 | Is it just me or the rugs I see in many of the foyers, rooms, and hallways that I encounter are either traditional Persian rugs or plain monotone or color blocked rugs? Where’s the fun in that? There’s a whole world out there where rugs can be fun and practically pieces of art that you can walk all over. Designers like Jonathan Adler and stores like CB2 have been creating fun rugs in response to all those dull dishrags out there. If your tastes run towards the more conservative spectrum, I really like the super soft Sheepskin Rug. For the inner child in all of us, take a peek at the Hopscotch Rug!  | Did you know that plaid is a Scottish word meaning “blanket?” Of course, the term usually refers to the iconic patterned woolen cloth, but it’s been making a huge comeback. Whether it’s the down and dirty grunge look or classically prim and proper, plaid can fit a variety of styles.  | The old adage, “a girl can never have enough shoes” is definitely one of my style mantras. I’m pretty sure I have over 20 pairs of shoes in my closet!  | In the movie “Clueless,” (R.I.P. Brittany Murphy!) Cher lends us a bit of her own romantic advice, ever so adorably insisting that “Whenever a boy comes over, you should always have something baking” (as she throws a whole roll of cookie dough into the oven). I don’t know about you, but when I bake to impress someone, I want the end product to be edible! The holidays are the best time of year to brush up on your baking skills and make delectable cookies, pies, and cakes.
