imageYou know what’s worse than a crappy economy? Bruised fruit. Are you with me? I mean, we all know that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but how on earth can we be expected to munch happily on our healthy snacks when they come out of our work bags and lunch boxes mangled and battered? imageOne of my favorite music documentaries is Scratch, which delves into the background of the hip-hop DJ and turntablism. From clips of the famous 1984 Grammy Awards with Herbie Hancock & Grand Mixer DXT performance of “Rockit” to interviews with modern day DJ legends, Scratch covered it all. The most impressive part was seeing all the DJs show off their skills at the turntables. While definitely inspiring, I certainly don’t have the space or money for a set of turntables and stacks of records. Thank goodness modern technology is here to the rescue! imageThere is nothing more feminine that a well-done manicure. The precise prettiness and the pampering makes it lovely to be a woman. With a fresh manicure, you can be wearing your weekend sweats and still feel polished and put-together. I prefer to give myself manicures purely for the reason that it’s cheaper for me to do it at home. I can’t stand chipped nails and as soon as my manicure gets a little ratty, I whisk off the offending color and put on a few new coats. The problem is, it is a fast-paced world and we are only becoming busier and busier. A busy schedule is a manicure’s worst nightmare as polish becomes dented or chipped easily and there’s no time to fix it. What is a girl to do?! Nail polish companies have long been pumping out products that promise long wear, chip-resistance, press-and-go, and peel-and-stick options. Some work better than others, but none work quite as well as OPI’s new Axxium Gel for nails. These little tubs of color are made from the same substance as the acrylic nails that many of us have been so used to.
