Gilles Mendel took 1960s Catherine Deneuve-inspired glamour to a new, futuristic level at New York Fashion Week. His collection featured elegant tweeds, silks, and of course, his signature furs with gorgeous details and perfect finish. Mixing textures as well as metallic threads in matte tweed was the order of the day for a fresh take on classic shapes. “I wanted to take a classical base and reinterpret it for the woman of tomorrow,” says Mendel. Typically known for his gorgeous evening wear, Mendel reacted to customer request to create more day looks. “My customers have been asking for more day clothes, and I wanted to interpret the J.
