School Gym Transformed Into Art

Refillable Dry Erase Markers

Muji’s elegantly designed refillable markers reduce waste
Muji-dry-erase.jpg

The latest gem we’ve come to love from Muji’s line of elegantly well-designed writing utensils is the refillable dry-erase marker. Perfect for home office inspiration boards to classroom presentations and conference rooms, the dry erase marker writes smoothly, without the squeaky feeling of most pens intended for white boards. (If the standard is a ballpoint, Muji’s is a rollerball.)

The true genius, however, is the refillable ink cartridge. Once the marker runs dry, unscrew it and pop in a new cartridge to reduce unnecessary waste.

Markers come in red, blue and black, and are available for $1.75 each at all NYC Muji locations. Refill cartridges sell online from the MoMA design store.

Studio B.I.B 500

Man on a Guinness World Record mission hand-draws his black marker collection to date
bibs1.jpg

Inspired by a Guinness Book of World Records entry for the largest collection of cigarette rolling papers, Toronto-based artist Allister Lee of Studio B.I.B decided it was time to set a goal for himself and started collecting black markers. To “mark” the 500th acquisition in this graffiti-culture obsession, and midpoint to his overall goal (and hopefully Guinness record!), he’s released a hand-drawn print that shows the complete historical and international spectrum of the 500 pens in his collection to date.

The Studio B.I.B 500 poster, printed on 80-lb. gloss poster and an unlimited edition, measures 32″ x 42″.

It sells for $40 in NYC at the Reed Space, in San Francisco through Equal Distribution and online at Studio B.I.B.

Amazing painting and illustration work from Montreal/Berlin based Eve Duhamel.

I highly recommend taking a peek at her Campsites and Matters marker illustrations. Phenomenal colour. The way you can see the layered solid colours reminds me of the colouring books I coloured in as a kid.
