Now On SoapNet: Get Southern Belles’ Hadley’s Perfect Curls

imageReading through the “Southern Belles: Louisville” message boards and blogs, one thing is clear: you guys love Hadley’s style! That’s why we’re trying to keep up with all your questions so we can get you answers straight from Hadley herself. The latest? How to score perfect curls. Here’s what Miss H had to say: “I get my hair done at a local place called Joseph’s Salon. They are wonderful! One of the hair dressers showed me how to curl it two different ways. One way is long, soft curls. To do this you simply use a one inch curling iron and start at the root of the hair, and twist the curling iron until the entire piece of hair is curled around the iron. Then viola! Long soft curls, just like Lauren Conrad..

Influential International Style: Michelle Obama

imageEver since she hit the campaign trail in her classic cardigans, and sassy jewel tones, yes, with her guns blazing, we knew Michelle Obama was a First Lady we could believe in. Besides being one of the most highly-educated women to ever hold the number two spot at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, she is an accomplished lawyer raised with real South Side Irish roots. Moreover, she has a gorgeous sense of style. Flattering sheath dresses, fun accessories, and a mixing of designer clothing with more common retail brands are the caveats of her first few months in office. Whether it’s for a date night with the Commander in Chief or to tend her garden, Mrs. Obama always brings grace and elegance to any occasion. Megan Fox, Kendra Wilkinson, And Aubrey O’Day: Since When Does Bedding Pass As Clothing?

imageEven if you have no interest in “Transformers” (or Shia LaBeouf, for that matter), the general premise is a no-brainer: cars turn into giant destructive robots… and chaos ensues. But did you know that common household linens also transform into dresses? I didn’t either, but apparently at the summer blockbuster’s Los Angeles premiere, Hollywood starlets were convinced that sheets and curtains could suitably convert into red carpet ensembles. While I’m sure “Grecian goddess” is what she was going for, Megan Fox didn’t exactly live up to her “sexiest woman in the world” rep in her white sack robe. Similarly, Aubrey O’Day looked uncharacteristically covered up and almost classy… but did she have to resort to wearing a pillowcase? And we know it can be tough to pick out clothes when you’re preggers, but wearing a curtain is never the answer, Kendra Wilkinson! It’s a common expression to say that some of the world’s A-list actresses are so beautiful they could make even a paper bag look good, but apparently that sentiment doesn’t quite carry over to drapery. Vote below on who you think looks the sloppiest in their sheet-like sheath. Photo Credit: PR Photos

Michael Jackson: “The Way You Make Me Feel”

imageYesterday’s news that Michael Jackson had passed away was a shock to not just the music world, but the world as a whole. Though headlines in recent years painted the entertainer as bizarre and reclusive, fans of the King of Pop will remember him as a superstar whose unparalleled talent and dedication to charity made him a living legend and an icon of our generation. Ask anyone which Michael Jackson hit is their favorite and you’d be hard pressed not to find someone who doesn’t list at least five. His dancing was infectious, and his music videos were unforgettable– in all of his uniqueness, he managed to unite us all. Let’s go back to “The Way You Make Me Feel” from 1987’s “BAD”– who could forget the skintight black dress, the big hair, and the high heels? And of course, those moves. He will truly be missed, but his influence will remain forever.

‘Charlie’s Angels’ Star Farrah Fawcett Dies At 62

imageFarrah Fawcett, whose feathered blond hair and unforgettable pinup poster made her an icon even before her role on “Charlie’s Angels” catapulted her to Hollywood fame, has died at 62. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 2, 1947, the actress left her hometown to pursue a career in Hollywood, starring in shampoo commercials and television guest roles until her appearance as Jill Munroe on the 1976 hit show “Charlie’s Angels” made her an international star. She went on to do off-Broadway productions and other movies including 1984’s “The Burning Bed,” and 1986’s “Extremities,” earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations in the process. Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer in late 2006. She became close with former beau, actor Ryan O’Neal, who stood by her side throughout her struggle with the disease. Ed Westwick’s A GQ Man

imageWhen it comes to “Gossip Girl,” it isn’t just the ladies in the cast who are fashion plates. Frequent Versace wearer Chace Crawford has just been named People’s Hottest Bachelor, Penn Badgley did a GQ spread in December, and now Ed Westwick is reminding the world: yes, I used to model. The 21-year-old star has his turn in GQ this month, showing off men’s style for the fall (just as it’s warming up! Don’t you love fashion?). Click on over to SOAPnet for a sneak peek at some of the pics, along with more celebrity and style news!

Influential International Style: Kate Winslet

imageKate Winslet made a serious splash this awards season, and I’m not just talking about taking home all the most coveted hardware and, quite remarkably on its own, being nominated in supporting and leading categories for two different films. On the red carpet, Kate made heads turn. Favoring solid colors and classic shapes, Kate always picks looks that flatter her hourglass figure. Her style is defined by clean lines (she is rarely photographed in patterns) but carries just enough interest to keep us constantly wondering what she’ll wear next. Whether its Zac Posen, Dolce & Gabbana, Carmen Marc Valvo or Escada, she always looks good. Check out my slideshow for ways to adopt Kate Winslet’s your (friendship with Leonardo Dicaprio not included). Photo credit: PR Photos

Video Style Steal: Lykke Li In “Breaking It Up”

imageMany pop stars throw around some sultry rock n’ roll looks for their videos and magazine spreads, leaving us feeling like they’re playing dress up. Not as much can be said for Swedish songstress Lykke Li— she is the real deal. With her long blond hair and angelic eyes rimmed in black liner she is one part angel, one part rock goddess. In her video for hit song “Breaking It Up,” she exudes fierce and unapologetic sex appeal. The video feels as though it’s set in a modern day Warhol-esque factory and features Lykke dancing around in a totally enviable outfit. A body conscious black dress topped off with an oversized white jacket and some black booties may sound boring at first, but it’s anything but. To get the look, try Opening Ceremony’s zip up back lattice dress. While she wears a more exaggerated silhouette jacket, I think the Madison Marcus “Alliance” jacket would work just as well. Dangerously high black booties are funked up a little bit by layering some mid calf white socks. Don’t forget to pile on the rings- one on each finger if you can, or fake it with Bijules’ bar ring that covers three fingers. A long statement chain necklace adds the perfect amount of glam and rock chic making simple black and white look so good. Watch the video and check out the slideshow to see how to get Lykke’s look!

Designer Elite And Their Muses Shine At The CFDA Fashion Awards

imageThe CFDA Fashion Awards is one of the few red carpet occasions where A-listers not only wear their favorite designers’ dresses, but actually arrive with their favorite designer linked to their elbow! And while the star-studded event, which took place at New York’s Lincoln Center and was hosted by funny gal Tracy Ullman, was certainly dedicated to honoring fashion design’s finest, the arrival parade highlighted both designers and their famous fans alike. Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, and sister design duo Rodarte were among the night’s top winners, while celebrity-couturier pairings like Heidi Klum with Michael Kors and Claire Danes with Narciso Rodriguez, along with other solo arrivals, made the canopy entrance a stylish star-studded sight to behold. Take a look at the slideshow for some of the night’s most notable attendees! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Sofia Coppola For Louis Vuitton

imageWhile shopping at Neiman’s the other day, I happened upon the Louis Vuitton area and noticed in the display the latest Louis Vuitton bags and shoes designed by director and style muse, Sofia Coppola. Needless to say, I made the connection of her BFF being Marc Jacobs so I imagine it was a fun Friday night out in Paris or New York when the two decided it was time for her to bring her creativity to LV. Here’s what Marc Jacobs said about his muse: “She is young and sweet and beautiful,” Marc Jacobs has said. “The epitome of this girl I fantasize of.” From the Sofia Sandal in Suede Gold Leather to the new classic SC Bag Monogram, it’s easy to see her sense of easy Parisian chic. Her LV products are not sold online but you can take a look at some of my favorites from Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton collection over at Coquette!
