage or space-saving product. Good job!

Cell Phone Recycled To Better Things

Before you discard your old cell phone, think of the possibility of it lighting up a child’s life. Allow me to explain, data suggests that millions of phones are discard globally but very few make it to the recycle bin. If we take a fraction of these discarded phones and convert them into a low-cost camera for the under-privileged, then we can encourage a new breed of trigger-happy kids.

  • Pacam is a small, low-cost children’s camera made with the parts of old cell phones.
  • It uses the camera components and the LCD screen.
  • These parts are combined with economical cardboard and rechargeable AAA batteries.
  • The project aims to encourage children to forge their own dreams.

Pacam is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winning project.

Coulda, Shoulda, WOOD-a!

Maple Set investigates an alternative emotional response to everyday kitchen knives! The project was undertaken as an exploration of unique materials and visual combinations of an industry stale with repetitive designs. No matter how you slice and dice it, this collection is one like no other!

The designers of Maple Set wanted to look at kitchen knives from a new perspective. They focused on the essence of a knife – that key component that people think about when considering a knife. They isolated the blade as that defining component and designed around it as the highlight of the product.

Reducing the size and visual weight of the blade turned it into a sliver of polish and refinement. From there, the designers looked at other kitchen tools and felt that the warmth of wood made it a great material in that context. The stark contrast of materials worked well to highlight the smaller blade and blend the body in with its surroundings. The result is a beautiful product that breaks the mould of traditional thinking on an everyday product.
