Help Me Pick Out A New Pair Of Jeans!

imageEveryone has a pair of skinny jeans. I’m not talking about the tapered leg, impossible to get in and out of, Urban Outfitters-popularized toothpick jeans, I mean the pair of jeans you wore in, say, high school and haven’t been able to comfortably squeeze into since (unless you count that time you laid on your bed and awkwardly tried to writhe yourself into them that way). Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that mine finally fit! The bad news is that they’re acid wash. How unbelievably embarrassing. Don’t even try to figure out how old I am, ok? If you’re wondering how you too can once again fit into the most embarrassing jeans in your closet, I urge you to try out the 100 Calorie packs! Next time you’re at the grocery store, just pick up a box of these instead of your usual salty snack. I’m hooked on the Cheetos Asteroids right now– they get bonus points for not ruining my manicure with excess cheese powder (you know you love it). Anyway, I’m on the hunt for a new pair of jeans- click the slideshow and let me know which pair you like best!

Denim To Die For From Tripp NYC

imageDenim is like blood– you need it to survive. One of my ultimate favorite denim jean brands, Tripp NYC, has just released their summer collection, now available at Karmaloop.com. Conceived on the streets of the East Village in the early 80s, Daang Goodman, founder and designer of the label, has drawn inspiration from underground rock n’ roll scene, fusing it with downtown NYC street style. Tripp NYC has stayed true to its rock n’ roll roots, dressing today’s top musicians and artists. The brand is looked to for emerging trends on the pages of Vogue, Interview and Nylon. Tripp NYC produces the hottest colors and cuts for all their denim jeans, featuring rip, stud, zipper and splatter details. My most coveted pairs are The Tear Me Down Ripped Jean, web-exclusive to Karmaloop.com, and The In Distress Black Splattered Ripped Jean, a grunge flashback to the early 90s, seen on Agyness Deyn. Also check out my other top picks: The Spilt Personality Jeans, The Stud Jeans and The Double Zip Jeans in Turquoise.

New York Fashion Week Runway: William Rast Brings Good Ol’ Fashioned Denim To Bryant Park

When Justin Timberlake and pal Trace Ayala decided to start their own fashion label, they built it on edgy urban denim and Southern style. When Johan and Marcella Lindeberg from J. Lindeberg fame jumped on board, they expanded their line. With pieces for both men and women, the William Rast crew gave a show full of denim in the Bryant Park tents. Paired with heavily shoulder padded shirts for women, double breasted blazers, and black & white grungy plaids, the collection stayed true to its southern-minded aesthetic (they even had fringed boots!). Suitable for a barn dance in the city, the denim pieces were clearly the star of the show. It was studded, ripped, frayed and acid washed- yes, you heard that right, acid washed. The collection was admirable, but when you are bombarded with Southern-fried denim and all of the blonde models start looking like Jessica Simpson, you can’t help but get a tad bit bored. All in all, a valiant effort for a first time showing in the tents.

Celebs: Anna Wintour, Bee Schaffer, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Aubrey O’Day, Coco Rocha, Jessica Biel
Trends: acid washed denim, vests, blazers, zippers, leather

Do You Collect Fashion? From Handbags To Shoes, We Want To Know!

These days, everyone has their vices and collections. There are weird ones like postage stamp to and salt & pepper shaker collections (I’ll ‘fess up, I collect any and every Kodak Brownie camera I can get my hands on). So if you can think it, I’m sure someone collects it. These days, it’s easy to share your collection with the world and it’s no different on YouTube with people showing everything from their makeup or concert t-shirt collections. I found a cool stop motion video featuring a guy’s impressive Nike Dunks collection. Inspired by his creativity, we want to know if you have a closet full of True Religions, Birkins, or Manolos! It’s not an addiction- it’s a collection.
