Story Wood

Bloesem Living | Story Wood by Marga van Oers

We previously wrote about the beautiful Story Tiles by Marga van Oers (also one of the best selling items in the Bloesem store) and most recently Marga has created Story Wood.

The creative fun stories are now on sustainable wood. We love the tiles but who doesnt love something new! The wood panels come in several different designs and sizes to fit any space in your home. The birch wood panels are 18 mm thick and are easily installed with an integrated hanging system. No fuss, no muss that's our motto. And of course all the pieces come with the Story Wood fire stamp and their own individual flame pattern.

I would like to live here

Bloesem Living | jan de Jong Interieurs

A house I would love to live in … Christien Starkenburg can come over to Singapore at any time and decorate my home! Her use of color and texture in spaces is just perfect, it’s really bold yet not overwhelming. Makes such a statement!

Christien is also art-director at Jan de Jong interiors … a beautiful shop in the Netherlands and that is where I found these images. I believe christien and Claudy Jongstra another top talent from the low-lands are good friends … I understand why they are, it truly enhances both their individual designs!

Jonna’s kitchen

Bloesem Living | Jonna's Kitchen

Welcome to Jonna’s kitchen, not exactly her’s but a kitchen she designed. If you think interior architect, Jonna Klumpenaar sounds familiar, it’s because we have written about her own lovely home before. You can have a quick look over here before continuing with this  kitchen.

The pictures below are of a kitchen Jonna has designed for a young family from Amsterdam. Working together with her clients, she tries to achieve the perfect atmosphere within the space. To her, being an architect means not only being the creative force but also being able to understand what the client wants and translating that into a design they will appreciate.

It’s alot about feeling out who you are working with and getting what they want even if they aren’t able to specifically express it. A fan of bright spaces, Jonna loves the energy and peace such spaces eminate. The yellow-painted floor with olive green and white basic kitchen tiles also give the room a young and fresh feel.

Perhaps you remember Jonna her own home with the gorgeous chairs 🙂 right here in the Bloesem archives you can read a short interview with her.

Story Tiles

Bloesem Living | Story Tiles

Stumbled upon Story Tiles by the very talented Marga van Oers, and we love it! What it basically is, is giving traditional 16th century Dutch tiles a new lease on life. Together with her business partner, Judith Brook, they have created the brand Story tiles, with their humorous collages are just most delightful and unexpected.

M.OSS Design

Bloesem Living | Moss Design - Lamps

With a palette of pale pastels and light colored wood, M.OSS design immediately caught our attention. The colors, materials and details all work towards this classic, almost old school style, which we love!

Marcel Ossendrijver is the designer behind these beautiful 100% handcrafted light fixtures.

The light fixtures Marcel creates remind us of the metal table lamps we used to see on study tables but with a fresh and fun twist on them!

Winter in Holland

Bloesem Living | Winter in Holland cushions

It is so inspiring to see such young talents and what they can come up with! In 2010, Anouk, inspired by travelling, set up Winter in Holland. Her efforts are commendable, starting her company in her own living room and now her handmade pieces are sold in shops in Amsterdam.

We love the color palette she has chosen and the detail in her work is outstanding! Futhermore because she individualing handcrafts every piece she is able to personalize everyone of them. We can really see the passion she has for her craft.

We noticed that Anouk currently has an ongoing campaign on crowdyhouse that will be going on for another 13 days. She's hoping to raise funds to invest in a larger machine so she can knit larger pieces. So if you like her pieces too, do help fund her! Supporting the campaign also means we'll get to see even more beautiful items from Winter in Holland!

Masha Bakker

Bloesem Living | Marsha Bakker Photography

Today we are shining the spotlight on Dutch photographer, Masha Bakker Matijevic. Her website is best described as a feast for the eyes. With her works (we love the wide range of different kinds of photography she does, you will not be bored) on full display there, we spent a good amount of time looking through them all.

One photographer, 3 Dutch designers and some food … what else can you ask for today?

We are so happy that we have been introduced to 3 new Dutch designers, Studio Els van't Klooster and New Found Treasures ( Klass Kuiken and Dieter Volkers), through Masha's photography and her website. This is just the first step, they have now caught our eye and so the search is on to find out more about them. Hopefully we will be featuring their works more in the near future!

The blanket from Studio Els van't Klooster looks absolutely plush, I mean even the dog is snuggling up in it! I don't own a dog so I don't know if they usually use blankets, but that dog looks awfully comfy. The graphic print on the blanket in those soft tones… two thumbs up.

Designers Klaas Kuiken and Dieter Volkers' collection of hanging home accessories, including this mirror are true conversation starters. A twist on the ol' mirror, an essential piece in every home.

Kellie’s new collection for BB+++

Bloesem Living | Buisjes en Beugels +++

From desks to the designs you see here, we believe you guys share our love for Kellie's (aka Buisjes en Beugels +++ ) design aesthetic. Her NEW homewares are off the beaten path and truly a breath of fresh air.

Right off our recent post on chopping boards, we have to say Kellie's design is definitely out of the box. The graphic lines and shapes of the chopping boards make them pieces of kitchen art!

Kellie originally started out designing kids fashion, with her two children as her muses and little models but with her origins in product design, it was a matter of time she came back to her roots! Along with her other award winning designs (In 2009 she designed INSEKT desk, in 2011 it was ready to be launched on the international market and in 2013 it became the IMM Interior Innovation Award Winner!), Buisjes En Beugels +++ webshop also hosts a number of guests labels.

101Characters at Piet Hein Eek

Bloesem Living | My Deer #101karakters

A few weeks ago Histor organized a competition in the Netherlands, called 101Karakters, for people to submit their ideas of how they would customize a specially designed cabinet by Piet Hein Eek. 2000 People submitted their designs, and 101 of those submissions were chosen and invited to Piet Hein Eek's workshop to actually get their hands dirty and create their designs.

What an amazing opportunity!

I love the concept behind this and the fact that you are able to express your own design aesthetic, what ever it may be.

Of the 101 designs that were chosen, we have picked one by Maaike from My Deer, that caught our attention! After spotting this instagram mommy previously, we had noticed her snap of her custom design on her feed. Don't you agree her design is beautiful? And the pictures of the cabinet and space look fantastic.

We already have some ideas how we would design our cabinet if we had the chance. Plus, it would have looked great in our new studio space in the new year. (How is it already coming to the end of 2013?!)

Color Collision sidetable

Bloesem Living | Kristie van Noort

The last time we looked at Kristie van Noort's works we were captivated by the beautiful range and pigments of her ceramics.

This time round her porcelain and ash wood sidetables are treated with the same pigments and processes as the ceramics and my, oh my, what a wonderful outcome!

If you, like us, had already fallen for the ceramics the first time around, then you should share our excitement for these sidetables. What's different from the other dipped colored furniture that we see so much is that the color is not painted on, and this way, it creates this natural texture and look of the pigments. Truly enthralling.

Also, the color combinations she uses for both the table and ceramics are perfection! two thumbs up!
