Hot In The Hive: Russian Nesting Doll Flash Drive

imageComputers used to be the size of a conference room and required so many extra steps to do a simple procedure that brain surgery seemed only slightly harder than writing a document. Technology has no doubt changed drastically over the years. Now we have a little something called the internet, as well as laptops and computers that can fit into the palm of your hand. It’s only logical that with a society that now relies heavily on computer data and usage, accessories and other cute, functional items for your computer and laptops are popping up everywhere. The Russian Nesting Doll flash drive is one of the more interesting and randomly fun computer/ laptop accessories out there and with 2GB of memory, it allows you to save and share your work while giving your job or school projects a touch of whimsy. Plus, this cute Russian Nesting Doll flash drive is so unique and colorful, that you’ll easily spot which is your jump drive amongst the usual, more boring flash drive selections!

Hot In The Hive: Source Toothbrush

imageDespite the fact that we just celebrated Earth Day on April 22, we should always treat Mother Nature with respect. After all, we’ve only got one home in the universe! Apart from bring a reusable bag when going shopping, buying vintage clothing, and repairing rather than tossing clothing, there’s always more we can do. Consider the twice daily ritual of brushing your teeth. We throw away one every three months which means that over 300 toothbrushes end up in a landfill during a lifetime. The people of Radius created the Source Toothbrush as a way to combat the wastefulness. The sturdy handles of the toothbrushes are made from recycled currency, flax and wood and the brushes can be individually replaced so less is thrown away each time. Remember to treat everyday like it’s Earth Day because like my kindergarten teacher always said, we should leave this place looking better than when we found it.

Shoe Of The Week: Valentino D’Orsay Pump

imageLeader of the recent big bow trend taking over fashion recently, Valentino has always been known for their impeccably elegant and boldly feminine designs. It’s only natural that they would be the ones to offer the most sensually sweet, timeless yet trendy pair of heels out there. The Valentino D’ Orsay Pump features a classic peep-toe front and adds length to your frame with a sexy cut-away on the side. Like the proverbial (huge) cherry on the sundae, the D’ Orsay is adorned in a large, loopy leather bow, giving the shoe a feel of both daring and femininity. Make it even more head-turning and get it in the patent red, or go with a classic black. Want even more feminine sex appeal? The Valentino D’ Orsay Pump also comes in a black lace version, or a versatile nude, as well as an array of other colors and fabrics. These beauties are in the regular high-end Valentino price-range, but are a pair worth investing in!

Hot In The Hive: Cheri Bento Box

imageWhen it comes to preparing for lunch at work, usually I… well, don’t. As much as buying take-out every day burns a whole in my wallet, sometimes I’m just too lazy in the morning to do anything but dress myself and down my mandatory 2 cups of coffee before I hit the road. And when I do muster up the motivation to whip something up, it’s usually a slapped-together sandwich and a granola bar thrown in a plastic Safeway bag. Maybe if I had a lunchbox as cute as this Cheri Bento Box, designed by Shinzu Katoh, I might be a little more enthusiastic about saving money, being less wasteful, and incorporating more culinary savvy with my daily on-the-go lunching! It has plenty of pull-out compartments for easy organizing (and more room for the healthy side dishes of my would-be balanced mid-day meal!), yet still remains compact for convenient travel. Plus, it’s totally cute… which is my favorite part about it, quite frankly!

Hot In The Hive: Ice Cream on Collar Necklace

imageIce-cream is a classic favorite for summertime (or all the time) not only because it’s creamy and delicious and helps cool you down on a sunny day, but because a good ol’ fashioned ice-cream cone is nostalgic and conjurs up childhood memories and happy past-times too. While many of us would love to munch down on an ice-cream cone or three every day, we’ve passed the age where metabolism can be taken for granted and while we’ve given up running semi-naked through sprinklers, we have gained the burden of calorie counting. Now, thanks to Topshop (and the famously waif-like Kate Moss), we can shower ourselves with as many fun ice-cream cones as our neck can carry. The whimsically designed Ice Cream on Collar choker features a string of cute, plastic charms in the shape of ice cream cones, connected to one another by plastic chain link. It’s the perfect way to add sweet whimsy to a spring or summer ensemble. Pair it with a flirty sundress and bright sandals for a girl-next-door vibe, or add it to a tank and short shorts for a touch of stylish humor! However you decide to wear it, the Ice Cream on Collar Necklace is the perfect treat for your summer wardrobe!

Hot In The Hive: Hanae Mori Solid Perfume Ring

imageWhile the idea of beauty items made portable in the form of wearable jewelry is undoubtedly convenient, I’m not always a fan of the actual product. I mean, rings or lockets that hold lipgloss or perfume are often either too cutesie, too gaudy, too cheap-looking, too childish… in summary, convenient, but not something you’d actually want to wear. Perfume rings, for example, are hardly “incognito,” and although cocktail styles aren’t meant to be unnoticeable by any means, ones that hold solid perfume tend to scream out “I am a solid perfume ring!” rather than looking like an actual ring that just so happens to hold your favorite on-the-go scent. Except for this one by Hanae Mori, that is. The butterfly-shaped ring is actually cute rather than obnoxiously big and plastic, and the hidden perfume inside is an appropriately fun and springy yet adult scent — no candy-scented body spray or bubblegum lipstick in here!

Hot In The Hive: Giant Donut Cake Pan Set

imageWhen it comes to food, I’m the kind of person who will try anything once! Fun fact: the weirdest thing I ever ate were deep fried bees. (And before you ask, they didn’t taste like much.) Anyway, like most people, I love fried food and probably rival Homer Simpson in donut consumption. So when I stumbled upon the Giant Donut Cake Pan Set from Williams Sonoma, my heart skipped a beat. From afar, this delectable treat may look like a giant donut, but cut into it and you’ll see that it’s a cake! The non-stick cake pan set comes with two molds you can customize with your favorite cake flavors (try a ha;f/half combo with chocolate and vanilla). Let the cakes cool, put them together with your favorite filling and then add toppings like a fudge frosting with sprinkles or a lemon creme glaze. It’s sure to be a hit at your next party!

Hot In The Hive: Navy Roll n’ Go Keyboard

imageI would be the first to tell you that a job in fashion is super fun and rewarding. I mean, you can’t beat discovering up and coming designers, going to cool events, and getting a sneak peek at cool products not even in stores yet! It almost makes me embarrassed that I get paid to do all this. Almost. On the flip side, it’s not all glamour. I have the habit of lugging around my laptop everywhere to blog at a moment’s notice and I know all the cafes with free wi-fi by heart. Sometimes there are days where both my laptop and iPhone are dead and I desperately need to send off an email (RSVPing to every invitation is the polite thing to do, you know) and there’s a crusty computer at the cafe. No worries, I just roll out the Roll n€™ Go Keyboard from PB Teen for a portable and sanitary keyboard on the go. I’d also leave it in the office just in case someone spills coffee over their keyboard and is in need for a temporary replacement!

Hot In The Hive: MAC ‘Crush Metal’ Pigments

imageI remember way back in my early high school days, when I first graduated from the makeup section at Bath & Body Works and was introduced to the wondrous world of MAC (the rest is history!), I was totally enamored by their big sparkly pots of brilliantly-colored pigments. But in all seriousness, does anyone actually use all of the powder that comes in that pot? A little goes a long way, and even though the holiday sets offer smaller versions with a slightly more realistic amount of product in each, I still haven’t gotten close to finishing those mini vials either! That’s why when I noticed these stacked ‘Crush Metal’ versions of their pigment jars, which came out with their spring collection earlier this year, I was totally intrigued! Unlike the holiday sets, which come with a rather random jumble of colors that are often totally impractical, each stacked column comes with wearable coordinating colors that you’re more likely to wear daily (or at least once a week if you’re not too lazy to deal with loose powder). While this warm color combo is one of the few that aren’t already sold out, hopefully MAC has gotten the memo and will continue using the stacked set theme for future pigment collections!

Hot In The Hive: The Butt Station

imageThe whaaat? Yup. The ‘Butt Station’. Now before you start getting disgusted and click away, it’s not what you think. This questionably named device actually has nothing to do with anybody’s derriere, but is in fact a very practical, multi-functional and humorous desktop device. So why the suggestively funny moniker, the ‘Butt Station’? This quirky office helper features a cute, brightly colored mini man sitting on a ‘toilet’ and ready to assist you with any small tasks that you may need to make your day at work run a little smoother. He’ll happily hold your pen or pencil in his mouth and balance a tape dispenser between his knees, ready for your convenience. The back of this unique item readily holds a stack of business card, and simply lift his magnetized behind to help yourself to a paper clip (stored in the ‘toilet bowl’). The ‘Butt Station’ is a great way to add a little laugh into your hectic work week while still staying on track. It comes in a variety of colors and can be yours at an affordable price. The ‘Butt Station’ also makes a great gift for anyone just entering the work force, or pick one up for mom for Mother’s Day!
