In honor of Earth Day 2009, 15% of all sales made on Wednesday, April 22 at LouisVuitton.com will be donated to The Climate Project (TCP) – Al Gore’s international non-profit dedicated to raising awareness of our growing climate crisis. “We are thrilled to collaborate with The Climate Project and promote environmental awareness in honor of Earth Day. Over the past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. In addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project in its inspiring quest to raise awareness of the climate crisis,” says Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton North America, pointing out that through the company’s Core Values program, they have made donations since 2007 to TCP on behalf of Catherine Deneuve, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Keith Richards, Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola, and Sean Connery. Sometimes, when you see a girl with seemingly effortless style that you know you would look ridiculous in, even if you were wearing literally the exact same clothes, it can make you jealous. Okay, maybe that’s just me. But in the case of British model/television host Alexa Chung, it just makes you want to be her slightly less cool friend. Having modeled for the likes of Urban Outfitters, Antipodium and Vivienne Westwood, it figures that her style boasts eclectic choices as well as informed classics. Think mixing white t-shirts with fancy shorts and a simple tote bag, pairing it with messy hair and actually not looking insane. She takes experimental choices on red carpets, always, always dresses for her own body, and always looks comfortable in her own skin. At this year’s Kid’s Choice Awards, Cameron Diaz rocked a fun and playful style that stayed true to her young-at-heart spirit as well as her grown-up sex appeal. Cameron took her look to retro territories wearing a 40s style Michael Kors polka dot top and 90’s grunge-inspired ripped jeans from Seven for All Mankind. She added some sexy femininity to the look by emphasizing her waist with a white belt and rounded out the ensemble with a punchy red LAI clutch, black DSquared2 pumps, an elegant Gamma Redux bracelet, and subtle cocktail ring. To host her sister’s bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas, reality star Whitney Port rocked a killer downtown-chic look that was sexy and edgy without being over the top. Whitney showed off her endless legs in a black leather miniskirt which she paired with a spectacular pair of Manolo Blahnik sandals. To offset the inherent sexiness of the skirt, she wore a loose, scoop neck white tee from miniskirt which she paired with a spectacular pair of Kain, adding a sort of hipster-cool vibe to the look. Never one to scrimp on the accessories, Whitney finished the look with a large gold cuff, a studded leather bracelet and a playful cocktail ring. Bravo’s 2nd Annual A-List Awards, hosted by Kathy Griffin and airing next Wednesday, might want to consider a name change. While its nominees boast undoubtedly elite names like Justin Timberlake (A-List Male Style), Britney Spears (A-List Artist Of The Year), and Zac Posen (A-List Designer), and other front-runners across the whole artistic spectrum, Paris Hilton was probably the closest thing to “A-List” the event’s makeshift red carpet actually saw the whole night (yikes). While I couldn’t help but be delighted by the sight of some of my favorite flamboyant Bravo stars, such as Top Chef’s Fabio Viviani and the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, Patti Stanger, I actually couldn’t help but feel bad for the paparazzi and their lack of interesting subject matter! If it made their jobs anymore exciting, however, some of the event’s pseudo-celebrities and celebutantes looked laughably ridiculous in some ill-fitting garments and “what were they thinking?” ensemble choices. Aubrey O’Day surprisingly left her usual skin-tight hoochie dresses at home and opted for a dress that looked ridiculously too big for her in all the wrong places, and the expectedly stylish Rachel Zoe looked like some kind of creepy couture ghost floating down the carpet with her huge shapeless dress billowing in the wind.
