Living Light Bulbs

Already being used as a large-scale power source for housing heating/cooling & biodiesel creation, algae as a natural energy source is one of the more exciting alternatives of the near future. The AlgaeBulb is an exploration into the use of the organisms on a micro-scale in single LED lightbulb that harnesses the green-power of algae. Using a small air pump compressor, tank, and hydrophobic material, it creates just enough electricity to power the LED for limited durations. Hit the jump to see how it works!

Smart Stretcher

Lenify is a collapsible emergency stretcher that all but eliminates the chances of secondary injuries caused by lifting patients onto the stretcher. The solution: divide the stretcher into three parts to stabilize the upper body, arms/midsection, and lower body. This unique construction makes it possible to “scoop” the individual into the stretcher rather than the traditional “lift and drop” method.

The Ziggle Grill

Love the Ziggle for being this compact portable grill that looks neat and is functional. Typically grills are cumbersome and inconvenient, especially when you are out camping. The small size and compact demeanor make this zig a must-have on your camping gear list. Too bad it’s still a concept!

Wash And Dry At Once

The Dry Hand’s Faucet incorporates the hand dryer within the faucet system. Basically after washing your hands you simply need to swivel the faucet head to activate the hand dryer. Looks to be a good solution for those who prefer the hot air dryer to the paper towel!

Seedlings of Light

This elegant pendant lamp takes it namesake and organic shape from one of mother nature’s own: the seed! The Seed lamp creates an ambient, diffused glow to achieve the ideal mood anywhere from the dining table to the lounge. As it appears to drip from the ceiling, the pendant has a somewhat-alien aesthetic brought back to earth by it’s natural curves- a perfect contrast for modern spaces.

Bendy and Beautiful

Composed of individual strips of bent eucalyptus wood laminate, the Eira chair’s unique form and material flexibility make it one of the the most comfortable rigid chairs out there. Surprisingly “soft,” the user will feel the wood flex to the curves of the body with each change in position. While somewhat large in size, the chair is distributed unassembled in a compact box where each component fits snugly for easy shipping and construction.

Painless Vaccinations

I would do anything to not make my baby go through painful vaccinations, but the hard truth is that they simply must. Keeping this in mind we have the VACC-STAMP, which offers a safe and painless way to give vaccine shots. It leaves them with a heart-shaped stamp on their skin rather than a face full of tears!

  • When the buttons on the sides of VACC-STAMP are pressed, a micro needle is injected.
  • It is so small that it causes no pain. At the same time, an anti-inflammatory and disinfectant mixture is ‘stamped’ on the skin to prevent secondary infection.
  • The stamp takes the shape of a cute heart icon, which stimulates the parent’s sensibility.

Emergency Camping

The V Plus is an emergency relief tent ideal for folks stuck in disaster relief zones. The tent is equipped with features like the ability to create its own power via solar cells. Single tents can be interconnected to larger ones, thus accommodating more people together. The exterior of the tent is made up of advanced flexible solar cells that generate enough power to satisfy the tent’s energy demands.

  • Each tent can become an independent energy unit to effectively solve the energy issues in disaster areas.
  • The tent frame incorporates LEDs to provide lighting.
  • The lighting component is attached to the top of the support pole, and the unused solar energy is stored in battery cells within the pole.
